⛩ Twelve years before the series began, the tailed demons attacked Konohagakure, destroying much of the village and leaving many dead. The leader of the village, the Fourth Hokage sacrificed his life to seal the tail demons in a newborn child, Naruto Uzumaki. Orphaned by the attack, Naruto was rejected by the villagers who, out of fear and anger, considered him the tail demon himself. Although the Third Hokage forbade talking about anything to do with tail demons, the children - taking their cue from their parents - inherited the same animosity towards Naruto. In his lust for recognition, Naruto vowed that he would one day become the greatest Hokage the village had ever seen.
