Shiryu, also known as Shiliew or "Shiryu of the Rain", was the Head Warden of Impel Down until he was imprisoned by Magellan for his extreme violence toward inmates. During the chaos caused by Monkey D. Luffy and Marshall D. Teach, he chose to betray the prison and join the Blackbeard Pirates.
After the timeskip, he has become the Commander of the Second Ship of the Blackbeard Pirates.

Appearance
Shiryu is a massive man, standing at roughly the same height as Teach (3.44m). He wears a dark officer's uniform with ear-flaps on his hat, brown gloves, and is almost always seen smoking a cigar. His chin is notably prominent. Instead of wearing prison stripes during his incarceration, he was allowed to keep his uniform, which he pairs with a long captain's coat worn like a cape.
Following the timeskip, his outfit remains similar, though his coat is now black and the Impel Down insignias on his hat and belt have been replaced by the Blackbeard Pirates' skull emblems. He carries a long Nodachi named "Raiu," classified as a Meito.

Shiryu is a cold-blooded sociopath. He is defined by his extreme cruelty and a total lack of empathy or fear. He enjoys slaughtering anyone he can, including his own subordinates, often offering sarcastic apologies after the fact. Despite his bloodlust, he is highly intelligent and cautious; he was the only member of the crew to warn Teach about underestimating Magellan. He is a firm believer in fate, claiming that destiny led him to meet Blackbeard.
Abilities and Skills
As a former Head Warden, Shiryu's strength is said to rival that of Magellan. He possesses superhuman endurance, notably tanking a direct shockwave from Sengoku in Buddha form. He is a master swordsman, capable of drawing his Nodachi and killing multiple targets in a fraction of a second.
Suke Suke no Mi (Clear-Clear Fruit)
During the Wano Arc, it was revealed that Shiryu acquired the Suke Suke no Mi after the crew hunted down Absalom. This power allows him to turn himself and anything he touches invisible, making him an even more lethal assassin.

Shiryu was once the co-ruler of Impel Down alongside Magellan. However, his habit of murdering prisoners for sport led to his own death sentence. During Luffy's break-in, Magellan released Shiryu to help quell the riot, but Shiryu immediately betrayed the Marines, provided an antidote to the poisoned Blackbeard Pirates, and joined their ranks. Since then, he has participated in the Payback War and the assassination of Whitebeard, eventually rising to become a Fleet Commander.
