Apparence

Kise is a model, so naturally he has a "beautiful" face. He has blond, medium-length hair and golden eyes with long lashes. He is tall and athletic. He also has a piercing in his left ear. Besides his sports outfit, he is often seen in his school uniform, which consists of a white shirt, black tie, gray vest and gray pants. During games, he wears the Kaijo team jersey with the number 7.

Personality

Kise is a carefree and very open person. He tries to be friends with everyone, including those who don't seem to be interested (for example Midorima). Kise adds a suffix -cchi exclusively to people he respects (especially to members of the Miracle generation), such as Kurokocchi (Kuroko), Aominecchi (Aomine) or Midorimacchi (Midorima), and has the habit to finish his sentence with the suffix -su.

As he is carefree, he can be very determined and serious while playing. Because of Teikō's teaching, Kise is a player who prefers to play alone than to play in a team. While playing against Aomine, he says that he doesn't care if Kaijo wins, he just wants to defeat Aomine by himself.

However, he started to change when Kuroko's team beat him, he tasted defeat for the first time. He began to see the faith his teammates have in him during his match against Tōō. Aided by them, he managed to copy Aomine. Kise surprised everyone in a counterattack . In the semifinals of the Winter Cup, Kuroko predicts that if Kise is cornered, he will pass the ball, which the old Kise would not do.

The reason why Kise respects Kuroko so much is because he was Kise's personal instructor in college when he started playing basketball, and because he is very strong in his own unique ability. He always tries to point out that they were the best friends in the world, (and he was amusingly upset when Kuroko said the opposite). He even claimed that he cried every night after Kuroko rejected his offer to play for Kaijo.

He turns out to be surprisingly perceptive in watching and copying people. It was revealed in the novel -Replace- that he could immediately tell that Momoi loved Kuroko, even though she, at the time, was sure of her own feelings .

History

Past

In his second year in college, Kise used his copying ability to get an A, competing with Tanaka. Even though he was popular, handsome and talented, he was very annoyed because no matter what sport he played, he had no competition. He was walking around the school when a basketball hit his head. The ball belonged to Aomine, who apologized. Kise followed him and saw him playing. He was puzzled and thought that he had finally found some competition. He joined the basketball club and in a short time he became a starter.

Finally in the first team of Teiko, Kise had given Kuroko as a personal instructor. Kise thought it was strange for an incredible player like him to be small and weak. He was even more confused when he heard that Kuroko belonged to the first team. He asked Aomine about this and he told him that Kuroko's power is a different case and he would understand in a match. Kise and Kuroko then participated in a match of the second team of Teiko.

As they were walking to the gym, Kise asked Kuroko to bet his uniform, whoever got more points wins. In the game, Teiko was losing and Kise was put into the game. Kise was immediately marked by two men and he could not move as he wanted. Kuroko asks Kise to help him, as he represents the light Kuroko is stronger. Kuroko uses his Misdirection to get the ball and makes his invisible pass to Kise, who scores. Kise is amazed by Kuroko's ability and they win. After the game, he approaches Kuroko and asks him if he likes to sacrifice himself for other people to score. Kuroko answers that he doesn't, but winning is the best for him.

After seeing Kuroko's strength, Kise recognized him and changed his attitude towards him drastically. After school, Kise spent most of his time with Kuroko, Aomine, Midorima, Murasakibara and Momoi to buy and eat ice cream. When the Nationals started, Kise along with the rest of the Miracle Generation were winning all their matches. In the final, against Kamata West, Kise was annoyed by the unfair play of the twins that Teiko had trouble with. However, Teiko still won the game combining Kuroko and Aomine.

In his third year, Kise along with the rest of the Generation of Miracles began to discover their talents that would become too powerful for any other players to compete against them. Meanwhile, Kise had lost his passion for basketball which was not the same as what it was before. When Teiko had won their nationals, Kise along with everyone questioned Kuroko what was more important than winning. They also told him that they were making bets during their games, because the opponents they had were too weak, they did not know how to have fun. After Kuroko disappeared, the Miracle Generation had a meeting after graduation, they made an oath. An oath to fight against each other to see who is the strongest among them, with Kuroko joining in the oath too.

