The members of Fairy Tail were threatened when Hades' guild, Grimoire Heart, vowed to destroy them. Natsu remembers all the pain Hades inflicted on his comrades and wants to make it go away. Erza, Wendy, Gray and Lucy all watch as the battle between Natsu and Hades begins.
The impossible always becomes possible when Natsu wants to protect his nakama. His friends see him push himself to the limit to defeat Hades while reminding his friends and viewers that even when there seems to be no hope, there is always a reason to keep going.

During the Tartaros Arc, Lucy is forced to face the Dark Guild alone. She was the only survivor of the Dark Guild's attack. Facing one of the demons, she is told that Happy and Natsu are dead. Not believing them, she summons several of her celestial and Aquarian spirits, it is thanks to Lucy and Natsu's interesting relationship that Lucy comes out of this battle alive.
Lucy remembered something Natsu had said earlier. His words were the reason she was able to stay strong and keep fighting even though it was possible that everyone she loved died in the battle.
3/ "If you don't have the courage to change things, you might as well die!"
Natsu, in a conversation with Sting, lets him know why winning the Grand Magic Games is so crucial to Fairy Tail's morale.
Natsu explains that winning is not bragging rights, but the pain his nakama had to endure while he was away and that it was the least he could do for them to hold on. Fairy Tail's victory meant that their family was complete again and that there was no longer a struggle to prove their worth.
2/ "The real fear is the thought that these happy days may not continue. To be able to laugh together again, we must fight. Our goal is not victory! We will fight to live! This is our fight!"
Fighting to see another day was Fairy Tail's goal when they had to fight the Alvarez Empire. Easily one of their toughest enemies throughout the series, there seemed to be little to no chance that Fairy Tail could escape unscathed. Throughout the various battles, Natsu was the one person everyone could count on to remind them to keep going.
Natsu's inspiring words were heard by all members of the Guild, no matter where they were on the battlefield. All of Fiore was touched by what he had to say and continued to fight to keep making memories with the people they love. This enemy may have been strong, but the wizards of Fairy Tail were stronger.

Zeref set the path that Natsu was supposed to follow. Natsu was created to destroy Zeref and in the end, Natsu would also die. Natsu was determined to create his own path and not be sealed by his fate. He shows his brother that no matter what is thrown at him, he will not break but will come back stronger.
Natsu's desire to change the world depended on eliminating Zeref, and although Natsu chose to fight Zeref, he refused to die because he knew he had so much more to live for. In order to change his destiny, he had to survive even after Zeref's defeat.
