⛩ During the Chunin Exams, Team 7 is ambushed by Orochimaru. Sasuke offers him the scroll, but Naruto snatches it from his hands, accusing Sasuke of being a coward and explaining there’s no guarantee the ninja will let them live.

Orochimaru then summons a snake to attack Naruto, who taps into Kyubi’s chakra to defend himself and protect Sasuke. Annoyed by Naruto’s taunts, Sasuke helps him fight Orochimaru. While moving with Kabuto, they’re attacked by a group of illusory clones, and Naruto defeats them with his Multi-Shadow Clone Jutsu, attracting the attention of Ame’s ninja team who controlled the clones he defeated, surprising Sasuke with his power.

During the preliminary phase of the exam, Sasuke admits his desire to face Naruto in a one-on-one fight and later asks Kakashi to teach him the Chidori.
