⛩ Nagato, Konan and Yahiko were 3 orphans from the 3rd great ninja war in the village of Ame at that time ,a small village persecuted by the great ninja nations, after their meeting with Jiraya who taught them the arts of Ninjutsu they returned to their village in order to bring peace, this was the birth of the Akatsuki.

Unfortunately, the then leader of Ame, Hanzô, saw the Akatsuki as a threat to his rule. With the complicity of Danzô Shimura, he captured Konan and forced Nagato to choose between killing Yahiko and seeing Konan die. Without hesitation, Yahiko sacrificed herself by impaling herself on the kunai that Nagato was holding.

Pain is the result of the hatred felt by Nagato and Konan towards the ninja world as a result of the tragedy that took place in Yahiko, his role is to let the world know about the suffering so that it understands it and knows peace.