Seirin vs Kaijo

Kise is first seen going to greet Kuroko at Seirin High School. Seirin training is in progress and Kise is standing in the shadows, watching Kagami. Riko informs the team that they are going to play against Kaijo, Kise's team, in a training match, without knowing that Kise is listening to her. Riko suddenly notices a crowd of high school girls, they gather around Kise. Riko and the others recognize him immediately. They ask him why he is here, he answers that he was curious when he heard that his opponent was going to be Seirin, because he knew that this high school was where Kuroko is playing now, so he decided to come and see him. One of the first years reads his article from a magazine he finds and reads out loud that Kise had only started basketball in his second year of high school. Kise tells them that the article is exaggerated and that he is just the weakest of the Miracle generation. Suddenly, Kagami throws a basketball in his direction. Kise manages to catch it and Kagami challenges him to a one on one. Kise happily accepts and takes off his jacket and tie.

To everyone's surprise, he passes Kagami with the same move that Kagami did earlier. He keeps his head and jumps to block him, but Kise is stronger than him, he ends up dunking. Kagami realizes that the move Kise copied was better, faster and stronger than his. Kuroko hardly recognizes Kise, he is surprised that Kise has improved so much. Kise walks towards Kuroko and tells him to come to his school. Kise explains that he respects Kuroko and that Kuroko is wasting his talent by staying there, so the reason why he offers him to play together again. Kuroko refuses his offer very formally, he tells him that he can't leave because he made a promise with Kagami to defeat the Generation of Miracles. Kise, has the impression that Kuroko is still serious about the victory.

He meets Seirin again on the day of the match. He tells Kuroko that he is really disappointed that he rejected his offer. Kuroko tells him not to say things like that. Kise turns to Kagami and says that he is interested in him. He tells him that if he wants a fight, he will get one. He goes with the team to the gym and puts his jersey on, but his coach tells him that he won't play. Kise asks why and his coach says that if he plays, it won't even be a match. They realize very quickly how much Kaijo stares at them. Kise convinces his coach to play him, Kuroko and Kagami are happy. He tells them that if they can't even play him, then they don't own the right to say that they are going to beat the Miracle Generation. Kuroko warns him that he can't afford to hold back.

The match begins, Kuroko and Kagami surprise everyone by quickly destroying the ring during a dunk. The coach of Kaijo, annoyed, finally decides to take them seriously, he prepares the whole court for their match. Kise is called by his coach. The game starts again, Kise can finally play. Riko uses her analysis ability on him and she is amazed by his statistics, comparing him to a monster. As Kise enters the field, a bunch of fans of him start to shout. Kise goes towards them, but he is quickly reprimanded by his captain, Yukio Kasamatsu. Kasamatsu tells him to return the favor to Seirin. Kise quickly takes the course of the match. Hyūga had to score it, he tries to block Kise's dunk, but kise to copy the dunk Kagami , so he dominated Hyūga. Kasamatsu blames him, saying that he would have broken the ring like Kagami, but Kagami realizes that Kise's dunk was much more powerful than his own. Kise tells Kagami that he never forgot to return a favor. Kagami and Kuroko decide to change the rhythm of the match .

Meanwhile, Kagami confronts Kise and does a fade-away. Kise manages to block the ball partially. Now that Kise is an attacker, he does the same as Kagami, but with more speed. Kagami can't block it, Kise ends up scoring. The pace is still too high for a start, so Seirin calls a time-out. On the side ,Kaijo, their coach yells because he let the point difference too low. Kasamatsu asks for an explanation about Kuroko's Misdirection, Kise explains that Kuroko has a weak point. He reveals that Kuroko can't use his ability for the whole match. He explains Kuroko's Misdirection to Kasamatsu and tells him that the more he uses it, the less effective it becomes.

