15. Umbrella Boy is a formidable Yokai with tragic origins

Like most yokai, Umbrella Boy was once human: the kind-hearted and optimistic younger brother of Unji Zuma, who tragically perished. In death, Futa Zuma attached himself to his older brother and granted him the powers of Umbrella Boy. In his normal state, Unji's yokai transformation is powerful but not particularly impressive. It grants him typical boosts in strength and speed, along with the ability to summon two umbrellas that generate shockwaves.
However, Umbrella Boy's power, unlocked by the Fairy Tale Card, should not be underestimated. No longer limited to just two uses of the umbrella's shockwave, Umbrella Boy becomes a true fighting machine, capable of battling in mid-air. This transformation, however, puts immense strain on the user's body, putting Unji in mortal danger if not defeated in time.
14. The Fairy Tale Card has an intimidating power to control the body and mind

The main antagonist of the Danmanra arc of Dandadan, the Fairy Tale Card is a manipulative and cunning yokai that compensates for its physical weaknesses with a sly possession power. Facing the Fairy Tale Card makes a person vulnerable to its influence, with the yokai triggering painful memories of its victim to take control of their body.
Under the control of the Fairy Tale Card, a person can fully exploit their spiritual potential, even at the cost of intense physical strain. The cards that make up the spirit's body can also alter the senses, such as the mouth or eyes. Fortunately, defeating the Fairy Tale Card is not particularly difficult, as destroying the cards corresponding to specific powers nullifies their effects.
13. The Evil Eye has a well of spiritual energy born from hatred

The Evil Eye, a frightening spirit that once haunted Jiji's mountain house, is a yokai, a young child sacrificed to the Tsuchinoko, who harbors resentment toward humans. In its original form, the Evil Eye represents the greatest threat due to its curse, a power that drives its victims to suicide. However, after possessing Jiji and tapping into his limitless spiritual energy, the yokai becomes a formidable offensive force.
In Jiji's body, it can summon physical manifestations of grudges from other sacrifices, either transforming them into football-like projectiles to throw at enemies or into cursed house barriers to deflect attacks. Fast, agile, and powerful, the Evil Eye never stops fighting, making it an extremely dangerous opponent.

Even though she had trouble believing the stories her medium grandmother told her as a child, Momo Ayase maintained a deep respect for the world of yokai. However, when a terrifying extraterrestrial encounter expanded her worldview a hundredfold, she was forced to confront the discovery that Earth held far greater dangers than she had initially thought. Now equipped with magical arms capable of moving all sorts of objects, Momo regularly protects her world from the most cataclysmic threats of the universe.
Momo's psychic arms can move both material and conceptual forces. Effortlessly, she has demonstrated her ability to control powerful yokai, suppress curses, and hurl massive objects at her enemies. With the help of her guidance, she has also shown the ability to use her arms to heal allies by connecting the life forces of two individuals. The most interesting, however, is Momo's true power, which manifested during her first fight against the insidious Serpo aliens. By unleashing all her energy, Momo can enhance her strength and speed and is capable of disassembling matter with a mere thought. Although she has yet to discover the key to unlocking this power, Momo's potential is a massive force not to be underestimated.
11. Okarun is on the verge of mastering Turbo Granny's powers

