Profile
Wethermon is an armored samurai who stands and protects the tomb of Setsuna. He is located in the "Hidden Field," an inverted version of the secret Hidden Garden location. To reach him, players must begin the Unique Scenario "From the World of the Living, With Love."
At the moment the group is transported to the Hidden Garden, all player levels are reduced to 50. All stat points applied after level 50 are also lost, which can cause issues with equipment that has minimum stat requirements.

During the first two phases, it is not actually Wethermon acting, but his motorized armor performing its task of protecting the tomb. It moves without any input from its owner, much like Setsuna of Faraway Days. In Phase 3, Wethermon regains consciousness. This changes his element from "machine" to "undead." Since his physical body is "fixed" to the armor by advanced technology, the person inside is still a young man in his prime. Once Wethermon enters Phase 3, he wakes up, canceling the "fixation" and instantly aging, turning to dust and effectively ending his life. He can only continue moving until the challengers discover the secret behind Tensei, thanks to an engine that overcomes any physical failure.
Background
Long ago, during the era known as Divinity, a fleeting encounter combined with a lie told on a whim by Wethermon led to Setsuna's death. Wethermon then decided to guard her tomb for a very, very long time. Setsuna, understanding this trait of Wethermon's, wished just before her death that "someone would stop him, because he will never leave his post until he is—even if he must die." This gave birth to Setsuna of Faraway Days.
The sterile cherry tree was planted by Wethermon next to Setsuna's tomb; it was Setsuna's favorite flower. It was "fixed" in place just like Wethermon, but because its fixation was not as complete as Wethermon's, it began to wither. To stop this, Wethermon used the research thesis left by Setsuna to harness the magical power of the moon and "reverse" time and space around it, transporting the tomb (the buried Setsuna) and the tree from before it was fatally ill to a zone at the back of time and space. The "normal space" of the zone is represented in the rotten wood block, while the "back space" is an impression made from it. Time stopped in the back space at the moment of inversion; in normal space, Setsuna's tomb completely collapsed, and the tree, though still standing, is now completely dead. However, since Setsuna was buried by the roots of this tree, the place where the stone stood was considered "Setsuna's location," and thus, Setsuna of Faraway Days was born from the cherry tree in normal space.
In addition to being "fixed," the tree received various other semi-permanent life-extension treatments. Once it died, these treatments, having nowhere to go, began to energize the vegetation over a wide area around them. This allowed the luminescent moss, which normally emits just a faint glow, to shine as brightly as the sun, and what was previously a large cave transformed into a lush, jungle-like environment with flowers covering every inch of the floor. Thus, in an indirect way, the Prism Forest Cave as it is seen today was the work of Wethermon himself.
Wethermon's Phases
- Phase 1: Wethermon benefits from "Super Armor" and a damage reduction effect during Phases 1 and 2, which nullifies nearly all attacks. He also blocks debuffs and other types of magic. As soon as the fight begins, he always targets the player closest to him and always aims for the head, so this first attack is avoidable if they crouch during his wind-up movement. Due to his history, his priority is protecting Setsuna's tomb. Players close to it (or who try to destroy it) will always be targeted first.
- Phase 2: After ten minutes, Phase 2 begins. Wethermon then summons his mount golem, "Kirin." Players must keep Kirin busy; if he merges with Wethermon, the fight becomes significantly more difficult. After about ten more minutes, phase 2 ends.
- Phase 3: When Phase 3 begins, he still attempts to use Tenki Yohou. Having become "undead," he can now be interrupted. Wethermon's armor is destroyed, allowing attacks to cause damage. However, unless the attacks are powerful enough, he will ignore them and attack anyway. In Phase 3, Wethermon starts using new abilities but also begins losing HP every second, reaching zero after about ten minutes if left alone—but this will not defeat him. The fight only ends if all players are alive after Seiten Taisei—they must all survive the Tensei slash. If one dies to Tensei and is resurrected, they must start all over. If Wethermon loses his blade, his actions are heavily restricted, significantly reducing the difficulty of the fight. However, winning the fight this way will cause Setsuna's affinity for them to drop, and they will only receive the Inventory Key as a reward (the Tome of Truth will not be awarded).

