Appearance

Shigeo has black bowl hair and black eyes.

He is usually seen wearing the male uniform of Salt Middle School, a typical gakuran outfit. Shigeo has a rather plain expression on his face. However, whenever he reaches 100%, his eyes glow red or white and his hair is affected by his psychic powers, causing it to flutter and spike. His expression also changes to reflect the emotion he feels during this state.

Personality

As a child, Shigeo learned that his psychic power was linked to his emotions. Strong negative emotions can lead him to hurt others, which he hates and strongly avoids (as shown in the 7th division arc where, after going 100%, he hurt several teenagers). Therefore, he usually tries to control his emotions. However, in some cases he can control his powers, for example when he is at 100% courage.

He is socially awkward and has trouble "reading the atmosphere", which has led to his lack of friends. He is also easily startled in public, as seen when he remained silent for 5 minutes at the podium during a student speech in the presidential election.

Shigeo is a very forgiving and understanding person, who never holds grudges or resentment towards those who hurt him. This was first seen with Teruki , who relentlessly attacked Shigeo and choked him to try to retaliate, but despite this, the two became close friends. With Ritsu , who acquired psychic powers and wanted to fight Shigeo to prove he was stronger while trying to break their bond, Shigeo paid no attention to it, later praising Ritsu for his intelligence and other skills that Shigeo lacks, leaving Ritsu in tears. The most notable example of his ability to forgive is with Minori, who brutally bullied him for six months in a mental world created by Mogami and brought him to the brink of madness. Although he was hurt like that, Shigeo forgives her instantly and chooses to view his time in the mental world as a valuable lesson that Minori and Keiji taught him, saying in fact that he was glad they were able to meet.

Perhaps the most remarkable thing about Shigeo is his seemingly boundless compassion. When fighting villains, he often refuses to use his psychic powers unless necessary, preferring to talk to his enemies and try to reason with them. With Katsuya, despite being the enemy, Shigeo offered to be his friend and helped him become a better person by not hurting people anymore. With Toichiro Suzuki, although he destroyed most of Spice City, Shigeo still offers the hand of friendship and continues to try to reason with him. During their fight, he sympathizes with Suzuki because of the lonely life he leads and actually cries because he doesn't want to hurt him but has no choice. Then, when Suzuki is about to self-destruct, Shigeo makes the incredibly selfless decision to stay by his side in his last moments, as leaving him to die alone would be too sad, finally causing Suzuki to change.

In the Keiji Mogami arc, he lives for six months in a fantasy world created by the former bitter medium, Mogami. There he is without friends, family to support him or anything else. Despite this, it takes a lot of emotional manipulation, as well as physical damage, for Mogami to make Shigeo angry at his tormentors. Even then, he wants to offer them forgiveness. Also, instead of being bitter and seeing the world in a more negative light after this torment, he saw it positively. This meant that with all the horrible people and circumstances in the world, he was lucky to have his friends and family, and vowed to be even more grateful, demonstrating his very noble and pure character.

He is also morally opposed to using psychic abilities against others. He is, however, willing to set this principle aside in an emergency, such as when Ritsu is kidnapped.

Another of his principles is that psychic ability does not make him or others inherently better and that his psychic ability is not something he needs in life. This belief leads to conflict between him and Teru, Mogami, Toichiro and even his own brother, Ritsu. Even so, if the situation is serious enough, for example, his brother being kidnapped by the 7th Claw Division, he will use them without hesitation.

Because of this principle, and because he thinks that he lacks enormously in many other areas, Shigeo has a low opinion of himself, even though he is one of the most powerful espers in the series. As a result, Shigeo was initially very quiet and did not often express his opinion, keeping his thoughts and emotions mostly to himself. But over time, he began to speak up more and express his opinions on many things. This mainly affected his relationship with Reigen; In the beginning, Shigeo would follow Reigen almost anywhere and almost anytime and do whatever he told him without almost any objection. The only exception was against Ceiling Crasher when Shigeo reminded Reigen that he had asked his master not to summon him on such short notice. However, even then, he was not particularly irritated. But at the beginning of season 2,

