⛩ The Brand of Sacrifice  is the mark placed on those who are part of the Invocation of Doom, a sacrificial ceremony where individuals transcend their humanity, bound by the laws of causality, resulting in the creation of an Apostle or a member of the God Hand.

The lives of the sacrificed, often those of close loved ones, are then offered to the creatures of darkness and ritually slaughtered. In the case of members of  the God Hand, the life force of the sacrificed is used to complete the invoker's transition. 

The only two known survivors bearing this mark are Guts and Casca, who survived the eclipse that led to the creation of Femto. After these events, Guts' quest is to seek revenge on Griffith and the God Hands who accompany him, living solely for that purpose, even if it means condemning others in his pursuit.
