Gol D. Roger is the catalyst of the story in One Piece. He is the first character in history to have reached the island at the end of the Grand Line.
To achieve this, Roger gathered a talented crew that sought to shake the world with him. Every member of the crew featured in the story so far has been exceptional in one way or another. The legacy of the Roger Pirates is something that each member carries within them, even though it represents both a danger and a source of pride.

Unlike Monkey D. Luffy, Gol D. Roger's crew consisted of more than ten members. The Oro Jackson had 32 official crew members and two children aboard. While most of these characters have names, only a few have appeared in the anime or manga so far. These four apprentices play an active role in Luffy's adventure to become the next Pirate King. Although Douglas Bullet is part of the crew in One Piece: Stampede, he is not a canon character, and therefore, the events surrounding him are uncertain.
The Pirate King, Gol D. Roger
Gol D. Roger is the freest man in One Piece.
Roger was an excellent pirate even before seeking the One Piece. He reached Lodestar Island before the God Valley incident. Roger had a long-standing friendly rivalry with Monkey D. Garp and Edward Newgate, also known as Whitebeard. Thanks to his friendship with Whitebeard, Roger had the opportunity to translate the Road Poneglyphs he accessed with Kozuki Oden. This, combined with his incurable illness, pushed Roger to attempt to conquer the final island.
Upon arriving at Laugh Tale, Roger and his crew laughed at what they saw there. In any case, the Marines redoubled their efforts to execute him. Sick, Roger disbanded the crew and surrendered to Garp. He also entrusted the existence of Portgas D. Ace to Garp, so that his friend could protect his son. On the execution block, Roger shook the world by triggering the Great Pirate Era in the search for the One Piece.
Rayleigh, the Dark King
The Pirate King's right-hand man teaches Luffy.
Although he was the second-in-command of the Pirate King, Rayleigh was able to live a peaceful retirement. It took Roger some time to recruit him, but Rayleigh eventually agreed to join his crew. He is known as the Pirate King's Right Hand, and his reputation still precedes him. Rayleigh is deeply affected by Roger's death, even to this day. However, he married Shakuyaku and became a coating mechanic on Sabaody.
Rayleigh spends his time getting captured as a slave, then escaping. He eventually helps the Straw Hat crew. Luffy, who had been spoken of by Shanks, becomes the pupil and a source of inspiration for the legendary pirate. Though he has no intention of returning to the sea, Rayleigh is a valuable support to Luffy.
Mountain Eater Scopper Gaban
Gaban retired to raise a child in Elbaph.
The Pirate King's Left Hand is back in the story with the Elbaph arc. He spends his time in the land of giants with his family. He is an accepted member of the community, in a relationship with the giant Ripley and the father of Colon. He also spends his time traveling the world and meeting former members of Roger's crew. He is a deeply loyal character, always ready to fight.
Gaban was nicknamed "Mountain Eater" even before the crew began their journey to Laugh Tale. After an incident that injured Roger, Gaban protected his captain at the hospital. Enemy pirates surrounded them on a mountain, and Gaban defeated all the opponents alone. He also felled all the trees on the mountain in the process. Even in his old age, Gaban is not an easy man to defeat. He still has his axes and is ready to use them.
The Pirate King's Doctor, Crocus
Crocus was once the greatest doctor in the world.
Before becoming a pirate, Crocus was just a lighthouse keeper on Reverse Mountain. During this time, he got along well with the Rumbar Pirates and Laboon. He agreed to take care of Laboon until their return, but none of the Rumbar Pirates ever returned to Reverse Mountain. As a lighthouse keeper, Crocus was also an exceptional doctor. He was considered the best doctor in the world at the time because he was the only one who could treat Roger's symptoms.
Crocus was part of Roger's crew for only three years. He returned to his lighthouse after Roger's execution. Since then, he has been taking care of Laboon, while the whale on the island tries to destroy the Red Line. He digs tunnels in the whale, the only way to administer medicine. After meeting the Straw Hat crew, he waits for them to achieve their dreams and return to Laboon.
The Daimyo of Kuri, Kozuki Oden
Kozuki Oden is the legitimate shogun of Wano.
Oden was always strong. He led a life of rebellion, which caused him to be demoted by his father. Despite this, his good actions allowed him to gather a group of servants who now dedicate their lives to him. He became the leader of the Kuri region on the island of Wano and brought peace to these lands ravaged by crime. However, he always dreamed of leaving Wano. He seized the first opportunity to join the Whitebeard Pirates.