This more confident side and growing suspicion of his master seemed to finally reach its peak after Shigeo had been living in the world of Mogami for six months and Reigen unexpectedly called him once again to deal with an evil spirit when Shigeo was going to have a very fun and socially engaging activity with his friends. After Reigen claims that his friends were simply mocking Shigeo and telling him to prioritize his work over his social life, even going so far as to call Shigeo gullible, this is the tipping point that makes Shigeo finally stand up to his master. He realizes that not everything Reigen said was true and declares that he was not as gullible as Reigen thought. From that moment on, he stops going to work and leaves Reigen for an indefinite period of time to have fun with his brother and his friends,

Shigeo also had a somewhat naive idea of the cruelty of the world, as he was protected from a harsh environment by a loving family, especially honor student Ritsu. Therefore, Mogami decided to place Shigeo in a mental landscape where he did not have his powers and was surrounded by horrible people he could not defend himself against. After six months of torment and being unconsciously motivated by Mogami, Shigeo had had enough. He was almost ready to unleash his psychic powers on his bullies, but he was stopped by Dimple, who reminded him who he was and brought him out of his amnesia. Despite being bullied for six months in the Mogami mindscape, he didn't seem to be traumatized after escaping, even stating that since the world was full of terrible people.

Shigeo Kageyama

Although Shigeo was not transformed by Mogami as he had originally intended, Mogami and the six months of torment have had an impact on Shigeo and his worldview. Although he does not seem psychologically traumatized by the experience, he seems to have become less naive and more knowledgeable about the world around him. It is possible that after seeing the horrible people in the world and how others used Mogami, he began to distrust his master even more and became less gullible as a result, which is why he left Reigen after concluding that his master was beginning to use him and treat him more like a tool than a person. In addition, he seems to have become tougher on his friends and allies after Mogami told him to be tougher on people when the time comes. Perhaps the most dramatic example of the effect Mogami may have had on Shigeo is how Shigeo became more willing to use his psychic powers excessively aggressively when the time called for it. The main example of this was when he began to violently and painfully twist and tear Toichiro Suzuki's body to end the fight, something he probably wouldn't have done before.

Despite his honorable and humble nature, Shigeo is not immune to praise and flattery. This was mainly shown after the Divine Tree arc when it appeared that he was becoming more popular and girls were talking to him or about him, and when he became aware that the Psycho Helmet cult had a meeting to worship their "leader". This caused him to enter a new state at 100%: 100% Rage, where his face transformed to become more defined, and he began to speak in a more self-righteous tone. This newfound overconfidence was noted by Reigen when Shigeo explained that a cult had been created because of his actions, an overestimation of himself and something Reigen thought was terribly arrogant. However,

History

Before meeting his master, Reigen, Shigeo was afraid of his own abilities and was looking for a guiding force to follow. He quickly learned from Reigen and his childhood crush, Tsubomi, that his psychic ability did not make him inherently greater than anyone else. He also learned that psychic ability should not be used against other people. This philosophy has led him to where he is now and is one of his many defining traits.

Spring Youth Arch

Shigeo first appeared when his master Arataka Reigen called him to exterminate an evil spirit named Ceiling Crasher. The spirit underestimated Shigeo, but he exorcised the Ceiling Crasher easily and quickly.

Shigeo was a teenager in his second year of middle school. Unlike his peers, Shigeo spent his time working as an assistant at a psychic company run by Reigen. He manned the front desk of the Spirits and Such Consultation Office . He observed that Reigen improved during massages on clients like the man in the grip of a one-click site curse. Reigen explained that these massages are only effective because of his spiritual powers.

The Telepathy Club of Salt Middle School was threatened with abolition because it was one member short of being considered a legitimate school club. They found Shigeo, an esper who had no club or committee, and tried to recruit him. But when Shigeo called Reigen to tell him that he was going to be late for work, Reigen advised against joining the Telepathy club, even with Telepathy club president Tome's persuasion about it. Shigeo decided to think about whether or not to join the club overnight.

