The Story of Demon Slayer

Demon Slayer, also known by its Japanese title Kimetsu no Yaiba, tells the story of Tanjiro Kamado, a young boy who lives with his family in the mountains. To help support his family, Tanjiro sells charcoal in neighbouring villages. However, his peaceful life is turned upside down when a demon attacks his family.

When he returns home, Tanjiro discovers that almost all his family members have been killed. His sister, Nezuko Kamado, is the only survivor, but she has been transformed into a demon. Despite this transformation, Tanjiro realises that she has retained part of her humanity and decides to find a way to restore her human appearance.

To achieve this goal, Tanjiro joins the Demon Slayer Corps. He learns to fight demons, develops his abilities and meets many allies. Among the most powerful fighters in this organisation are the Hashira, elite demon slayers who master different breathing styles.

Mitsuri Kanroji is one of these fighters. She holds the title of Love Hashira and possesses exceptional physical strength. Her journey and personality add a distinctive dimension to the world of Kimetsu no Yaiba.

Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira

Mitsuri Kanroji is an extremely expressive, warm and affectionate young woman. She stands out for her enthusiastic personality and admiration for those around her. Despite her gentle appearance, she possesses remarkable physical strength, making her one of the most formidable fighters in the Demon Slayer Corps.

Her title of Love Hashira is associated with Love Breathing, a fighting style she developed from Flame Breathing. Her techniques make use of her flexibility, speed and unusual physical strength.

Mitsuri also has an exceptional physique. Her muscles are much denser than those of an ordinary person, allowing her to develop considerable strength while retaining great flexibility. This physical characteristic partly explains her unique fighting style.

Love Breathing

Love Breathing is a breathing technique developed by Mitsuri herself. Her style is directly inspired by Flame Breathing, which she learnt under Kyojuro Rengoku.

Unlike more conventional techniques, Love Breathing relies particularly on Mitsuri's remarkable flexibility and speed. Her movements are fast, sweeping and difficult to anticipate. Her unusual weapon also allows her to perform long-range attacks.

Mitsuri's katana is extremely flexible and resembles a metal whip more than a traditional sword. This weapon requires exceptional skill to wield and perfectly suits her fighting style.

Mitsuri's style is particularly spectacular during the combat scenes in Demon Slayer. It is also perfectly suited to anime figures, especially when she is depicted wielding her katana in motion.

Mitsuri Kanroji's Journey

Before becoming a Hashira, Mitsuri followed a personal journey shaped by her search for her own identity. In particular, she wanted to find her place in the world and meet someone who could fully accept her personality and unique characteristics.

Her unusual appearance, particularly her hair colour, is linked to certain aspects of her story. Her hair gradually changed colour from black to shades of pink and green after she regularly consumed large quantities of a particular food.

This characteristic has become one of the character's most recognisable features. Today, her pink and green hair serves as a distinctive visual signature and is widely reproduced in Demon Slayer merchandise.

Mitsuri's Personality

Mitsuri Kanroji is one of the most expressive characters in Demon Slayer. She is generally enthusiastic, sensitive and very open with people she likes. She can also be easily impressed by other characters and often expresses her emotions very spontaneously.

This personality contrasts sharply with that of some of the other Hashira, particularly Giyu Tomioka and Muichiro Tokito. This diversity of personalities makes the interactions between the Hashira particularly interesting.

Behind her cheerful nature, however, Mitsuri possesses great determination. When a situation becomes dangerous, she is ready to use all her abilities to protect those around her.

Mitsuri and the Swordsmith Village

Mitsuri plays a particularly important role in the Swordsmith Village arc. This part of the story reveals the full extent of her abilities and helps us better understand her personality.

She joins Tanjiro and the other characters when the village is threatened by powerful demons. Her intervention quickly becomes essential to protecting the inhabitants and fighting the enemies.

During this battle, Mitsuri demonstrates the full extent of her strength and mastery of Love Breathing. Her rapid movements and flexible weapon allow her to face particularly challenging opponents.

The Swordsmith Village arc also marks an important stage in the development of several characters, particularly Muichiro Tokito. Mitsuri shares several important moments with him during this adventure.

Mitsuri and the Other Demon Slayer Characters

As a member of the Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji regularly meets the other Hashira. Her warm personality contrasts with the more reserved nature of some of them.

She has a particularly special relationship with Obanai Iguro, the Serpent Hashira. Their relationship is an important aspect of Mitsuri's story and reveals another side of her personality.

Mitsuri also particularly enjoys interacting with other members of the Demon Slayer Corps. Her warm personality allows her to form bonds easily with several characters, including Tanjiro and Nezuko.

Her relationship with Tanjiro is particularly marked by her kindness and enthusiasm. She encourages the young demon slayers and takes an interest in their progress.

An Iconic Kimetsu no Yaiba Character

Since Demon Slayer became popular, Mitsuri Kanroji has become one of the series' most recognisable characters. Her colourful appearance, expressive personality, unusual katana and original fighting style have contributed to her popularity among anime fans.

Her design is particularly well suited to anime merchandise. Her pink and green hair, uniform and the colours of her haori make it possible to create items that are instantly associated with the character. Figures, in particular, can recreate her combat poses and showcase her flexible katana.

A Mitsuri Kanroji figure can therefore become a centrepiece of a collection dedicated to the Hashira. It can be displayed alongside figures of Kyojuro Rengoku, Muichiro Tokito, Giyu Tomioka, Shinobu Kocho and the other Hashira.
