Zeldris

Zeldris of Piety  is an elite warrior of the Demon Clan, directly serving and representing the Demon King, of whom he is the 3rd biological son and enforcer, as head of the 10 Commandments. He is best known as the younger brother of Meliodas.

Appearance

Zeldris's face is very similar to Meliodas's, except for the Black Mark on the left side of his face. He has spiky black hair and dark eyes. He wears a red leather suit and two gauntlets. He's also about Meliodas's size.

Personality

Zeldris is a very calm person, who doesn't get angry like his brothers Meliodas and Estarossa. He also hates Meliodas for betraying his allies. He's also a good authority on the Ten Commandments and seems to be a pretty good leader. He wants to exterminate the Four Other Clans in revenge. He is also very loyal to his command. He also seems very protective and kind to those who love him: for his beloved Gelda, he will seal vampires instead of killing them, and for Estarossa during his duel with Escanor, he will protect him and even come to his aid.

He's also quite proud when he tells Fraudrin that he's weak for not having been able to conquer humans. Finally, he never talks about his own abilities.

He wishes to become King of the Demons, but agrees to let Meliodas have this title in exchange for his desecration of Gelda.

History

Past

In the past, he joined the Ten Commandments at an unknown date, probably some time after the betrayal of his brother Meliodas. He confronted Dolor and easily defeated him with the magic of the Demon King, then asked to choose between dying or joining the Ten Commandments: he joined the Ten Commandments.

3000 years ago

3000 years ago, we learn that he crossed swords with Meliodas at an unknown date, and that during the war against the Goddess Clan, the Vampire Clan was allied with the Demon Clan. But in the midst of the Great War, Vampire King Izraf planned a secret rebellion against the Demon Clan, and failed. Their execution was ordered, and Zeldris was left in charge. Instead of killing them all, because according to Ren he didn't have the skills to defeat them, he sealed them up, out of love for Gelda.

Along with the rest of the Demon Clan, Zeldris was sealed by the Goddess Clan after losing the Old War against the Four Races (Humans, Fairies, Giants and Goddesses). He hates Meliodas for having allied himself with the Four Races, considering him partly responsible for his fate, a fact later confirmed.

Arc Albions

After Hendricksen manages to remove the seal, Zeldris, Estarossa and the rest of the Demon Clan demons appear before the former Grand Sacred Knight and Fraudrin in Dreyfus's body. Zeldris speaks Meliodas's name, as if he knows him. After being briefed by Fraudrin on current events in Britannia, Zeldris suggested that they should head for Edinburgh Castle to recover their magical powers, heavily drained due to the seal they were trapped in, which everyone agreed to. The group then set off for the Valley of Zhuhur, leaving Hendricksen terrified.

Arc Istar

Arriving at Edinburgh Castle, Zeldris and the Ten Commandments find it in ruins. They conclude that Meliodas has caused the castle's destruction, as if there had been a great battle, before noticing that his brother, Estarossa, is totally relaxed, lying in the castle ruins, much to Zeldris's dismay. Later, we see him shocked by Meliodas's enormous strength, then talking with the latter: he tells him he has nothing to say, except that he is furious with him and the four clans, and that they will take revenge. Finally, we see him comment on Galan's defeat. He suggests forming groups of 2-3 members to prepare for the invasion, and joins forces with his brother.

Arc Grand Festival of Combat

We learn that he single-handedly defeated the army of Camelot, the second most powerful army behind Britannia, without a scratch. Later, with 7 of the Ten Commandments, he came to the aid of Dolor and Gloxinia, who were dominated by Meliodas, whereupon he confronted his brother and succeeded in cutting off his arm without his realizing it. His brother will then attempt another attack using the severed arm he has recovered, but will be stopped and countered with one hand without much difficulty. He is surprised by Meliodas' attack, but saved by Estarossa. They set off again after Meliodas's death.

Arc Battle for the Defense of Liones

1 month after Meliodas's defeat, he's with 7 of the Ten Commandments somewhere on Britannia, which turns out to be Liones Castle, and he tells Fraudrin that it hurts his stomach that Fraudrin couldn't do anything against humans. of Escanor's magic and watched his brother fight Escanor, then commented that it was impossible for him to be down and that his guard had been broken, then was shocked by Escanor's strength and went to help his brother in danger from Escanor. He'll take the full brunt of the attack with his brother, their current fate unknown, but they'll be alive...

As underboss of the 10 Commandments, younger brother of Meliodas and 2nd son of the Demon King himself, Zeldris is an extremely powerful demon. According to Meliodas, thanks to the magical power of the Demon King, Zeldris can be as powerful as the latter or the Supreme Divinity, which could enable him to remove the spell on his older brother and Elizabeth. However, once Meliodas decides to become the new Demon King, he realizes that he has overestimated Zeldris and declares that even with the power Zeldris has borrowed from their father, Zeldris remains weak compared to the latter's true power to which he consents. His aura alone terrified King Arthur Pendragon, who claimed his power was comparable to that of his former mentor, Cusack the Reaper. His aura is also powerful enough to completely terrorize the countless heroes inside Excalibur. Even Cusack and Chandler the Peacemaker, the 2 top-ranked Demons, fear his original magical power. Cusack himself declares that Zeldris was destined to surpass him.