Shigeo and Reigen got another job at Highso Private Girls' Academy, a private high school for girls only. Unable to get permission to enter the school, the two dressed in female uniforms go undercover. But Reigen's disguise was seen through, leaving only Shigeo to meet their clients on the school's roof. Upon reaching the roof, Shigeo took three thugs lounging there for his clients, Mari and Chihiro , who showed up and caught his attention when the thugs left. The girls said that their school did not take them seriously when they complained about supernatural events at school. So they called the cheapest exorcists in the area, Reigen and Shigeo.

Shigeo, Mari and Chihiro explored the school for spiritual events. Shigeo had only a slight sense of the supernatural. They heard a scream coming from the bathroom and ran there, only to find a student saying that something had peeked into the bathroom stall she was using. Shigeo, Mari and Chihiro continued to search the school until they reached the gym where the basketball team was practicing. Shigeo claimed that the spirit was angry and trapped him in the gym using his psychic powers. Upon entering the gym, they encountered the huge bespectacled ghost called Scent-Ghoul. The Scent-Ghoul attacked Shigeo, but he easily nullified the punch with his psychic powers, while simultaneously destroying the Scent-Ghoul's arm. When the Scent-Ghoul realized that he underestimated Shigeo and was too weak to match him, he tried to take a basketball member hostage to save himself. However, Shigeo protected her and exorcised the spirit. This earned him praise from the girls.

The next day, the Telepathy Club asked Shigeo if he had finally decided to join the club. They were interrupted by Student Council Vice President Hikaru Tokugawa and the newly formed Body Improvement Club, which will take over the Telepathy Club room once they are abolished. Tokugawa asked Shigeo about his decision to join the Telepathy Club and what he really wanted to do when he was young. At this, Shigeo realized that he dreamed of confessing his feelings to his crush Tsubomi. He recalled the times he spent with Tsubomi, showing her various things he could do with his psychic powers. He made frogs and dogs float in the air and wiggled toy bars. Eventually, Tsubomi grew tired of Shigeo's psychic abilities, and Shigeo realized that he could do something other than using his psychic powers. Shigeo joined the Body Improvement Club, much to everyone's surprise. The Body Improvement Club gladly accepted him.

Shigeo trained with the members of the Body Improvement Club, but their intensive training made Shigeo faint. Musashi, the president of the Body Improvement Club, took Shigeo back to their club room, where the Telepathy Club continued to hang out. He left Shigeo in the care of the Telepathy Club members.

(LOL)Cult bow

A masked woman approached Shigeo as he was walking home. She tried to convince Shigeo to join LOL, a month-old religious cult, with the promise of making him popular. Its leader Dimple can make anyone smile and laugh. When Shigeo arrived at the LOL assembly, he found a crowd of masked people and wondered if they wanted to become popular like him. He was warmly welcomed by the LOL members, and was introduced to two new recruits, one of whom was his classmate Ichi.

Dimple made his appearance. LOL members laughed with Dimple while Shigeo and the other two new recruits looked at them and stared at them, finding them scary. Dimple promised the three new recruits smiles and happiness by placing smile masks on them. Mezato and the other recruit started smiling and laughing when they didn't want to before while wearing the masks.

Shigeo wonders if the only purpose of the cult is smiling and happiness, rather than popularity. The lady who found him says that he has problems with his love life. Shigeo says that the cult won't help him solve his problems and takes off the mask, revealing that he is the only one who is not affected by it. to the surprise of Dimple and the cult members, he tries to leave the assembly LOL. But Dimple tries to convince him to stay, saying that he is missing out on life if he keeps the same boring face. Shigeo explained that people had different perceptions of "missing out" when his father told him that people miss out on life when they refuse to smoke tobacco. Dimple challenged him to a staring contest against the three smiling LOL leaders. The mechanics of the game was to drink milk; the first one to laugh would lose.

Shigeo accepted the challenge because he likes milk. Shigeo easily defeated the three smiling LOL leaders, so Dimple decided to face him in the same game. But Dimple cheats by mixing a seemingly sour element with Shigeo's milk. Shigeo spits out the milk, to which Dimple says Shigeo was laughing and lost the match. Shigeo insisted that he was wrong and not laughing, unconsciously cancelling the hypnosis Dimple had placed on the LOL members. Dimple reapplied his hypnosis on the people while fearing that Shigeo would cancel his powers. Dimple then told Shigeo to get a clue and laugh with them.

