The most powerful demons are handpicked by Muzan Kibutsuji, the demon king, to potentially gain more strength by drinking his blood. These are the twelve demonic moons, consisting of six higher ranks and six lower ranks. They are all extremely powerful and have given some of the most powerful Hashira in the Corps a hard time.

11/ Kyogai used his battery to attack and manipulate the environment of his opponent
Lower Moon 6

Kyogai was once the six moon of lower rank. He was excommunicated for his weakness, but he showed more fighting prowess than most other lower ranks. Kyogai could use the drums built into his body to rotate the room he was in and disorient his opponents.

In addition, Kyogai's drums could create lightning fast slashing attacks and even teleport anyone in the mansion to another room. His innate skills gave him an advantage in the field, making him one of the toughest demons Tanjiro and the gang faced..

10/ Rui created a powerful family of spiders and demanded that a Hashira be defeated

Lower Moon 5

Rui was the first of Muzan's twelve kizuki to make an appearance in Demon Slayer's Mount Natagumo arc. With his Blood Demon Art, Rui trapped other low-level demons in his web on the mountain. He saved their lives in exchange for them becoming his family. A tiny amount of his blood gave more power to the weaker demons and allowed his makeshift family to slaughter hundreds of killers over and over again.

Rui was the fifth lowest rank of the kizuki. He caused Tanjiro and Nezuko quite a bit of trouble, so much so that their latent abilities were exhausted. If Giyu had never arrived on the scene, they would have been defeated.

9/ Enmu's dream manipulation easily made him the strongest lower moon

Lower Moon 1

The only demon that survived Muzan's brutal laying off of the lower rank demons was Enmu. He was the lower rank demon and Muzan thought he would give him a chance to prove that he deserved to receive more of his blood.

Enmu's Demon Blood Art stole the show during Mugen Train. He put everyone on the train to sleep and guided a group of insomniacs into the dreams of the killers to locate their spiritual core, destroy it and kill them. He is probably the most powerful low-ranking demon and it took several killers to protect the passengers.

8/ Kaigaku felt weaker than his predecessors, lacking experience with his blood art

Although the Demon Slayer Corps works tirelessly to defend humanity against demons, not all members of the Corps are sure to have the best intentions. Kaigaku was Zenitsu's former classmate. They studied together under Jigoro Kuwajima. Kaifaku was bitter that they were both chosen as Jigoro's successors, wanting all the praise for himself.

Kaigaku could perform all the thunder breathing techniques except the first style. He never received the title of Hashira and agreed to be transformed into a demon to increase his power. Although he was inexperienced with Blood Demon Art, he was so strong that Muzan appointed him to the top rank 6.

7/ Gyutaro and Daki were linked as one and had one of the most tragic stories

Gyutaro and Daki shared the top rank six title, living as one after becoming demons. They stole the show during the Entertainment District arc and impressed the audience with their sheer strength.

Since Gyutaro and Daki were so powerful, viewers wondered how strong the rest of the top ranks were. It took the combined efforts of the main trio, Nezuko, Tengen Uzui and his three wives to eliminate them. There is no doubt that Gyutaro was the strongest of this sibling duo, but Daki's abilities were not to be overlooked.

6/ Gyokko used flashy attacks to overwhelm his opponents

Gyokko is the fifth highest rank of Muzan's twelve kizuki. He had some pretty flashy abilities and always put a creative spin on all his attacks. He seemed obsessed with arts and crafts, often working these skills into his fighting. Gyokko also had powers over water.

Gyokko traveled between decorative handmade pots, summoned fish-like demons and even used water to trap his opponents. He almost got the better of Muichiro, the young Mist Hashira. Fortunately, he dispatched him quickly and decisively after activating his Demon Slayer mark.

5/ Hantengu looked weak at first until his true personality was revealed

Hantengu is the top rank of the four in the twelve kizuki. At first glance, it may be difficult to understand why Hantengu was appointed to this position, but he proved to be one of the most formidable opponents in the series. Mitsuri, the Love Hashira, Tanjiro, Nezuko and the weapon-armed Genya had a hard time defeating this enemy.

Hantengu was a coward, but that fueled his power. His Blood Demon Art divided him into his primary emotions. When his weaknesses were attacked, his hatred took over and attacked his opponents.

4/ Nakime's ability to reorganize the castle made it almost impossible to manage

Nakime was awarded fourth place after defeating Hantengu. When she scratches her biwa, she can rearrange the Infinity Castle and instantly teleport anywhere she wants. She could also teleport other people.

Trying to find where Nakime was proved to be almost impossible. She was also able to avoid the sun, depriving the demon killers of their most powerful weapon. Her Blood Demon Art wasn't particularly dangerous, but she could send her opponents anywhere she wanted; including a tatami full of hungry demons.

3/ Akaza was strong enough to kill a Hashira

Akaza was a martial arts master strong enough to crush Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira. He also annihilated another Hashira, according to him. Akaza was one of the most formidable opponents in the entire series. His debut at the end of Mugen Train was quite terrifying, but the final battle against him proved to be difficult.

Akaza also had one of the most tragic backstories in the series, which many anime fans may not know. Even before Muzan found him, he called him a demon only because he was strong enough to kill hundreds of trained fighters with his bare hands.

2/ Doma was as cruel as he was powerful

Doma was by far the meanest demon of the twelve kizuki. As the two of the highest rank, nothing was too outrageous for him. His jaw was blown to oblivion by Akaza, and his body collapsed after a heavy dose of Wisteria poison, but nothing fazed him. He seemed to enjoy every moment of his demonic life.

Doma was responsible for the deaths of some of the Corps' loved ones, including Kanae Kocho and Inosuke's mother. His death required teamwork and careful planning. There is no doubt that he is one of the most powerful demons in the series.

1/ Kokushibo's combination of breathing techniques and blood demon arts earned him his place at the top

Upper moon 1

Kokushibo was a demon killer during the Sengoku era. He became a demon and retained much of his sword skills. He combined his breathing techniques with Blood Demon Art, which earned him the first place in the twelve kizuki.