Like all members of the Demon Clan, Zeldris possesses the mysterious Power of Darkness, which he can use for a variety of purposes, such as forming wings to fly. His aura, combined with that of the other 9 Commandments, is so terrifying that his presence made Hendricksen sweat and even Meliodas angry when he sensed it several miles away. He is able to inflict a curse on Merlin, despite the latter's natural resistance to the effects of Demonic Magic, which would have killed her and so powerful that even Hendricksen, who has spent years studying Druidic Magic, was unable to save her. He also has the ability to communicate telepathically with the other 9 Commands, even when they are scattered across the whole of Britannia. As Representative of the Demon King, he is able to grant the Commands to others and to remove them from any member of the 10 Commands if they allow it or are unable to fight back, as shown when he successfully removed Dolor of Patience and Gloxinia of Rest from their status as members of the 10 Commands. He is shown to be able to suppress the powers of others, even those as powerful as Dolor, when the latter was 1st King of the Giants, thanks to the magical power of the Demon King. When fighting at full power, Zeldris can enlarge his demon mark, similar to that of Meliodas when he was leader of the 10 Commandments. He is also the only Demon known alongside Meliodas to be able to survive taking multiple Commandments within himself.

Zeldris possesses immense fighting skills, having been trained by both Cusack and Meliodas. He single-handedly rendered the military forces of the Kingdom of Camelot, Britannia's 2nd most powerful kingdom, completely impotent, without suffering a single wound. What's more, he was able to defeat his older brother, Meliodas, when he hadn't regained his full strength and easily knocked Dolor off his feet with a single kick. He proved extremely fast and had extraordinary reflexes, cutting off Meliodas' arm with one blow before the latter was able to attack him. His speed in handling the Sword is said to be the fastest in the entire Demonic Kingdom, which is proven, as he showed when he fought fairly against Ludeciel in handling the Sword, suffering only one wound more than him. He is extremely resilient, as he was unflappable after Meliodas struck him in the head with his activated demon mark. He even survived being hit at close quarters by Escanor's Cruel Sun. Even attacked by a powerful Ludeciel attack, he suffered only slight bruising. He even survived a powerful punch to the stomach caused by Escanor, then in his Unique form, and even Ludeciel's Brillance Dorée, although he was badly injured in the attack. He also possesses formidable physical strength, as demonstrated when he held Escanor's Divine Sword for a considerable time before falling back.

Capabilities

• Nebula Sinister「凶星雲 Kyōseiun」: Zeldris creates a vortex that surrounds him and attracts all living beings in his vicinity to cut them up at lightning speed by pure reflexes when someone comes into contact.
• God「魔神王 Majin-Ō」: According to Zeldris, the Demon King lent him some of his magical power. Using it, Zeldris is able to completely nullify all magical attacks.
• Infernal Flame「獄炎 Gokuen」: A mysterious ability possessed by Zeldris that allows him to generate black flames. This also has the added effect of nullifying an immortal's regeneration.
• Day of Fasting「怒りの日 Ikari no Hi」: Zeldris summons a portal on the desired target and releases a huge bolt of lightning to strike it down.

Command

Zeldris has received the Command of Piety「敬神 Keishin」 from the Demon King. All those who turn their backs on Zeldris are considered traitors and are condemned to serve the Demon King, and by extension Zeldris himself, who acts as the Demon King's Representative.

Equipment

• Short Sword: Zeldris wields a short sword with a sharp point at the tip. He is extremely adept at wielding the Sword, using it in a manner similar to the Iaidō. For some reason, this sword bears the symbol of the Goddess Clan.

Relations

King of Demons

He represents him and has great respect for him. In the previous chapters, they had an altercation, for the demon king orders Zeldris to save Meliodas. The latter wants to disobey his father, who stops him immediately, telling him that he will not tolerate any refusal on his part. Zeldris reluctantly goes to save his brother, making him the next demon king.

Estarossa

Both are members of the 10 Commandments. If Zeldris gets angry with Estarossa around the pose, and ignores his brother most of the time, they sometimes show that they want to take care of each other. Later, after Escanor's attack, he doesn't hesitate to protect him from the attack, which shows that he loves him.

Gelda

Gelda was Zeldris's love. We know nothing of their relationship, but Zeldris, instead of executing the Vampires following King Izraf's betrayal, decided to seal them for her, as she herself was part of this clan.

Meliodas

The current relationship between the two brothers is hostile. According to Meliodas, Zeldris idolized the cruel, ruthless version of himself from over 3,000 years ago. Today, Zeldris seems to be ruthless towards Meliodas, whatever his actions, because of his betrayal of the demon clan, although we can assume that it's actually a deep resentment for having killed the one he loved, Gelda. We can also assume that the reason for Meliodas' cooperation with Zeldris concerns Gelda. However, he still seems to have some kind of feeling for his older brother, telling Elizabeth that she makes him suffer because she cursed him.
