TOP 10 best Sailor Moon episodes!

TOP 10 best Sailor Moon episodes!

Filler episodes tend to count against the quality of an anime, but Sailor Moon's filler episodes have compelling and humorous arcs.

The original Sailor Moon anime of the 1990s begins with considerably long seasons. Seasons 1 and 2 each have over forty episodes. This is because the series strayed from the manga's plot by adding numerous filler episodes. The creators followed the fashion of anime and cartoons of the time, with numerous moral messages and scenes of slapstick humor.

Filler episodes tend to count against the quality of an anime, but Sailor Moon's filler episodes have compelling and humorous arcs. For original Sailor Moon fans, many filler episodes have the most magical girl nostalgia. Some episodes are also essential to character exploration and foreshadow canonical events later in the series.

10/ Usagi sends a love letter to a radio station

10 secrets de fabrication de Sailor Moon | VL Média

Love is a powerful force in Sailor Moon , and the Dark Kingdom is trying to take advantage of the romantic love of girls and women. Stubborn queen Beryl hatches a plan to create a fake radio station that harvests the energy of people who send their love letters to read them on air. The senders want their emotions to be heard, perhaps by the object of their affection, only to have their energy ruthlessly stolen.

"Mysterious Sleeping Sickness" shows a softer side of Usagi's teacher, Mrs. Haruda, who signs her love letter "Hopeful Haruda". Mrs. Haruda may be a hard-working teacher, but she harbors a secret love that never came true, and her letter is rather sentimental. This is also the episode where Usagi really begins to recognize the crush she has on Tuxedo Mask and prophetically dreams of a day when her crush might turn into true love.

9/ Sailor Mars and Sailor Moon bicker comically

Sailor Mars is a newcomer to Senshi at the start of the first season. Sailor Mars, Rei, is driven and has a pragmatic personality, while Sailor Moon is much more sensitive and whimsical. The two personalities naturally clash, and "Usagi vs. Rei: Nightmare in Dreamland" solidifies the tone of their dynamic.

Sailor Mars begins to fall for Tuxedo Mask, making Sailor Moon feel insecure and territorial. The two Senshi are drawn to the dreamlike world of the Dark Kingdom as they exploit the Senshi's weakness for Tuxedo Mask. The two lunar Senshi on Tuxedo Mask are quite comical and foreshadow the eventual but short-lived encounter phase between Rei and Mamoru.

8/ Inner Senshi gets stuck on a cursed cruise ship

Some of the villains in Sailor Moon and Youma are truly disturbing, like Thetis in "I want a boyfriend: the luxury cruise ship is a trap". Once again, the Dark Kingdom exploits people's desire for romantic love for their own energy-harvesting purposes. The episode is far from repetitive, however, as plenty of action and chilling maritime horror ensues.

Sailor Moon uses her Disguise Pen only a few times throughout the series, and she uses it to impersonate a photographer in "I Want a Boyfriend". Filler episodes like this are perfect for allowing the Inner Senshi to bond with each other, as Rei and Ami attend the luxury cruise together as single women. Sailor Mercury and Sailor Mars have only been part of the Senshi crew for a short time, and their personalities are already blending well as they sail the Youma-haunted ship.

7/ Usagi is fooled by a modeling system

Sailor Moon : où et quand acheter la version remarsterisée en Blu-ray et DVD en France ?

An episode about modeling may seem frivolous, but there's plenty of humor and nostalgia for Sailor Moon fans in "Usagi's a Model: The Flash of the Monster Camera". The Kingdom of Darkness develops a modeling project, attracting young people hoping for an artistic career. The premise is brilliant because it echoes a very real modeling project taking place in real life, where fake modeling agents exploit people's hopes and dreams, draining them of their money.

"Usagi's a Model" is an ode to '90s fashion and Japanese urban style with layering, overalls, pretty swimsuits and pastel color profiles. There's also a great tsundere-fueled interaction between Mamoru and Usagi, where he tells her about his work ethic and reveals that he was once a model. This isn't too surprising, given Mamoru's grace, beauty and personal style.

6/ Usagi and Mamoru finally begin to bond

Usagi and Mamoru reunite much earlier in the original manga and in Sailor Moon Crystal than in the original anime. Part of the reason their romance is so slow is due to filler episodes. Usagi and Mamoru also have more tsundere personalities in the original animated adaptation. While a tsundere-tsundere romance can be fun, it's not really conducive to a smooth, steadily progressing romance.