Dimple tries to hypnotize Shigeo into laughing. But Shigeo maintains his bored look. Shigeo realizes that Dimple also has psychic powers as Dimple screams, wondering if Shigeo is a corpse. He explained to Dimple that he can't make him laugh because Shigeo can't laugh even if he wanted to. Dimple concluded that Shigeo has no emotions and told Shigeo so. Dimple said that this was the reason for Shigeo's love problems and that he would be alone forever.

Dimple told him to laugh and laugh with his cult. However, Shigeo's anger grew and he challenged Dimple to make him laugh using his psychic powers. Dimple became nervous and realized that he and Shigeo had the same powers. He decided to exterminate Shigeo, who will prevent him from being a god. Shigeo then discovered that Dimple was an evil spirit. But, Dimple used his LOL followers to stack Shigeo and immobilize him.

As a child, Shigeo realized that his powers were dangerous and tied to his emotions, so he hid them to suppress his psychic abilities. This led to a complex as a result of his emotional suppression. But when his emotions became too great, they exploded out of him with his psychic power, in which Shigeo's rage allowed him to use 100% of his psychic power.

Dimple left the human he possessed and became a dark cloud. Shigeo escaped the dog pile by lifting the LOL members using his psychic powers. Shigeo dared Dimple to kill him, saying that killing him might be easier than making him laugh. Dimple transformed into a muscular green humanoid, saying he only needed two seconds to kill Shigeo before attacking him. Shigeo defended himself by forming a barrier around him, and Dimple attacked him again, but the second failed attempt caused Dimple to lose a hand and a foot. Dimple regenerated his lost limbs and used all his powers to attack Shigeo again. Shigeo retaliated by cutting off all of Dimple's limbs with his psychic power. As Dimple moaned in pain, Shigeo walked over his face and said that his emotions were turned off at Dimple's request. Shigeo said that this was what happened when he let his emotions show and asked if Dimple was satisfied. Dimple asked if Shigeo was some kind of monster before regenerating one of his arms and using it to push himself up and using Wraither Beam on Shigeo, then regenerating all of his limbs and turning his arm into a huge knife. Dimple states that the battles he endured would decide the winner and loser before attacking Shigeo, who put up a barrier that broke the blade on Dimple's arm. Shigeo muttered that he was terrible himself and exorcised Dimple with a slap on the forehead. Shigeo returned to the then regenerating all his limbs and turning his arm into a huge knife. Dimple declared that the battles he endured would decide the winner and loser before attacking Shigeo, who put up a barrier that broke the blade of Dimple's arm. Shigeo muttered that he was terrible himself and exorcised Dimple with a slap on the forehead. Shigeo returned to theSpirits and Such Consultation Office where he told Reigen about the "Get a clue" incident, and Reigen just told him that social norms were beyond him. Seeing Shigeo still sad, Reigen told Shigeo that he was the protagonist of his own life. Shigeo felt guilty about the dissolution of the organization LOL, and Reigen commented on Shigeo's destructive density. So Shigeo continued to sulk.

Bow Teruki Hanazawa

Shigeo woke up one morning to find a small spirit in his room, which reentered as Dimple . Shigeo wanted to exorcise Dimple and asked Reigen for advice, but Reigen could not see Dimple. Dimple laughed that Reigen would not see him as if he was a fake. Reigen said that Dimple was probably too weak to see, which made Dimple angry and told Shigeo to do what he wanted. So Shigeo let Dimple hang out.

Shigeo found a poster of himself. The Psycho Helmet Religion, formerly the LOL religious group, is looking for him and dubs him their god.

Shigeo found a letter in his shoe locker, and he thought it was a love letter even when Dimple deduced that it wasn't. Although Dimple arrested him, he still went to Ankle Park to meet the girl who wrote the letter, but there he found students from Black Vinegar Middle School where they tied him up and took him hostage because of Tenga Onigawara . Dimple suggested Shigeo to escape by using his psychic powers, but Shigeo refused, saying that he will not use his powers on people.

