Rakuro Hizutome

Rakuro Hizutome (陽務 楽郎 Hizutome Rakurō), better known by his nickname Sunraku (サンラク), is the main character of the story.

Appearance

Sunraku is a thin, slender teenager of average height, with blue eyes and blue hair; the front of his hair is neat while the back is messy.
His avatar's appearance in S.L.F. is that of an athletic young man, half-naked, wearing blue shorts with a belt and his iconic blue bird-shaped headpiece with a yellow beak. This headpiece hides his face, as he sold all his armor during character creation to gain a financial advantage at the start of the game. After being defeated by Lycagon, he received the Lycagon's Mark, a scar-like curse that appears on his torso and leg. This mark prevents the use of equipment on the affected areas, forcing him to play as a half-naked character.

Personality

Rakuro is relaxed and carefree in daily life. He is caring toward those around him, such as informing his mother that one of her pet butterflies escaped before leaving for school. However, his most striking trait is his attraction to Kusoge (Trash Games)—games known for their bugs, unfair mechanics, and poor AIs, which require real skill to complete. As Pencilgon mentioned during their fight against Wethermon the Tombguard in chapter 36: "With Sunraku, the worse the hand the game deals him, the more motivated and better he becomes as a player." His friends know him as a Kusoge fanatic and a madman. Rakuro shows great passion when discussing his victories over bad game mechanics and glitches.

Abilities

As a Mercenary (Dual Blade User) (傭兵（二刀流使い) Yōhei (Nitōryū-tsukai)), Sunraku uses specific abilities as a swordsman and dual wielder. He chose the Wanderer role, which has low defense growth but offers high luck bonuses, influencing critical hit rates and loot drops. Upon reaching level 99, Sunraku is visited by a fortune teller and obtains an arcane sub-job called The Fool.

While he primarily uses dual daggers in combat, Sunraku knows how to employ other weapon types to gain an advantage in battles. He uses throwing knives for long-range combos; although this requires spending money on disposable weapons, it proves useful in certain situations.

Sub-job "The Fool": In exchange for halving skill cooldown times, the damage and duration of debuffs are doubled, and the success of healing items becomes random.

Piercing Skills:

• [ Screw Pierce ] (スクーピアス Sukū Piasu): A quick strike in a compact attack. Very powerful, but cannot be used in rapid succession.
• [ Spiral Edge ]: An evolved form of Screw Pierce, channeling a blue energy aura around the weapons, dealing damage in a spiral rotation.
• [ Drill Piercer ]: A more powerful version of Spiral Edge, emitting blue energy and dealing heavy piercing damage.
• [ Glowing Pierce ]: Evolved form of Drill Piercer, capable of piercing deeper into enemies.
• [ Assassin Pierce Lv.MAX ]: A combined skill that increases attack power against an unalerted enemy.

Rotation Skills:

• [ Spin Slash ]: A circular area-of-effect attack.
• [ Rush Spin ]: A quick strike with a series of blows.
• [ Quick Spin ]: Rapid rotation to deal burst damage.

Slashing Skills:

• [ Loop Slash Lv.5 ]: Mid-air spiral attack generating a blue energy wave.
• [ Cleaver ]: Attack not yet utilized.

Melee Skills:

• [ Hand Of Fortune ]: An energy punch amplified by the luck statistic.
• [ Infight Lv.MAX ]: Enhancement of close-quarters combat damage.

Grimoire Skills:

• Vorpal Sword Tech – Moon Reflection V3: Creates a crescent-shaped cross mark, dealing damage via a mirror reflection.

Defensive and Counter-Attack Skills:

• [ Flash Counter ]: Bonus to counter-attacks following a parry.
• [ Perfect Parry ]: Parrying an enemy attack with perfect timing.
• [ Parry Protect ]: Crosses two weapons in an X-shape to create a shield against an attack.

Buff Skills:

• [ Accel Lv.MAX ]: Temporarily increases attack power and agility.
• [ Climax Boost ]: Enhancement of all statistics for 5 minutes.

Equipment - Weapons

• Goblin Hand Axe: The Goblin Hand Axe (ゴブリンの手斧 Goburin no Teono) is a blunt weapon obtained by defeating a goblin. The weapon has low durability and a very low resale value.

• Vorpal Chopper: The Vorpal Chopper (致命の包丁 [ヴォーパルチョッパー] Vōparu Choppā) is a rare drop obtained after defeating the Vorpal Bunny monster. The weapon's special effect provides a bonus to critical damage.

• Marsh Daggers: The Marsh Daggers (湖沼の短剣 Koshō no Tanken) are weapons crafted by the blacksmith in Secondil. To craft them, the player must collect a rare ore called Marsh Coffin Fossil. The weapon's special effect halves durability depletion for a short time after a critical hit. Later, they were upgraded to level 3, becoming sturdier and better designed compared to the initial version during the fight against Wethermon. This is currently Sunraku's main weapon when not using the Moon Blades.

• Togetsu (MOON BLADE): The Moon Blade (Waxing & Waning) Togetsu was recreated by the divine artisan Vysache by infusing the Quad Beetle shell with Vorpal Choppers. During a critical hit against a higher-level opponent, Waning reduces the user's HP in exchange for a power boost to the next attack. Waxing allows the user to regain HP under the same circumstances while increasing the fusion gauge of both weapons. Once the gauge is full, the two blades can combine to form the Twin Moon. The Twin Moon increases the chance and power of critical hits based on the level difference between the user and a stronger enemy. Required Stats: STR 40 / DEX 55 / TEC 55

• Empire Bee Twinblade: A twin sword crafted from Empire Queen Bee materials by Bilac. The right sword has the "Corrosive Poison" effect, contaminating and destroying the area hit.

• Dullahan General's Decapitator / Flame General's Decapitator: A large rusted sword obtained after defeating a Dullahan General. It gives a damage bonus when attacking the target's head. The sword was later repaired and upgraded by Bilac into the Flame General's Decapitator.

• Gilta Brille: When you possess or equip an item giving +400 in VIT, you can use this weapon. It functions with voice commands, firing crystals with the command "Shoot Out" and enlarging the crystal with "Grow Up".