The waiting period is over, the match restarts, Kagami scores Kise and the rest of the Seirin team cover a defensive zone. After the basket of Kasamatsu, the Misdirection of Kuroko weakens and Kagami is beaten by Kise. After that, he tells Kagami to give up everything because the difference of strength is clear. Kagami even starts to laugh and to be happy that Kise has set up a challenge. He also says that he finally found the weak point of Kise, which is Kuroko.

Kise recognizes that Kuroko's style is the only one he can't copy, but he doesn't see what difference it makes. After a break, the second quarter begins. Seirin has the ball, Kagami is against Kise. He is as usual, but he suddenly drops the ball behind him. Kuroko appears and he bounces the ball and sends it to Kagami, passing Kise. Kise is surprised by the cooperation game of Kagami and Kuroko. After another attack, he tells Kuroko that even this kind of game still can't beat him. Kise gets the ball back and he is suddenly scored by Kuroko.

Ryota Kise dans la zone avec la copie parfaite | Kuroko no basket, Kuroko, Kise ryouta

Kise and Kuroko talk to each other, saying that they never imagined facing him like this, Kise quickly dribbles and passes Kuroko. He is instantly scored by Kagami, to Kise's surprise, Kuroko steals the ball from Kise from behind. In the next attack, Kise tries to score by shooting to the basket, but he is blocked by Kagami. Seirin tries to score as much as they can, when Kise started to run to catch the ball, he hits Kuroko by accident. Kuroko is injured on his forehead and Kise feels bad for hurting Kuroko.

Seirin let Kuroko back into the game, at the same time, Kise decided to give everything. He passes Kuroko again, Kuroko tries to take the ball in his back but Kise sees it coming and avoids it. He finishes with a dunk. The game goes back to a struggle for points, Kise scoring most of the points for Kaijo. With three seconds left, the score is tied, Kagami and Kuroko make a move together. Kise waits for them at the basket, Kagami passes the ball to Kuroko. Kise thinks that Kuroko can't shoot, Kuroko passes the ball to Kagami in the air, it's an ally-hoop. Kise anticipates this and jumps before Kagami , but he doesn't stay in the air for long. Kise is surprised by Kagami's jumping power, Kagami ends up dunking, he brings the score to 100-98, taking the victory. Kise is devastated, but he recovers quickly, promising to train harder than before.

Preliminaries of the Interhigh

After losing the training game against Seirin, Kise attended Seirin's notable games, often appearing with Yukio Kasamatsu, the captain of Kaijo's basketball team, but there were times when Midorima or Momoi watched with him replacing Yukio.

His team also won the preliminaries in Kanagawa of the Interhigh and they managed to advance to participate in the Interhigh.

Interhigh

At the end of their first summer training camp, the basketball teams of Seirin and Shutoku, they went to watch the 2nd game of the Interhigh quarterfinals: Kaijō vs Tōō . In the locker room , Kasamatsu tells Kise that he wants to win against Tōō in order to be recognized as a real captain instead of being overshadowed by his past mistake against Tōō last year , while Kise admits that he only wanted to win because Aomine , the player who made him want to join the basketball club , is on the team. Seeing Kasamatsu's emotion in what he says to him, he seems to bring the desire to win and tells Kasamtasu that he wants to "win, even if it kills me. "

At the beginning of the game, it seems that Kise's skills are not strong enough to play evenly against Aomine, but finally, he pushes himself to overcome what prevents him from advancing, his admiration for the ace of the Miracle Generation, he learns to copy Aomine's moves, shocking everyone, including the members of the Miracle Generation. The real fight begins between him and Aomine. Both of them keep on scoring, Kise copies some of Aomine's moves, so the rest of Kaijo's team always tries their best despite Kise's efforts. On one occasion, Kise injured his leg, but he still managed to put the ball in the basket.

With two teams exhausted, Imayoshi tries to pass the ball to Sakurai, but he fails to catch it, allowing Kise to steal it. Aomine, is already on the other side, he blocks Kise but he plans to pass the ball to Kasamatsu. Now, with the loss of Kaijo, Aomine calls him "weak" and tells him that he did not copy him successfully because he is not a boy who will pass the ball to a teammate. Still with his fighting spirit, Kise says that he could not be here alone and that "he is not mature enough to play basketball logically or while suppressing his instincts" while trying to block the dunk of Aomine. Aomine then says that he doesn't have to say it , ending the game , the Tōō Academy wins the game .