The Body Improvement Club went to pick up Shigeo from Black Vinegar Middle School. They defeated many students from Black Vinegar Middle School. However, they lost to Teruki (the ghostly leader of Black Vinegar Middle School), who used his psychic powers to fight. Shigeo alone was not affected by Teru's attacks and told Teru not to use psychic powers on other people. Then, Shigeo used telekinesis to escape his bonds, shocking Teruki.

Teru attacks Shigeo to no avail, but Shigeo only wants to be friends with him and stays on defense even though Teru keeps attacking him. Shigeo refused to fight back using his psychic powers, remembering Reigen's advice. Dimple decided to fight Teru instead, but Teru exorcised the spirit. Shigeo initially didn't care if Dimple was exorcised, but changed his mind when Teru despised the spirit.

Teru continued to attack Shigeo, and they reached the home economics room, where Teru used telekinesis on the knives. Shigeo defended himself by using psychic powers on the knives and cut the hair on top of Teru's head, which angered Teru, and he attacked Shigeo again relentlessly. Shigeo realized that Teru wanted to defeat him because Shigeo being an esper like Teru, made Teru look average. Teru choked him with his hands, but Shigeo refused to fight back using his psychic powers.

Shigeo remembered a time when he and Ritsu Kageyama were younger. Three older guys took their New Year's money before hurting him and Ritsu. But Shigeo had passed out, waking up to find Ritsu and the bullies injured.

Teruki ends up choking Shigeo into unconsciousness, which turns out to be a fatal mistake on Teruki's part as an unknown and powerful force awakens inside Shigeo and controls his body. He defeated Teru easily and destroyed the Black Vinegar school building. When he regained consciousness, Shigeo cried at his inability to change. His psychic powers went crazy and caused an accident because of his emotions. His sadness reached 100% and he used it to repair the Black Vinegar school campus. He was about to apologize to Teru, but was interrupted. The Body Improvement club checked on his well-being and he returned with them.

Large cleaning arc

When Yamazaki tried to justify the outburst, he quickly found himself getting beaten up by Onigawara, angry at being called an idiot again.

Later, Shigeo went to his "appointment" with Tome . He found an adult esper, but did not approach the person because he felt sick.

A lady on the street tried to sell him Vase of Happiness. He refused, not having the money to buy the expensive vase. The lady then made it look like Shigeo had cracked the vase and forced him to pay for the damage. Reigen called Shigeo on his phone and went to pick up his apprentice. Keiji Mogami bow

After working 3 jobs involving a man trying to put a curse on someone, an Esper using his power to be a Peeping Tom, and college kids wanting him to exorcise innocent spirits, Shigeo begins to wonder if anyone could stop him if he abused his powers like the people in those cases did.

Shigeo, along with Reigen and Dimple, comes at the request of Masashi Asagiri. The businessman explains that an evil spirit has taken possession of his daughter, and after a game of rock, paper and scissors, Reigen is the first to enter and talk to her. After an initial conversation, the other psychics believe that no evil spirit is possessing Minori. However, Reigen contradicts them, explaining his suspicious behavior and how he called him a psychic even though he never introduced himself. With his act exposed, Minori begins to attack the other psychics. After Minori's father is seriously injured, Shigeo decides to intervene and prevents Mogami from attacking Banshomaru by restraining him with his telekinesis. Shigeo releases her when Keiji starts to twist Minori's body beyond its natural limits. Enraged by his disregard for Minori's safety and cruel nature, Shigeo attempts to exorcise Mogami and expel her from Minori. Unfortunately, his burst of energy causes Mogami to take deeper roots in Minori's body. He laments to his master that he has only made things worse, proclaiming that Mogami is stronger than him.