At the start of the series, Ken Takakura was hardly considered one of the strongest in the story. Cursed by Turbo Granny, Okarun gained her powers but was unable to use them fully. However, intense training and significant combat experience have allowed Okarun to almost perfectly master the transformation of the fast yokai.
Even Okarun's greatest limitation—the two-use cap on his Almighty ability to reach Turbo Granny's maximum speed—was eventually overcome, with the boy's body adapting to the yokai's power. Although Okarun eventually loses his transformation ability after concluding his deal with Turbo Granny, his supernatural training leaves him far stronger than his frail past would ever have suggested.
10. Turbo Granny is Dandadan's original Yokai Speedster
A notorious spirit haunts the Shono city's tunnel
The original yokai of everything, Turbo Granny is a supernatural force of fearsome infamy, known for her superhuman speed and crude manners. Although she spends most of the series as a powerless mascot after Okarun takes her power, Turbo Granny, at her peak, is one of the most powerful spirits in the entire series. In addition to being able to reach and maintain speeds of 100 km/h, Turbo Granny can curse anyone who fails to escape her, possessing their body.
The curse can then easily spread to other targets if the possessed person looks at someone else, and Turbo Granny can kill her victims with a stroke or a heart attack. Merged with the Earth Spirit Crab, Turbo Granny gains even more power. However, even a yokai of such power is not safe from an experienced exorcist.
9. Aira Shiratori’s natural talent is worthy of a self-proclaimed chosen one
Aira is the avatar of Acrobatic Silky's spiritual power
Aira sets high goals for herself. Even before acquiring spiritual powers, she mastered the art of controlling her peers by adopting a cautious behavior. Her spiritual development allowed her to see herself in a new light: as a chosen one with the power to defeat evil.
After Momo strengthens Aira’s life force by combining it with the aura of the yokai Acrobatic Silky, Aira gains the ability to control every follicle of her hair. In her yokai-human hybrid form, Aira can bind and trap her enemies. She can also use her hair to increase her mobility and speed. Her new ability also makes her immune to electricity by drying her hair.
8. Rin Awaki manipulates space with her songs
Initially, Rin was Okarun’s shy class representative, convinced that Momo was harassing him. Like many of their friends, this seemingly trivial interaction allowed Rin to develop her own spiritual powers. After a chance encounter with Okarun’s golden sphere, Rin gains the ability to see yokai and realizes that she is being hunted by a powerful being intent on crushing her. Eventually, Rin discovers that this yokai is the spirit of a long-lost friend and joins forces with it to acquire new power.
By merging with her yokai companion, Rin gains the ability to manipulate gravity with her singing voice. Though she prefers to avoid the transformation that using her power entails, it has been demonstrated that this power affects materials of various sizes. While Rin's power limits are still unclear, the fact that even Turbo Granny seemed impressed speaks to the immense strength of this ability.
7. Bamora’s kindness hides a massive power
Her power suit transforms her into a mighty Kaiju
Born on a planet besieged by the imperial alien Kur, Bamora was raised in the resistance. She learned both combat and language simultaneously, and while she retained her kindness in all circumstances, her prowess allowed her to survive even in the harshest conditions. After years of conflict, Bamora's life is forever altered by the final attack on the resistance, which leaves most of her loved ones dead and entrusts her with technology capable of reshaping the world.
Bamora's technological suit, inspired by Godzilla, can change shape in two fundamental ways: growing larger and becoming invisible. In her Kaiju form, Bamora utilizes the Void Space, a Dandadan concept separating the human and supernatural worlds. She also gains the strength, speed, and combat power of a 15-meter monster, a force that can rival the most powerful yokai and extraterrestrials.
6. Serpos are stronger together than apart
When fans first met the insidious Serpo, they immediately understood how dominant its power could be. Thanks to their advanced technology and unique physiology, the Serpos are a powerful force that is difficult to defeat. While alien races and yokai have shown their ability to defeat them, the Serpos have yet to encounter an enemy immune to their greatest ability: the Impressive Zone.
The Serpos reproduce asexually, replacing the DNA of other species with their own characteristics. By joining forces with their kin, they combine their psychokinetic abilities to create an inevitable field, ensuring that everything within a certain radius is under their control. The Serpos can also introduce new abilities into their species by assimilating other species, granting them near-infinite evolutionary potential.
5. Seiko Ayase is a powerful spiritual medium with the gods by her side
A paranormal expert ready to offer guidance and assistance
Despite Momo's mistaken belief that her grandmother is a fraud, Seiko Ayase's spiritual powers are very real—and formidable. A seasoned and well-known medium in the paranormal world, Seiko has an in-depth knowledge of yokai and never falters, even when facing the most formidable opponents.
Although Seiko cannot harness the powers of a specific yokai or use telekinesis like her granddaughter, she can borrow the powers of local gods to perform exorcisms and combat evil spirits. Her domain is usually limited to the city of Kamikoshi, making it difficult for her to assist the heroes on distant missions. However, by serving the gods—such as visiting temples for three days after using their powers—she can gain supernatural allies across Japan.
4. Kinta Sakata develops an unexpectedly powerful skill

Kinta Sakata’s first impression was far from favorable: a classmate of Okarun’s, superficial and excessively confident, Kinta was unhelpful and frightening when he first became involved in the heroes' occult activities. However, his obsession with mechas proves useful when the protagonists discover nanoskin, an extraterrestrial material capable of transforming into anything its user imagines.
Having dreamed of piloting a giant robot his entire life, Kinta easily visualizes the ideal weapon, making him the most skilled nanoskin user in the series. The Great Bodhisattva Kinta, Zeta Version, is a colossal mecha capable of fighting on equal footing with Kur’s most powerful exoskeletons.
3. Kur's advanced unit relies on exoskeletons to devastate distant worlds

A race of planetary conquerors traveling through the universe, the Kur are a terrifying force that has already devastated Sumer, the home planet of Vamola. Unlike other powerful characters in the series, the Kur's advanced unit benefits from numerical superiority, made up of ten known members. Individually, they can be eliminated—though with difficulty—as shown by the events of the Space Globalists arc, one of Dandadan's most captivating storylines.
However, collectively, they form the most powerful extraterrestrial force in Dandadan to date. The unit's leader, Hastur Kur, is a particularly formidable adversary, as his exoskeleton allows him to sculpt and manipulate space. Equipped with technology as powerful as their exoskeletons, each of which possesses unique combat abilities, the Kur were once nearly invincible in their intergalactic conquest before arriving on Earth.
2. The Count of Saint-Germain's powers are mysterious but terrifying
An elusive alien with hidden potential
A new addition to the Dandadan team, Count Saint-Germain is an enigmatic ally of the Kur, with his true motivations, as well as the extent of his power and influence, still undetermined. Yet it is clear that Count Saint-Germain may be the strongest character in Dandadan. His power allows this mysterious extraterrestrial to steal the powers of any yokai that admits defeat.
The acquired abilities are then inserted into the Count's sword via a vial and used at his discretion. Responsible for the powers of Unji Zuma and Kouki Yukishiro—and the only one to mention the series' eponymous phenomenon, Dandadan—Count Saint-Germain undoubtedly has even more cards up his sleeve, and fans are eager to discover the plans of this enigmatic antagonist.
1. Reiko Kashima's mirror holds a dimension under her complete control
The most powerful Yokai in Dandadan
A malevolent spirit residing in the abandoned area of Kamigoe City, Reiko Kashima is the yokai that should never be challenged. A vain spirit obsessed with appearances, Reiko draws her powers from her pocket mirror, a window into a pocket dimension over which the yokai has total control.
The mirror allows Reiko to attack her targets from a distance by using it as a portal or completely trap anyone who reflects in its surface within her realm. A mirror shard can also allow Reiko to possess an individual, provided she keeps it with her. The most impressive feat of Reiko was capturing the entirety of Kur’s force within her pocket dimension, which practically saved Earth from a massive extraterrestrial invasion.
