After all, Speedwagon was always by Jonathan's side during "Phantom Blood", then remained a loyal ally to Joseph during "Battle Tendency".

In the parody isekai anime "Konosuba", Darkness (or Dustiness Ford Lalatina) stands out among the series' eccentric waifus, who include the explosion-loving Megumin and the clumsy child goddess Aqua. Fans especially appreciate Aqua for her looks and Megumin for her personality, while Darkness is the most well-rounded of them all.

Mirko, or Rumi Usagiyama from "My Hero Academia", is the fifth professional hero according to the Japanese Hero Billboard. His legs are incredibly powerful, and a single kick can put whole crowds of villains out of action.
Mirko has a tough personality and prefers to work independently, unlike most of her peers. She's a fierce fighter who never backs down from a fight, even after sustaining serious injuries. Her personality is impressive enough, but added to her stunning character design, Mirko is the complete package.
24/ Casca - Berserk
Even in a seinen as dark as "Berserk", there are endearing characters. Casca, the knight, is the best waifu in "Berserk", by far. She's tough but fair, a former member of Griffith's mercenary gang, and quickly becomes Guts' lover.
Casca has suffered much but never gives up hope, and her leadership proves both skillful and inspiring after Griffith's capture. She's also a charming tsundere with empathetic vulnerabilities that she hides behind her chivalrous bravado and shining armor in battle.
Shocking twists, dramatic revelations and unexpected horror all contribute to making Kentaro Miura's "Berserk" a captivating read from start to finish.
23/ Nobara Kugisaki - Jujutsu Kaisen
Nobara Kugisaki represents a demographic often lost in anime. Not only is she a skilled and competitive fighter, but she also enjoys many traditionally feminine things. She's as fond of shopping as she is of putting Cursed Spirits in their place.
Nobara is one of the best anime waifus because she doesn't conform to conventional anime feminine tropes. She feels like a real, human teenager. She enjoys spending time with her friends, playing pranks, and is fiercely protective when provoked. Nobara shows the world that women are just as complex as men.
22/ Pyrrha Nikos - RWBY
Although Pyrrha Nikos perished after only three short seasons of "RWBY", she remains a fan-favorite character and her absence is deeply felt. Pyrrha was presented as the strongest fighter on the JNPR team, and she generously supported Jaune as a caring friend and training partner.

There's no doubt that Makima is a well-written antagonist who has succeeded in her role as "Chainsaw Man's" despicable puppeteer. Makima also has a striking character design that's neither vulgar nor overly sexualized, which helps cement her status as an unconventional but unforgettable waifu anime.
20/ Shinobu Kocho - Demon Slayer
Shinobu Kocho from "Demon Slayer" is the Insect Hashira who stole the show when she appeared in the Natagumo Mountain arc. She adopts a very jovial and friendly attitude towards everyone. While this makes her attractive to most, watching her defeat bloodthirsty demons with a calm smile is terrifying.
Despite her hatred for demons, Shinobu shows compassion for Tanjiro and Nezuko after hearing of their ordeals. She has suffered many traumas, but it's admirable that she never loses her cheerful personality and keeps on fighting.
19/ Maki Oze - Fire Force
Maki Oze is a real will-o'-the-wisp in "Fire Force". She's a fierce fighter who never backs down in the face of danger and is never afraid to speak her mind, no matter how others feel.
Although her peers criticize her for her brutal behavior and judge her for not being "feminine enough" by their standards, Maki faces adversity head-on and continues to be herself without apology. Despite her tough, muscular exterior, Maki is a hopeless romantic who is in tune with her emotions.
18/ Ochaco Uraraka - My Hero Academia
Ochaco Uraraka was one of the first friends Izuku Midoriya made at the prestigious UA school, and has been a tireless supporter of Deku ever since. Like him, Ochaco is an outsider with everything to prove, and has come a long way since her introduction.
Ochaco stands out as an exceptional waifu in many ways, from her warm and cheerful charisma to her excellent attitude, impressive fighting style and charming appearance. MHA fans will also love Ochaco's healthy and loving friendship with Deku, which shows just how great a partner Ochaco can be for anyone she meets.
17/ Saber - Fate Series
Saber, or Artoria Pendragon, is a Saber-class servant. She's a courageous fighter who's not afraid to get her hands dirty in battle. Determined and trustworthy, Saber always gets the job done. She hates being infantilized simply because she's a woman.
