⛩ Twelve years before the start of the series, Kyûbi (The Nine-Tailed Fox Demon) attacked the village Konoha destroying a large part of the village and taking many lives. The village leader, the Fourth Hokage, sacrificed his life to seal the Demon into a newborn child, Naruto Uzumaki.

Orphaned by the attack, Naruto was shunned by the villagers, who, out of fear and anger, regarded him as Kyûbi himself. Although the Third Hokage forbade talking about anything that concernedKyûbi, the children - taking their cue from their parents - inherited the same animosity toward Naruto.

In his lust for recognition, Naruto swore that he would one day become the greatest Hokage the village had ever seen.
