He is a teacher at the Tokyo Exorcism School and is in charge of second graders. He is the homeroom teacher of Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki. He was also a former classmate of Suguru Geto and Shoko Ieiri at the exorcism school and a former student of Masamichi Yaga.

He is known as the strongest exorcist of this era, being both heir to the power of infinity and the 6th eye, 2 occult techniques feared throughout the world. He is considered the sole power as well as the current leader of the Gojo clan. His power comes from his descent from one of Japan's greatest exorcists, Sugawara no Michizane - on par with Yuta Okkotsu.