Saber has proven time and again that she is stronger than most of her male peers. She has a strong moral compass and always strives to resolve conflicts fairly for all parties involved. Saber is by far the most popular character in the Fate series, and one of the best waifus in anime.
16/ Kurisu Makise - Steins;Gate
Kurisu Makise from "Steins;Gate" is a sarcastic genius who isn't afraid to speak her mind. She's a tsundere who has won the hearts of fans with her pungent sense of humor, creative wit and realistic outlook on life. Kurisu's development may not be as strong as that of other characters in the series, but the subtle nuances of her story arc have made fans fall in love with her. Kurisu is quite lonely and values memories more than most - something many fans can relate to. Kurisu rarely keeps her cool and is the voice of reason in all situations. General Esdeath is a military commander renowned for his devastating ice powers and his worldview based on the "law of the strongest". Esdeath grew up in a harsh environment where her tribe's survival was always at stake, so she learned to be practical and pragmatic in all things.
Esdeath has maintained this attitude as a general, asserting that the weak deserve to die and the strong deserve to conquer all. However, she also has a gentle side. Esdeath quickly becomes attached to Tatsumi, becoming a caring lover and an excellent waifu anime before finally realizing that Tatsumi is actually her enemy.
14/ Miku Nakano - The Quintessential Quintuplets
Miku Nakano, from "The Quintessential Quintuplets", has won the hearts of fans and established herself as the series' favorite waifu. A classic dandere, she is kind and caring, but also extremely shy and reserved.
Miku, sweet and insecure, contrasts sharply with her sisters Itsuki and Nino. However, she does her best to impress their tutor Futaro and express her true desires. Miku will even attempt to bake for him, even though she's not exactly an outstanding pastry chef. Her reserved nature and quiet determination make her an endearing waifu and a deeply relatable character.
13/ Nico Robin - One Piece
One Piece's vast ensemble of characters includes some strong contenders for the title of waifu, including Nami the navigator, the elegant Boa Hancock and the heroic princess Vivi Nefeltari. Overall, however, it's kuudere Nico Robin who is the best waifu in the series.
Nico Robin is a villain turned heroine, who shocked and delighted One Piece fans with her sudden but honest request to join the Straw Hat crew. She has remained a loyal and reliable teammate ever since, seducing fans with her cool beauty, remarkable Fruit of the Demon, extraordinary skills and elegant outfits.
12/ Miyo Saimori - My Happy Marriage
Miyo Saimori is one of anime's kindest characters. Despite growing up in a family that hated her, Miyo continues to treat them with kindness and respect, two qualities she carries with her in her commitment to Kiyoka Kudo.
It would be very easy for Miyo to sink into despair, but she tries to see the positive in any situation. She cares about the people around her, as she always has. Miyo doesn't think she deserves or needs much in life, but she's always grateful to anyone who shows her kindness and makes sure to reciprocate. Miyo is one of the best waifus in the anime because she remains a pleasant person despite so much misery.
11/ Violet Evergarden (Violet Evergarden)
Violet Evergarden was raised to be a weapon. Until the beginning of the series, Violet never had any autonomy. She only did what she was told, never asking questions. However, fans learn that her superior, Major Gilbert Bougainvillea, helped her realize that she deserved to live like everyone else.
Violet is extremely loyal and selfless. She goes out of her way to help others in need, even when they're not initially kind to her. Violet is also a determined young woman, who makes it her goal to find the meaning of love and help others express their feelings.
10/ Marin Kitagawa - My Dress-Up Darling
Marin Kitagawa's appeal can sometimes be rather PG-13, but anime fans love it for more than just fan service. My Dress-Up Darling revolves around the "opposites attract" friendship between Marin and her male dandere friend, Wakana Gojo. The two have excellent on-screen chemistry.
Marin is one of the best waifus in anime, with her energetic genki girl personality, whimsical imagination and inspiring passion for all things cosplay. Marin doesn't mess around with friendships, cosplay or love, and she's refreshingly frank about them.
9/ Kaguya Shinomiya - Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War
Kaguya Shinomiya comes from a fabulously rich and powerful family, but she doesn't want her family's status to define her. Instead, Kaguya wants to pursue her own interests and get what she wants with her own power. Her servants and butlers can do so little for her.
Kaguya Shinomiya once had an ice-queen personality, but now she's a warm, caring girl who quickly supports all her friends, from Chika and Yuu to Nagisa. She also has a sharp, witty mind that enables her to outwit Miyuki Shirogane time and again. Kaguya is a little naive but sincere, which makes for a charming combination.