"The painting of love: Usagi and Mamoru get closer" is one of the first times Mamoru and Usagi spend time together. They've already had some sweet moments as Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask, but they still bicker tumultuously in their civilian forms. Mamoru sees a painting that reminds him of a dream he had of his past life with Usagi, and the two end up posing together in a painting by the same artist.

5/ Mamoru shows his caring side

Usagi ends up living with her future daughter, Chibiusa, later in the series, and she treats Chibiusa more like an annoying little sister than her daughter. This is understandable, as Usagi is still quite young when a little Chibiusa lands in her lap. Fortunately for Chibiusa, Mamoru is ready to be more of a nurturing presence.

"Usagi and Mamoru's Babysitting Mayhem" foreshadows Mamoru's responsibility, patience and fathering skills several episodes before Chibiusa's arrival. Usagi and Mamoru take on a babysitting job together, and Usagi learns much from Mamoru's kindness and natural talent with children. Naoko Takeuchi has written her characters outside traditional gender dynamics, and it's wonderful to see a fully fleshed-out, challenging male lead.

4/ Sailor Mercury finds her match

Sailor Mercury, Ami, is the fan-favorite Inner Senshi, and audiences can't get enough of her. She has a gorgeous palette of aquatic colors, from hair to boots, as well as dreamlike bubble-based powers. Mercury is also the sharpest-witted and smartest Senshi, and she's often the charming but acerbic voice of reason. "Crushing on Ami: The Boy Who Can See the Future" is a filler episode devoted to Sailor Mercury.

Sailor Moon is about friendship, magic, action and romance. Sailor Mercury indulges in a rare romantic interlude in "Crushing on Ami" with a character who seems perfectly designed for her. Ami could never be with someone who isn't interesting or boring. Not only does Ryo have perfect notes to rival Ami's, but he also possesses incredible psychic abilities.

3/ Poor Chibiusa has fallen on hard times

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal sortira sur Netflix le 3 juin et la bande-annonce du film est arrivée | DozoDomo

Chibusa, or Rini, is often criticized for being rather annoying, but in the end, she's a young girl with great responsibility who misses her mother. The episode "In search of the silver crystal: the secret of Chibi-Usa" reminds the audience of these facts. Chibiusa struggles with loneliness and a weight on her shoulders, in search of the silver crystal for her mother.

Chibiusa confides his worries to Luna-P, who does her best to reassure the young child. Character development aside, there's a certain mystery surrounding Chibiusa's sudden appearance and purpose that this filler episode unveils. Mamoru also assumes a parental and protective role for Chibiusa in "In Search of the Silver Crystal".

2/ Usagi fights jealousy

Learning to navigate a relationship can be difficult for any young person, especially someone like Usagi. Usagi regularly has teenage girl anxieties about growing up and maturing, the responsibilities of a superhero savior of the universe and the tragic past of a cursed princess. When Usagi and Mamoru finally start dating, Usagi must resolve some of her insecurities.

In "Protect Mamoru: Ninja Usagi's Jealousy", Mamoru has to stay temporarily at the Hikawa Shrine with Rei. Rei and Mamoru had been on a few awkward dates that had never constituted a relationship, and Usagi was uncomfortable with the idea of them staying in the same place. Rather than communicate her feelings clearly, Usagi hatches a plan to spy on them. The episode contains plenty of slapstick humor and is a learning moment for Usagi.

1/ Sailor Moon tries to help a brainwashed Endymion

Just as Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask recall their past lives and romance as Serenity and Endymion, Queen Beryl snatches Tuxedo Mask away. She further breaks Sailor Moon's heart by brainwashing Tuxedo Mask in Dark Endymion , turning Sailor Moon's kidnapped love against her. This marks the turning point in the Sailor Moon series, with Usagi going through increasing emotional pain.

Endymion is brainwashed for several episodes, and Sailor Moon deals with her feelings and grief in "I Will Run From Love No More: Friend vs. Mamoru". Sailor Moon also tries to heal and free Endymion in this episode. She doesn't succeed, and Sailor Mercury ends up having to fight Dark Endymion. This episode may be filler, but it contains some important emotional moments for Usagi, Mamoru and Ami.