Oden strongly challenged Roger during their first meeting, but he lost to the Pirate King. Interested in Oden's ability to read Poneglyphs, Roger allowed his entire family to board his ship. Oden engraved Roger's message on the Golden Bell of the Shandoran Belfry. Oden saw Laugh Tale and returned to Wano after the crew disbanded. From there, he had to face Kurozumi Orochi and Kaido's plan to take control of the island. After humiliating himself for years, Oden opposed them and sacrificed his life for his people.

Kozuki Toki was born over 800 years ago. Thanks to the Time Devil Fruit, she projected herself into the future. After Oden saved her life, they fell in love on Whitebeard's ship. She joined Roger's crew with Oden and their children. However, Toki, falling ill, could not see Laugh Tale. She returned to Wano after forcing Oden to continue his journey. She and her children were loved there, but it wasn't enough to counter Orochi's plots.
After her husband's death and the resistance of the Nine Red Scabbards, Toki found a way to save her country and her children. She sent a group of servants to the future with Kozuki Momonosuke. She entrusted Kozuki Hiyori to Kawamatsu. After that, Toki went public and prophesied that Wano would be saved in 20 years. Then she was killed.
Emperor Red-Haired Shanks
Shanks is the most famous apprentice of Pirate Roger.
Shanks is the most famous of Roger's apprentices. During the God Valley incident, he was found in a treasure chest. Roger's pirates took him in and raised him from a young age. Shanks was actively involved in every incident involving Roger's pirates. Shanks did not go to Laugh Tale because he was taking care of a sick Baggy. He was in Loguetown during Roger's execution.
Shanks spent over ten years in East Blue, recruiting crew members and gaining power. He stole the Gum Gum fruit and became Luffy's idol. Eventually, Shanks left for the Grand Line and became the youngest Emperor. Known for his strength, Shanks is called the Wandering Emperor. He is also related to the Celestial Dragon, Figarland Garling. Currently, Shanks is in the New World, finally attempting to seize the One Piece.
Emperor Buggy the Star Clown
Buggy is unintentionally one of the most powerful pirates in the world.
Emperor Buggy the Star Clown
Buggy appears in the One Piece anime as a relatively weak pirate obsessed with treasure. Despite himself, he gradually gained importance. It is unclear how Buggy joined the Roger Pirates, but he has been part of the crew since his youth. Buggy has always been afraid of confrontation and fighting, but he was still involved in the actions of the Roger Pirates. Just before the crew reached Laugh Tale, Buggy contracted a serious illness that prevented him from going to the final island.
Buggy was sent to Impel Down after nearly executing Luffy at the same spot where he had seen his captain die. Since then, he became a Warlord of the Sea and the face of one of the most powerful organizations in the New World. With the dissolution of the Warlords, he is now an Emperor. Initially, Buggy wanted Shanks to go after the One Piece, but now he wishes to bring the Cross Guild to the final island.
Duke Inuarashi, Daimyo of Kuri
Inuarashi is the former ruler of the Day on Zou.
Inuarashi is the former Sovereign of the Day in the Kingdom of Mokomo on Zou. He was an apprentice on Roger's ship and one of Oden's servants. As a child, he joined Oden, helped by Oden and Nekomamushi. They both followed Oden to the Whitebeard Pirates, and then to Roger's crew. However, he did not see Laugh Tale when he returned to Wano with Toki and the children. During his time on Wano, he fought alongside Oden.
After Toki's death, Inuarashi returned to Zou. Eventually, Kaido's Jack and his crew attacked the Mink tribes. He fought to ensure the safety of his people, but the Minks were defeated until the Straw Hat Pirates arrived. He arrived in Wano with several other Minks to overthrow Kaido and Orochi. He helped recruit Ashura Doji for their fight. He participated in the raid on Onigashima, but Inuarashi was injured in battle. He decided to retire from Mink politics and stay in Wano as the Daimyo of Kuri.
Master Nekomamushi, Former Sovereign of Zou
Nekomamushi is the former ruler of the Night on Zou.
Nekomamushi and Inuarashi left Zou as children due to the agreement between the Minks and the Kozuki family. After Oden saved him, Inuarashi and Kawamatsu joined his servants. Like Inuarashi, Nekomamushi followed Oden to the Whitebeard and Roger crews. He also stayed with Toki when she returned to Wano with the children.
When Inuarashi and Nekomamushi returned to rule Zou, their relationship deteriorated. A long-standing rivalry linked them during their reign. After participating in the raid on Onigashima, Inuarashi noticed and fought Admiral Ryokugyu. He remains in Wano to help protect it, even though he no longer holds a title.
