All player avatars in SAO, after the update, reflect the actual appearance of the user, so Kirito's avatar adopted black hair and black eyes.

He later acquires the nickname "Black Swordsman" due to his tendency to wear black clothing. His equipment then consists of one and then two swords: the black sword "Elucidator" and the turquoise sword "Dark Repulser". He carries his crossed weapons on his back.
