⛩ Kagome Higurashi, one of the main characters in this story, is a young girl of around 15, living in the present day. One day, she falls into a well that is part of the temple where she lives, and finds herself in the middle of feudal Japan. She would be the reincarnation of the priestess (miko) Kikyo and would have the legendary Shikon no tama (the sacred pearl). It was she who freed InuYasha from the spell Kikyo had cast on him, nailing him to a tree.
Kagome accidentally broke the jewel into hundreds of fragments, which scattered all over Japan. Together with InuYasha, she had to recover all the fragments of the Shikon no tama before they fell under the evil influence of the diabolical genius Naraku.

Kagome is a cheerful girl, full of good humor, but she can get angry easily, especially with InuYasha. She likes to play the cupid, meddling in other people's love affairs.
