⛩ Giyu is the first demon-slayer that Tanjiro encounters. He initially tries to kill Nezuko, but reverses his decision after seeing her protecting an unconscious Tanjiro. He has them both travel to Urokodaki in hopes that Tanjiro will master water breathing, and follow in his footsteps as a Pillar, while achieving his goal of healing Nezuko. As a Pillar of the Demon Slayer Army, Giyu is a very powerful swordsman. He was able to easily defeat the transformed Demon Spider Father and Rui, the Fifth Lower Moon.

He does not consider himself a true pillar, however, although he has mastered water breathing. He believes that one of his peers, Sabito, who died saving other demon slayers in training, was the only person who could play that role. He developed an additional technique to Water Breathing, which only he knows "Breath of Water 11th movement Lull"
