The anime world has introduced some of the most formidable villains on television, but none are as fierce as Frieza in Dragon Ball. He is one of the most popular antagonists of all time; his savagery is not limited to his actions, it often manifests in his scathing dialogue.

Frieza has annihilated entire planets, so his ability to toss out insults on the fly, like a Twitter troll, is hardly surprising. What makes his lines so impactful is their context and delivery. Going over all of Frieza's most memorable quotes would take days, if not weeks, but here is a look at his top 10 most iconic lines.
10. "Three shrimps and a spent Saiyan"
"So it's you. Naughty. I don't see how three shrimps and a spent Saiyan could have defeated the Ginyu Force, but now, it's your turn. Don't worry. It won't be too painful. Really. Death is my specialty."
First of all, you have to be a particular kind of maniac to say "death is my specialty." Second, part of his insult sounds like the start of a bad joke. "Three shrimps and a spent Saiyan walk into a bar..." And then? Bartender Frieza probably kills them all. While this quote is humorous in a way, Gohan, Krillin, Vegeta, and Dende were truly terrified of this ruthless killer.
9. "Live boldly"
"That's it. Let it all out. Live boldly... even if it is only for a few moments more."
This quote is preceded by a long evil monologue to which Vegeta replies: "I don't care if you hate me. I quit. I'm free now. To think I was nice to you all those years makes me want to puke." Frieza counters with a laugh and drops this line. Taunting your prey is one thing, but announcing their imminent death in the same sentence is simply cruel. But that's what Frieza does best: make you feel miserable before destroying your life or killing you.
8. "Find him or suffer"
"If you don't find him within the hour, you'll regret ever being born!"
Zarbon received this threat after Vegeta disappeared, leaving him perplexed. Zarbon was one of Frieza's right-hand men, and that's how he was treated, showing how deep Frieza's sadism runs. Although he never carries out his threat, he adds more by saying things like: "Don't you think you've disappointed me enough for today?" and "You are a disgrace as a warrior! You don't deserve to be near me!" Ouch.
7. "A fair warning"
"Before you begin your pathetic struggle to survive, I should warn you. Your chances of success are non-existent."
A strategic way to undermine your opponent's morale is to make them lose hope before they even try anything. Furthermore, calling their survival attempt "pathetic" is like driving a final nail into the coffin. This quote is one of Frieza's best known, and many fans have used it for photo captions, which is rather disturbing. To be fair, it's the villain doing what he does best, so we'll forgive him.
6. "50% of my maximum power"
"Don't be downcast. You should be flattered. I've never needed to gather this much of my power to defeat someone. Fifty percent of my maximum power. That's all I need for you."
Frieza is so powerful that he cannot control his strength in his original body. Consequently, he generated several physical transformations to balance himself. He initially had four forms (the fourth being his "true form"), but others like Mecha Frieza and Golden Frieza appeared later. Now, imagine someone that powerful facing you and confessing he is only using half of his potential.
5. "A strange sensation"
"Well, I must congratulate you. You're the first one who's ever hurt me... besides my loving parents, of course. It's been such a long time since I've felt pain. It's such a strange sensation."
Frieza is referring here to past incidents where he fought his parents and had to recover afterward in his final form. While little is revealed about his mother, it can be deduced that she was also very powerful. His father, King Cold, also possessed a ridiculously high power level. Regardless, you know your opponent is too intense when he destroys planets day and night and rarely feels repercussions or pain.
4. "Threatening Vegeta"
"You're quite a comedian, Vegeta. If only the rest of your Saiyan people were here to see the brave prince you've become, eh? But... it doesn't really matter, because I've cornered you like a frightened little mouse. Oh, don't worry, dear prince, I'll take care of you after I've handled your little Namekian boyfriend."

This quote perfectly represents Frieza's style of mockery. Although the villain dropped bombs on everyone he met, Vegeta was often the primary target of his taunts. He even cruelly mentions the eradication of the Saiyans and compares Vegeta to a rodent.
3. "A unique bonus"
"Observe. My left hand... its strength alone is enough to crush you like the bug you are, so, as an exceptional bonus today, I will fight you with the other hand behind my back. Now that the ground rules are established, shall we begin?"
The arrogance and condescension permeating this quote are almost unbearable. Few things are worse than a tyrant with immense physical strength, especially when he openly brags about it. It is also degrading to hear a villain claim he could destroy you with one hand behind his back, presented as a "bonus" like some kind of sales promotion.
2. "Who will die first"
"The sun is shining, the ocean is a sparkling blue, the mountains are visible in the background. It's absolutely perfect. Now, all we have to do is decide which of you is going to die first."
To speak of a plot twist is an understatement. The first part of this statement looks like a snippet of poetry straight out of the depths of Tumblr, but the last sentence is Frieza as we know him. His ability to seem so frightening after describing a beautiful landscape is both impressive and absurd.

"I doubt I need an introduction, but just in case, I am the mighty Frieza and yes, all the horrible stories you've heard are true."

This is probably the tyrant's most famous line and for good reason. It is bold, confident, and alarming all at once. He acknowledges the terrible prejudices one might have against him and readily admits they are true. Sadistic to the end, Frieza was always extremely proud of the destruction he caused and the lives he took. He repeated it several times throughout the series, and it doesn't get more devilish than that.