Before the Winter Cup

In preparation for the Winter Cup, Kise is training with Kaijō High School. He is seen putting a dunk , raising the anger of Hayakawa because he is not able to take a rebound since he dunks.

Winter Cup

Kise appears at the Winter Cup when Akashi calls the members of the Generation of Miracles for a meeting. He is seen playing with his phone while asking why Midorima brought a pair of scissors. He answers that it is obviously his lucky item. Kise says that he has to put them away, and that it is dangerous. Kuroko arrives and greets them. When Kise receives another text message, Aomine asks if it's from Akashi, since he hasn't arrived yet. Kise says that it is an encouraging sms from his fans, causing the anger of Aomine. Akashi finally arrives. After the arrival of Kagami, Akashi leaves, saying that he saw that everybody (including Kise) did not forget their oath. He says that the next time they will see each other, it will be during the battle.

Tour 1

The first match seen from the Winter Cup is Kaijo against an unknown team. We see that Kaijo dominates the match, with the help of Kise. Kise also returns the first dunk in this year's Winter Cup .

During the match of Tōō against Seirin , he is seen sitting in the audience , he was amazed by Kuroko's new technique , the Ignite Pass Kai .

Quarter finals

Kise and the rest of the Kaijo team is against Fukuda Sogo Academy , where a former Teiko player whom Kise replaced , Shōgo Haizaki , is. Kise seems uncomfortable when he doesn't see Haizaki in warm-up, although he is not surprised. He asks Kasamatsu to take a break and go outside , he accepts his request . Kise quickly finds Haizaki who faces Kagami, Himuro and Alex, he stops Haizaki by throwing a basketball to him. Kise introduces Haizaki to Kagami, he tells him that he was forced to leave Teiko's team by Akashi, but that he is now surprised that Haizaki came back to play basketball. Haizaki reveals that he is here for the title of one of the members of the Generation of Miracles, he declares that he is going to take this title from Kise. Kise asks Kagami, Himuro and Alex to keep silent about it, he says that he will defeat Haizaki and defend his title of the Generation of Miracles fiercely.

Later, both teams line up for the quarterfinals of the Winter Cup. The tip-off is given, the ball goes to Kasamatsu, who sees that Kise is marked by Haizaki. Kise gets his first contact with the ball by stealing it from Kazuhiro Mochizuki's hands. Haizaki later demonstrated the effects of his skill in stealing techniques. It didn't take long before Haizaki used his skills against Kise, he took the lead in the third quarter. Kise is desperate.

Kaijo is not in the lead in the beginning of the last quarter, Kise tries to dunk near Haizaki, with high speed and with only one hand to dunk, he copied that from Kagami, but he seems quite blocked by Haizaki. Kise has problems with his leg and on the other side, Haizaki says to Kise that he just stole this technique . Haizaki dunks again, causing Kise to fall down, extending his lead by 7 points. Haizaki laughs at Kise, but he hears a voice in the stands, coming from Kuroko, he encourages Kise. He has a new hope and he also finds his strength, Kise gets up, he puts back Haizaki in his place in a very frank way, he pulls up for a shot on the other side of the court. He copied Midorima's abilities. It is revealed that Kise has another level of his copy, the Perfect Copy. He can now use the movements of the Miracle generation for the next 5 minutes.

Semi-final

Kise attends the semi-final between Rakuzan and Shutoku, he sees Akashi who won the match.

It is then time to participate in his own match, against Seirin. The two teams warm up quietly, but they have a fighting spirit. Kasamatsu breaks the uneasiness and orders Kise to give them a welcome message. Kise accepts happily and dunks by copying Kagami. He makes a declaration of war. Kagami and Kuroko return the favor of Kise by making an alley-oop. The game starts .

