She is described as a living grimoire and serves as the head of the Continental Magic Association. Serie presents herself as a Great Mage from the Mythical Era.

Personality

Like most elves, Serie shows little emotion and can come across as rather cold. However, she is fair in her judgment of others and possesses a sharp intuition regarding their potential. She's pragmatic when analyzing situations, quickly recognizing threats, but is also willing to yield to the wishes of her disciples.

Thanks to her status and knowledge, she has recruited many apprentices over the years. Serie initially appears ambivalent toward her human disciples, citing their short lifespans as a reason not to take them on. She claims to have taken Flamme as a student on a whim. Yet, despite this, even after centuries or millennia, she has never forgotten the favorite spells or personalities of any of her apprentices. Although she calls Flamme’s favorite spell useless, she conducts the third stage of the First-Class Mage Exam in a field of flowers generated by that very spell.

Like many elves, Serie struggles to understand and express her emotions. She has admitted to feeling disappointed that most of her apprentices never reached her level or left a mark on history, but she has never regretted taking them under her wing.

Serie respects individuals with burning ambition. She views magic as a simple tool for killing and strongly disagrees with Frieren's belief that the true joy of magic lies in its pursuit. For this reason, Flamme considers her a warmonger. Nevertheless, Serie enjoys meeting and fighting strong opponents, and she is fascinated by those who master diverse applications of magic and possess a wide variety of spells.

Appearance

Serie is an elf with golden hair and eyes. Despite being older than Frieren, she has long pointed ears and a youthful appearance. Her hair flows freely except for four locks tied at the base, and her bangs are also tied at the ends. She wears a loose white top with a green brooch and white shorts. When outdoors, she dons a long red cape adorned with golden clasps and green gemstones, lined with white fur. She is often seen barefoot and wears two ankle bands or wrappings.

In the past, Serie was depicted wearing a light toga-like robe similar to Flamme’s. She wore no ornaments in her hair or on her arms but had two ankle bracelets and a multi-pendant necklace.

When confronting Macht, Serie wears shoes and socks with ribbons and a loose jacket. The rest of her attire remains the same as her Continental Magic Association outfit.

Abilities

Due to her unparalleled knowledge and skill, Serie is considered the mage closest to the omnipotent and omniscient Goddess.

Living Grimoire: Serie knows nearly all spells known to humanity, including ancient ones forgotten since the Mythical Era. She claims to own almost every grimoire ever written, earning her the title of “Living Grimoire.”

Immense Mana Production: Serie’s suppressed mana output rivals Frieren’s full power. Serie constantly limits her own mana, and while her true output is unknown, it is likely several times greater, giving her the largest mana reserves of any mage known.

Mana Concealment: Serie has mastered the art of restricting and hiding her mana output. Even skilled mages like Lernen, who can detect Frieren’s mana fluctuations, cannot sense her presence. So far, only Fern has been able to detect any instability in Serie’s mana. Serie can also suppress her mana completely, making her invisible to even the most sensitive detection spells. She infiltrated the Golden City of Weise without Macht, the Golden Earth Demon, sensing her presence—a feat even Frieren couldn’t have achieved.

Superhuman Instinct: Frieren has stated that Serie’s instinct has always been accurate. During the third exam, she can determine who is worthy of passing based solely on intuition. To some extent, she can even guess what participants are thinking or feeling when they face her.

Spells

Barrier Magic: Serie can generate powerful magical barriers. Over a week before the first stage of the First-Class Mage Exam, she created a massive barrier around the forest test site, blocking even water and dust particles. Genau, the exam proctor, and most mages declared it impossible to dismantle. However, after nearly a full day of analysis, Frieren managed to break through.

Spell Transfer Magic – Fürwehrer: A spell that allows Serie to transfer spells she has learned to other mages. It creates a grimoire containing her spell knowledge, which, once read, enables the reader to instantly learn the spell, even if they normally couldn’t. The spell transfers Serie’s knowledge, allowing her to forget spells once passed on, although she can relearn them later.

Curse Reversal Spell – Mistilziela: A primitive spell that reflects any perceived “curse” back to its source. It takes a hundred years to master and requires a colossal amount of mana to cast.

Spatial Magic: During her battle with Macht, Serie used spatial magic to distort the impact point of his massive sword, preventing it from touching her.

Defensive Magic: Like most modern mages, Serie can cast defensive magic in the form of hexagonal protective barriers to shield locations or surround herself. She used this magic in her fight against Macht to block his offensive spell, Zoltraak.

• Serie's name is borrowed from the German word derived from the Latin serere, meaning “to join in series” or “to chain together.”
• She ranked:
  • 15th in the first official popularity poll.
  • 14th in the second popularity poll, which allowed multiple votes per character.