8/ Yoruichi Shihoin - Bleach
The popular shonen anime Bleach boasts several exceptional waifus, from Rukia Kuchiki to Orihime Inoue and Rangiku Matsumoto. Among them, ninja-like Yoruichi Shihoin has established herself as the best. She is one of Bleach's strongest and most memorable characters, making her a strong contender for the waifu title.
Yoruichi is popular as an anime waifu not only for her beauty, but also for her playful personality and strong sense of loyalty and duty, admirable traits in any partner. She's also tough and reliable, an expert fighter who will quickly defeat anyone who threatens her dear friends.

Mikasa Ackerman is Eren Yeager's childhood friend, although recent events have driven them apart. Eren's harsh words towards Mikasa are downright cruel, and without a doubt, all Attack on Titan fans are on Mikasa's side rather than Eren's.
However, on her own merits, Mikasa is a wonderful waifu. She's loyal, caring and protective. Mikasa is also an incredibly skilled fighter. Mikasa is also rather sentimental in a world where sentimentality seems dead, and will never stop fighting for what is right.
6/ Fuyutsuki - The Ice Guy And His Cool Female Colleague
Fuyutsuki is one of anime's most compassionate waifus. Although she doesn't show much emotion, Fuyutsuki's kindness seems to have no limits. She goes out of her way to provide her colleague (and love) Himuro with tents for his plants so he can enjoy the flowers without freezing them, and she even goes out to get coffee for herself and her friends simply because she felt like it.
Even when Fuyutsuki first met Himuro while trapped in the ice, her first instinct was to stop and share a hot tea with him, even though it was her first day at work. Fuyutsuki puts the needs of others before her own and remains gracious even in tense situations. Fuyutsuki is the best female colleague you could ask for.
5/ Zero Two - DARLING In The FRANXX
Zero Two is often considered the best part of the DARLING in the FRANXX anime, by far. This particular mecha anime has some serious problems, but Zero Two's character isn't one of them. She was introduced early in the series, and fans loved her from the start.
Zero Two is famous for her singular yet charming demeanor and fierce attitude in battle. She's also totally devoted to Hiro, and has an intriguing backstory as a humanoid monster with horns. She also pilots the series' most powerful mecha, Stelizia, something no other waifu anime character could do.
4/ Erza Scarlet - Fairy Tail
The Fairy Tail anime has several potential waifus. There are some great female mages who could easily claim the top Waifu spot. Arguably, sword-wielder Erza Scarlet is Fairy Tail's best waifu and one of the best anime waifus of all time.
Fans of Yoruichi Shihoin or Zero Two will also find much to love in Erza, from her tough but fair attitude to her impressive fighting skills and fun hobbies. She loves armor, theater, cakes and Jellal Fernandez, and is quick to act like a responsible big sister to Natsu and Gray when necessary.
3/ Hinata Hyuga - Naruto
Hinata Hyuga is a striking character in Naruto. She's a dandere who was inspired when Naruto Uzumaki shared heartfelt words with her during the Chunin exam arc. Since then, the shy Hinata has worked hard to live up to Naruto's expectations of her.
Hinata is now a confident shinobi who will willingly risk her life for the sake of her duty or her village; it's no wonder Naruto fell in love with her later on. She and Naruto are now married and happy in Boruto, and Hinata is an exemplary partner and mother as an outstanding anime waifu.
2/ Tohru - Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid
Tohru is a unique version of the "magic girl" concept: a powerful dragon capable of taking on the form of a young blonde woman dressed as a servant. The series is also an example of the "reverse isekai" genre, with Tohru learning the customs of modern Japanese society while remaining true to her fantasy roots.
Tohru is easy to love because she can do anything. Whether it's wearing pretty outfits, fighting thugs and monsters or looking after Kanna, Tohru remains a wonderful friend to Kobayashi and one of the best waifu characters in anime.
1/ Rem - Re:Zero
Rem is a loyal, hard-working servant like Tohru, except that she's not a dragon but an ogre. In this case, it's her ally Subaru Natsuki who has found herself in another world. When she first appears, Rem and her pink-haired sister, Ram, are servants working on the Mathers estate.
Rem is wary of Subaru at first, but she soon becomes one of her main allies and fights fiercely on her behalf for some time. Fans love Rem for her combination of charming personality, strong sense of loyalty and fighting skills. Her charming appearance and devoted nature make her an exceptional anime waifu.