Third place

Kise didn't participate in this game because of his leg injury, he came back during the last 4 minutes, but Kaijo lost by a large margin of points difference against Shutoku. Midorima tells him that their match must be postponed because he didn't play. Kise insists that they would have won if he had played in the second half and that's when he cried because of the defeat, Midorima answers that he could have hit him at that moment. They agree that they are not the central characters of the day and they go to the stands to watch the match of the final between Seirin and Rakuzan.

Final

Kise is with her team, watching Seirin's match against Rakuzan. After Aomine encourages Seirin, Kise also starts to cheer followed by Midorima.

EXTRA GAME

He watched the Team Jabberwock vs Team Strky match with his teammates on TV. They saw Kasamatsu who is one of the participants. However, they saw a total humiliation especially towards Kasamatsu, a boy from the opposing team spit in his hand instead of a handshake. Kise was totally speechless while Hayakawa was trembling with anger.

He received a text message from Kuroko to meet him, Kagami and the other members of the Miracle Generation as well, after being called by Kagetora Aida. He was surprised that the possibility of playing together again was too fast, then he turns to Murasakibara . He asks Aida if Kuroko and Kagami are also included. The latter answers that yes. When all were reunited, they explain the steps of their future revenge.

Skills

Being one of the geniuses of the Generation of Miracles, Kise has an excellent physique. His copying technique requires him to be at least as strong and fast as the one he mimics, which is why he could be considered one of the 5 geniuses of the GM, despite the fact that he started basketball after the others. He has a wide range of techniques and can adapt quickly to the situation in a game, being able to play all positions. His level evolves gradually throughout the series until he becomes one of the assets of the Vorpal Swords team.

Copy

The reason he plays basketball is because he has the ability to copy someone's moves just by seeing them play once. His copying ability doesn't just mimic the move stupidly, but uses it with more power and speed than the original. This means that when his opponent makes a move, Kise will use it with more power. His ability has limits of course, as Riko observed, he could not copy players stronger than himself, like the other members of the Miracle Generation. He had to see Aomine's moves several times and mentally prepare himself before he could copy them. This skill was not limited to basketball; he first used it in many sports, such as soccer, before basketball.

In the game against Tōō, we see him copy Sakurai's shot and a number of Aomine's dribbling moves, such as leaving the ball behind and catching it again while passing the opponent. In addition, in the match against Fukuda Sōgō Academy, Kise was able to copy Kazuhiro Mochizuki's scoop shot - a shot that is difficult to block. Not only did he copy his enemies' moves, but he also used a dribble shot used by Kasamatsu. He also "stores" all these moves in his memory, which allows him to use almost every basketball technique that exists. This makes him a very creative player and especially a player with a limitless talent in basketball.

His copying ability is also similar to that of Haizaki, whom Kise replaced in his second year at Teikō. Haizaki can copy moves, like Kise, but when he executes those moves, he does so with his own rhythm, stealing the move he copied from his opponent.

Perfect Copy

Now able to extend his copying technique to the members of the Miracle Generation, Kise can mimic their movements as well as their techniques. The only drawback is that he has to make up for what he lacks in order to mimic the movement with his own physique, such as having to pull harder to copy Midorima or jump higher to copy Murasakibara. As a result, he can only use the moves of his former teammates for 5 minutes, because of the amount of energy he uses.

Kuroko's Basketball«: Synchro-Clip zeigt Ryota Kise | Anime2You

He first used it against Aomine, whom he admired and overcame the obstacle by trying to overtake him, activating it for the first time. He used it again, this time against Haizaki, starting with Midorima's bell shot by taking more time than usual to make the shot, the same way Midorima makes his. He can replicate Aomine's agility by lowering his initial speed. By using his jumping power, Kise can copy Murasakibara's impenetrable defense. He can even copy Akashi's Emperor Eye (although it has been noted that it is still not 100% perfect like Akashi's, it is still good enough to predict the future with amazing accuracy).

Kise can also combine techniques that he has copied, like when he blocked Kuroko's Phantom Shot using Akashi's Emperor Eye and Murasakibara's block. He can also combine Akashi's Emperor Eye in combination with Aomine's agility for the ultimate Ankle Break. He copied Kuroko's Vortex Pass and even Midorima's Phantom Shot to the bell shot. When activated, Kise's eyes glow. This ability is also one of the reasons why he can cover all 5 positions for the Vorpal Swords team. Kise is also able to copy the level of play that Aomine is at in the Zone, via his Perfect Copy, in the match against Jabberwock.

