⛩ Guts and the Band of the Hawk are finally knighted knights after their victory against the Tudor Empire, with whom Midland has been at war for a hundred years. Guts will kill the Tudor army's general, and Griffith will settle a personal debt by killing the enemy king.

However, Guts decides to leave the Hawks, guided by Zodd's advice and his own feelings telling him to distance himself from Griffith. Griffith does not accept this and challenges Guts to a duel, but is defeated.

Guts then leaves the group, but upon learning that his former friend has been captured by the King, he rejoins the Band, now led by Casca, to rescue him, not without massacring the Bakiraka and Wyald's troops along the way.

Unfortunately, the Griffith who emerges from the King's dungeons is nothing like the former Falcon; scarred in body and soul, he is utterly desperate, and neither Guts nor Casca can comfort him. The Band will ultimately meet its end when Griffith, cornered, unleashes the power of the Béhélit and offers himself as a sacrifice, being reborn as the new king of demons: Femto.
