⛩ Naruto and Shikamaru continue to pursue Sasuke inside a tower, while Neji stays behind to prevent the two remaining Anbu from following them. Anko then reveals that she is accompanied by an ink clone, while the other Anbu flies above them on an ink bird. Neji fights Anko, leaving Shikamaru at the entrance of the tower to confront Sai.

But as Sasuke finally meets Orochimaru, Naruto, who was climbing the tower, is captured by Yamato. He then taps into Kyūbi's power to break free, sprouting four tails. Yamato tries to stop him, but his jutsu fails, and Naruto begins to sprout a fifth tail. Sasuke demands that Orochimaru give him more power and screams in pain as he is marked with the Cursed Seal of Heaven. His screams allow Naruto to cancel his transformation, which knocks out Yamato.

Naruto eventually reaches Sasuke, and after a few exchanges of words, they begin to fight. Naruto gathers natural energy from a shadow clone he prepared and enters Sage Mode. Sasuke sends a Katon attack into the sky, creating a storm and uses his Kirin against Naruto's Rasenshuriken. He then strikes his rival, who explains why he is determined to bring him back to the village, but Naruto channels Kyūbi's chakra once again.

Itachi suddenly appears and throws himself against Sasuke's attack, thus getting "killed." Sasuke then retreats from the battlefield after awakening his Mangekyō Sharingan.