Zone

In the game between Vorpal Swords team and Jabberwock team, Kise entered the zone during the 3rd quarter. He was able to enter the zone by remembering Kasamatsu's words before the game, who asked him to win, not for revenge but to show what their senpai had done for the sport.

Midorima proclaimed that Kise, with the combined use of the Zone and Perfect Copy, is by far the best player on the field, surpassing even Silver in physical strength and speed. However, he also revealed that the combo of these two techniques would not last, due to the over consumption of energy.

In this state, Kise was able to dunk on Silver, Allen and Zack at the same time and cut a 17-point deficit to a 10-point deficit, leaving their opponents to score only twice. He was soon exhausted, however, and was forced to be replaced, handing the rest to Akashi.

Relations

Tetsuya Kuroko

Kise considers Kuroko as his friend and rival. He has respect for him and his game. Both of them met in Teiko. Kuroko was Kise's tutor when he joined the first team.

After finishing high school, Kise asked Kuroko to join him at Kaijo but Kuroko refused. Although Kuroko sometimes finds Kise annoying, he considers him his friend.

In the quarter-final of the Winter Cup, Kise is helpless against Haizaki. But Kuroko's encouragement will help him to recover his full abilities.

Taiga Kagami

From their first meeting, Kise noticed right away that Kagami was a good player.

When Seirin beat Kaijo, it was the first time Kise experienced defeat. Since then, a rivalry has been established between the two players.

Kagami recognizes Kise's great talent for basketball.

Daiki Aomine

Kise always saw Aomine as a goal to achieve. Kise excelled in all the sports he practiced until he was the best without difficulty thanks to his incredible talent. Until the day he met Aomine. Despite his efforts he never managed to beat him. From this rivalry was born a certain admiration of Kise for Aomine.

Aomine recognizes Kise's incredible talent and considers him a formidable opponent who should not be underestimated.

Shintarō Midorima

Midorima and Kise don't get along very well. Indeed both have a rather opposite character, Midorima who is rather calm and distant and Kise who is energetic and talkative.

When Kise sent him "good luck" by message before a match, Midorima answered him "die".

Despite this, they are close enough to interact together and talk about basketball.

Atsushi Murasakibara

Kise calls him "Murasakibaracchi" which shows that he respects him.

Both of them were in the same class during their second year in high school.

Seijūrō Akashi

Akashi is not very close to Kise. They didn't talk together often in Teiko.

It was Akashi who kicked Haizaki out of Teiko's first team in favor of Kise when he saw that he was going to surpass Haizaki.

Like the other members of the miracle generation, Kise respects Akashi.

Satsuki Momoi

Momoi gets along well with Kise. Kise respects her by calling her "Momocchi". They watched the Seirin - Shutoku match together.

Shōgo Haizaki

Haizaki and Kise do not get along well and are enemies. Surprisingly, Haizaki's style and Kise's style are similar, both of them being able to copy other players' techniques. The only difference is that Haizaki changes the rhythm and tempo of the copied techniques a little bit to better suit him.

When Kise joined the Teiko Basketball Club, Haizaki was a first team player. Kise progressed quickly and joined the first team without being a starter right away. As Kise grew in confidence, he challenged Haizaki to a duel for the starting spot. Haizaki took the challenge and won it with flying colors leaving Kise completely demoralized. Later, because of his bad behavior, Akashi kicked him out of the team and told him that Kise will overtake him sooner or later. The two will meet again during the quarter finals of the Winter Cup where Haizaki will want to beat Kise to recover his title of member of the miracle generation. Kise will eventually win in a very close duel.

I'm not going to deny the anime at all, but in my mind, Kise is a person who is not weak. Other than that, he usually keeps his cool. I recognize that he has two sides. He's not a completely good guy, you know. That being said, please read the manga , think it's different from the anime. "
