Death Note Manga Story:

Light Yagami, a brilliant high school student, finds a supernatural notebook that allows him to kill anyone by writing the victim's name while picturing their face. The story follows his attempts to become a god by creating a New World free of evil, using the notebook, and the complex conflict between him and everyone trying to stop or aid him.

The original manga series is divided into Part I, which focuses primarily on Light's rivalry with L, and Part II, which focuses mainly on Light's rivalry with Near and Mello. Many adaptations are based solely on Part I.

The manga is the original Death Note series and the version on which all adaptations are based. It was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump starting from issue number 01 of 2004 (first sold on December 1, 2003) and ending with issue number 24 of 2006 (first sold on May 15, 2006). It lasted 108 chapters, which were collected into twelve volumes under Shueisha's "Jump Comics" label. The chapters were later reissued in a 7-volume collection under their "Bunko" label. The entire series was then compiled into a single volume titled Death Note All-in-One Edition. The manga was followed by an epilogue chapter published in Weekly Shonen Jump on February 9, 2008. The twelve volumes were followed by the Death Note 13: How to Read manga guide, providing information on the series and official character statistics.

The shounen series created by writer Tsugumi Ohba and illustrator Takeshi Obata in 2003. It began as a manga series, and since then, there have been several adaptations, including the 2006-2007 anime series, the Japanese live-action film series starting in 2006, a television drama in 2015, a musical created in 2015, and a live-action American film developed by Netflix in 2017.