Shigeo tries to drive him out from inside by leaving his body. After asking Dimple to take control of his body while he is away, Mob projects his soul outside his body and enters Minori's body. Upon entering the mental realm, he is met by Mogami, and after asking Mogami to leave Minori's body, the evil spirit launches an energy attack, which is blocked by Mob's barrier. Mogami then begins to choke Mob with telekinesis, with the esper retaliating by firing a barrage of psychic blasts that tear Mogami's limbs apart. As Mob prepares to finish Mogami off, the evil spirit asks where each incarnation of psychic powers comes from, revealing that they come from feelings. Suddenly, Mogami appears behind Shigeo, completely unharmed while punching him in the face, putting his foot on the esper's cheek while continuing his explanation of psychic energy coming from emotions, especially negative emotions. Mogami states that Mob can become much stronger than he already is, but just needs to change his way of seeing the world. The evil spirit offers to help him, placing him in a mental landscape where Mob has no powers, no friends, no family, and no one from his usual life.

Dimple explains that it looked like someone had forced their way in, worrying Shigeo even more, and he looks for clues, fearing that his parents and Ritsu have been kidnapped. He opens another door and stares in horror at what he believes to be the burning corpses of his family. As Dimple begs Shigeo to close his eyes, Shigeo is driven mad by the sight, his emotional gauge far exceeding 100% and reaching ???% as he remembers his family. Shigeo grits his teeth and his bones begin to crack with rage and psychic strength, but Dimple says he's certain those bodies are dummies. Shigeo's gauge drops to 100% and he becomes obsessed with finding the culprit. He uses spiritual awareness and finds espers near his home.

Shigeo jumps out of nowhere in front of two Claw soldiers before beating them into unconsciousness in front of a crowd of people. Then suddenly Megumu and Yusuke appear, inviting Shigeo to their car. After hearing about a gathering with Reigen, Shigeo steals the car and goes there as soon as possible.

Epilogue

After a few months, Shigeo becomes vice-president of the Body Improvement Club, where he first welcomes the new students. Then he walks with Ritsu and Teruki to Reigen's birthday party. Shigeo reveals himself to be totally emotional and emotionally free, indicating that he has finally overcome the need to suppress his emotions.

Powers and abilities

At first glance, Shigeo is an average middle schooler. At first, Shigeo was physically very unfit and incapable, having no body coordination, a lack of stamina and surprisingly weak muscle strength. However, after joining the Body Improvement Club, his physical abilities have increased considerably, although they are still relatively below average for someone his age. He is also not very good at his schoolwork and gets upset whenever the teachers call him to answer questions in class.

However, Shigeo's real strength lies in his phenomenal psychic powers, which outshine those of almost every other espers in the series. He is arguably the most powerful esper in the series, rivaled only by Keiji Mogami and Toichiro Suzuki. He has an enormous capacity to store psychic energy, which he uses mainly to fuel his already existing powers. Because of his belief that psychic powers should not be used against others, he has trained little in combat and does not specialize in any specific type of ESP. Despite this, he still has various techniques at his disposal. He is actually able to learn new techniques quite easily, as seen when he learned to use chlorokinesis during his fight against the farm spirit, when he was able to project his spirit out of his body after only seeing it once, and when he learned to track the energy of other espers when he entered his 100% obsessed state, which Dimple noted. However, he still relies the most on simple things like telekinesis and creating barriers in battle. Toichiro, who has traveled the world, Shigeo's psychic aura is usually blue, but can sometimes show shades of pink and purple. It also has a polygonal pattern.

Shigeo's progress towards the explosion

Note: Shigeo's meter measures the amount of psychic powers released rather than his emotion or heart rate; the meter% also has a connection to quickly release psychic energy at an alarming or regular rate.

Due to a childhood incident involving his psychic powers, Shigeo has unconsciously sealed his emotions to better control his psychic abilities. However, there is a limit to how much of his emotions he can contain. Once he reaches his limit, all the power he has been keeping suppressed will explode, giving him a significant boost in his psychic abilities.

Shigeo's progress towards explosion is visually represented with a percentage entitled "Shigeo's Progress Towards Explosion" which eventually reaches 100%. The more emotional stimuli Shigeo experiences, the faster his limit will be reached. Once Shigeo's psychic explosion is over, his emotional limit counter will be reset to 0%.

