The Story of Demon Slayer

Demon Slayer, also known by its Japanese title Kimetsu no Yaiba, tells the story of Tanjiro Kamado, a young boy who lives with his family in the mountains. Giyu Tomioka's Past

The reserved nature of Giyu Tomioka is partly connected to his past. Before becoming a Hashira, he experienced several events that profoundly influenced his outlook on the world and his role as a demon slayer.

Giyu had an older sister who was due to get married before losing her life while trying to protect him. This tragedy left a lasting mark on his life. Later, during his training, he met Sabito, a young boy who became his friend and had a significant influence on him.

These events help explain why Giyu can sometimes seem distant. Behind his calm manner is a character marked by loss and a deep sense of responsibility.

Giyu and Sabito

Sabito plays an important role in Giyu's past. The two boys undergo training for future Demon Slayers under Sakonji Urokodaki. Sabito proves to be particularly talented and possesses strong determination.
