As a result, he mastered a Bankai named Tanza Zangetsu which concentrates his power into a smaller katana as well as a kimono allowing him to use incredible speed.

In his final battle against Aizen he developed his ultimate form the Getsuga Tensho, a super-powerful form that allowed him to defeat the host of the Hōgyoku. The trade-off, however, was heavy: after his final attack, the Mugetsu, he lost all his powers.