When Shigeo explodes, the way he uses his enhanced power depends on the emotion he feels when he reaches his limit. The emotions displayed at 100% so far include:

  • 100% Anger/Rage - After being taunted by Dimple and the cult (LOL), and later after Toichiro tried to kill Reigen and disrespected Serizawa. This led Shigeo to get serious about fighting.
  • 100% Sadness - After going into ??% mode in his battle with Teru, resulting in the destruction of the Black Vinegar Middle School. Resulted in Shigeo crying and rebuilding the school.
  • 100% Hostility / Animosity - After observing Koyama's violent and insensitive treatment of Ritsu and the other middle schoolers. Resulted in Shigeo starting a brutal beating of his attacker.
  • 100% Rejection - While being forcefully shown an illusion of Ritsu in a pool of blood by Muto. Shigeo fried Muto's brain with psychic energy in retaliation.
  • 100% Murderous Intent - While not a true 100% state, this goal was almost achieved, reaching 99%. In this state, Shigeo became completely ruthless and cold-blooded, ready to kill his opponents as long as the people he loved were safe, and he was shown a wicked smile.
  • Fortunately, Reigen stopped him at the last second, and his master's words changed his energy and emotions to 100% Gratitude.
  • 100% Gratitude - When Reigen tried to protect Shigeo by telling him that it was okay to run away from the battle with the 7th division. Resulted in Shigeo temporarily transferring his powers to Reigen, who is at "1000%."
100% Courage - Fighting Mogami to save Minori Asagiri, and later fighting Toichiro and resolving to fight to protect his friends and family. Allowed Shigeo to gain a more bishounen appearance. This is Shigeo's most powerful 100% state, as he was able to momentarily fight on par with Suzuki at 100% when hewas struggling greatly before with only 50% of Suzuki's power.
  • 100% Tenacity / Obsession - After identifying the Claw espers who allegedly burned down his house and kidnapped his family. This led Shigeo to go on a rampage to find said espers and discover where they took his family and how they made the dummies at his house.
  • 100% Friendship - After learning Serizawa's sad story and wanting to be his friend. This led to Shigeo absorbing Serizawa's energy blast and sending it back to him to allow Serizawa to understand Shigeo's sad story.
  • 100% Ecstasy - While being influenced by Toichiro's own ecstatic emotions during their fight. Resulted in Shigeo laughing hysterically and flying erratically, enjoying the thrill of the battle. He momentarily got carried away in this state but stopped when he saw Ritsu's fear of looking at him.
  • 100% Shame - After realizing that he got carried away by his psychic powers in his battle with Suzuki. Resulted in Shigeo crawling and hiding in the clouds.
  • 100% Compassion - After realizing how sad Toichiro's life must really be and feeling sorry for him during their fight. Shigeo cries and tries to quickly crush Toichiro with buildings.
  • 100% Resignation - After deciding that Toichiro could not be convinced to stop, he had no choice but to stop him by force. As a result, Shigeo brutally contorts Toichiro's body in an attempt to leave him physically unable to continue.
  • 100% Kindness - After deciding to stay with Toichiro in his supposed final moments and attempting to save him from his horrible fate. Shigeo created a barrier around himself and Suzuki and tried to absorb his energy overload.
  • 100% get carried away - After noticing how many girls were talking to him and how much attention he was getting compared to usual. This did not result in any psychic events, but it did lead to Shigeo becoming numb and ignoring Dimple's feelings when he told her about the divine tree.
  • 100% Trust - After deciding not to use his powers against Dimple in the Divine Tree and trusting him instead. This led Shigeo to temporarily throw away his psychic powers.

???%

"???%" is a special state that Shigeo occasionally enters when he becomes unconscious under extreme stress, or when his physical vessel is destroyed. When ???% is active, Shigeo can release all of his latent psychic power at once, allowing him to reach a level of psychic strength far beyond his 100% blasts.

The major drawback of this power is that Shigeo loses complete control of himself while active, and his base instincts take over. This runs the risk of Shigeo doing something he would regret.