Abilities
- Wind Slash [Tachikaze (断風)]: A lethal attack that breaks guard, known for lasting only one frame (1/60 sec). Players must read his "signal" in advance, but it is too short to spot on the first try. When executed, he draws the katana to release concentrated wind pressure resembling a crescent wind.
- Nimbus Fist [Nyudo-Gumo (入道雲)]: After charging, he unleashes a "cloud" hand that ravages the area and kills on contact. This attack cannot be blocked and must be dodged, the best spot being behind Wethermon, as it is a frontal attack. It can also be outrun. When executed, he raises his right fist and expels mist to form a giant cloud hand that strikes targets.
- Thunderclap [Raisho (雷鐘)]: Rains down five deadly lightning bolts per second for five seconds. These home in on players to an extent and can cluster, wiping out an entire team at once. This attack must be dodged. When executed, he grips the hilt with both hands above his head, channels blue lightning before swinging down, followed by lightning falling from the clouds.
- Export-Summon Call: Tactical Mount Kirin: A summoning move to bring forth a mechanical horse. Usually forms a black circle symbol with Japanese script, and from a flash, a type of summon appears.
- Tidal Rush [Ohshike (大時化)]: A grab move used when Wethermon loses his sword. Smash damage is greater depending on the target's weight, so tanks and heavies take serious damage. The attack comes directly at the target, so dodging is not too difficult. The move can also be parried. Wethermon can also use it while wielding the sword. Performs an open-handed smash/grab attack that leaves aftershock effects.
- Pyroclastic Wyrm [Kasairyu (火砕龍)]: Used only when Wethermon's "Attack Focus" is targeted on three or more people. By planting his blade in the ground, he chooses a random "Attack Focus" target and summons a pillar of flames that takes the form of long draconic heads from the ground where he stands. Dodging is not difficult, but it is usually paired with Hai-Fubuki, and at its worst, can wipe out entire teams.
- Ash Blizzard [Hai-Fubuki (灰吹雪)]: Used in tandem with Kasairyu, the flame pillars turn into dark smoke in the air, covering a 5-meter radius around the area where Kasairyu was launched with a suffocating mist. As a choking move, it is much harder to endure than being shot down.
- Tenki Yohou (天鬼夜咆): A wide shockwave released upon entering Phase 3. Wethermon is "undead" type in Phase 3, so a high-level purification item or magic can nullify it. This penetrates armor, so it kills instantly if it hits completely.
- Clear Sky Conquest [Seiten Taisei (晴天大征)]: A "Berserk Mode" triggered ten minutes after the start of Phase 3. Unleashes a near-flurry of special moves for 30 seconds, which are chosen at random. This can potentially leave Wethermon open to attacks if, for example, he launches several consecutive Tachikaze attacks. "Tensei" triggers after 30 seconds if he has his sword. Activation phrase: "Through the Cycle of Rebirth and a Parting Gift, I bring the Ultimate End with the Transformation of the 'Clear Sky,' I give the Ultimate Strike. That which can even cleave Dragons..." (わが窮極を 超えね限り この身は弊るるこ とあらず): Without surpassing my excellence, I shall never fall. During premature activation, all red and blue aura becomes completely black around the body for a moment.
- Sky Clear [Tensei (天晴)]: Wethermon's Ultimate Attack. A vertical slash that instantly destroys its target thanks to its stacked properties such as: Instant Death, Armor Piercing, Armor Breaking, Magic Piercing, and Skill Piercing. This attack cannot be dodged as it is always preceded by an immobilization effect that disables the target's leg movement. This attack can only be parried with perfect timing similar to a critical parry. Because leg movement is restricted, the target must be in the perfect position beforehand, otherwise they will be at a disadvantage. If Tensei is not overcome correctly, the sequence will repeat indefinitely. Successfully overcoming Tensei wins the fight.
Mount
During Phase 2, Wethermon summons Kirin (騏驎), the Tactical Mechanical Horse, from his storage hyperspace. If left alone, the horse will dash across the field, firing missiles and lasers at random. After some time, it will try to merge with Wethermon. Its weakness is that it constantly tries to buck anyone who rides it. The best way to stop it until Phase 3 is to treat it like a rodeo horse. During Phase 3, it is open to damage but has more vitality than Wethermon.
Kirin has 3 forms:
- Horse: Resembling a futuristic mechanical warhorse breathing steam and waving cables as a tail. In this form, Kirin mostly runs around the field, spitting missiles and lasers. It enters a "bucking" motion when a player mounts it.
- Mount: In this form, Kirin merges with Wethermon during Phase 2. Kirin's head transforms into a centaur-like shape, spitting missiles, lasers, and lightning rains as it waves its arms. It is impenetrable to damage.

- Armor: Kirin takes this form in Phase 3. When its HP drops below 40% and its abdominal armor breaks, it goes berserk and attacks all targets indiscriminately. A hittable energy core is located behind its abdominal laser cannon. If it merges with Wethermon before using Seiten Taisei, the result is gargantuan and hellish.
Recommended Party
The recommended party consists of 6 to 7 people, each needing to bring 3 to 4 resurrection items. The Striker for Wethermon, if possible, should be tanks with evasion skills or classes with plenty of evasion-type magic. The Striker for Kirin should be someone with good player skills (or the "Rider" class) who can mount Kirin without being bucked off. Support should consist of people with classes providing buffs or resurrection magic.
Trivia
Originally, Wethermon's statistics were even higher, making him impossible to beat. However, since he is part of the story, Tsukuyo and Ritsu disagreed, and Ritsu ended up reducing his statistics to balance him.
Wethermon is the first Colossus defeated; however, because he was meant to be defeated later as mid-to-end game content, it caused some panic among the game developers.
