⛩ Hibino Kafka is a thirty-year-old man who has always dreamed of joining Japan's anti-kaiju defense forces alongside his childhood friend, Commander Mina Ashiro. Having failed his first attempt, Hibino Kafka gives up on his dream and settles for watching the defense forces from a distance, cleaning up after the exterminated kaiju.

This leads to him being belittled by Reno Ichikawa. But just after Kafka has regained his confidence and decided to try again to join the defense forces, a kaiju decides to take up residence in his body.

Things then become complicated for Hibino Kafka, who is officially a member of the defense forces in the third unit, and the kaiju n°8, who is being hunted to be exterminated.
