Nakime is a supporting antagonist in the Infinite Dimensional Fortress arc of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. She is the mysterious Biwa Demoness who inhabited the Infinite Dimensional Fortress. Initially, she was just a demon used to summon other demons into the fortress on Muzan Kibutsuji's orders, but after Hantengu's death, she became the new Upper Fourth Moon of the Twelve Demonic Moons.

Appearance
At the time of her debut, Nakime had the shape of a pale woman with a grayish complexion, pointed blue nails and notably red lips that contrasted sharply with her skin tone. She had shiny, waist-length dark-brown hair, which she wore falling down her back in light waves that cut sharply at the ends, with two strands down to her chin to frame her face and a long fringe that masked her large eye placed between them, swept to either side of her nose.
Nakime wore a plain black kimono with white lining, fastened with a pale brown striped obi, white socks and no shoes. She was always seen holding a four-stringed wooden biwa with a large Bachi pick.
Since becoming a higher rank, Nakime began wearing her bangs so as not to obscure her face, showing that she possessed only one large pink eye with the kanji for "Four" engraved on its iris. The upper part of her face was also revealed and appeared to be a darker grey color than the rest of her skin, with prominent veins surrounding her eye.
Personality
Nakime was a mysterious but cold biwa player who showed little emotion. She spoke only when necessary, and when she did, she was always direct and to the point, making her answers as brief as possible.
History
Past
In the past, Nakime was a somber biwa-loving musician struggling to make ends meet. But the man she married was hopelessly addicted to gambling and squandered his winnings and savings without contributing anything to improve their lives.
One night, she was supposed to go and play her biwa at a particular stadium, but discovered that her husband had stolen her show dress and hijacked it. Enraged, Nakime murdered her husband with a hammer. Shortly after killing her husband, Nakime realized that the appointed time to perform was fast approaching, and she was forced to wear a worn and tattered dress as she hurriedly left her stage. However, the crowd didn't appreciate her shabby appearance, and with the traumatic sensation of committing murder for the first time still fresh in her mind, her hands trembled with nervousness as she played her biwa.
But amazingly, the sound coming from biwa as Nakime played with the utmost tension, was so beautiful that her audience loved her performance and shouted for an encore. Her clients and the stage manager were both pleased with the unexpected result, and Nakime was generously paid. Since then, Nakime has developed a disturbing habit of killing people before performing in front of large audiences. Strangely enough, every time she performed her biwa after committing murder, her performance received extremely positive feedback from customers and stage managers alike.
On one fateful day, she had a routine appointment to perform at another stage, so chose someone to kill, but the target was none other than Muzan Kibutsuji. Muzan was impressed by Nakime's research skills, so he spared her life and offered to turn her into a demon. Nakime accepted his offer, became a demon and rose through the ranks to become one of Muzan's best servants.
Synopsis
Bow Recovery Training
Nakime makes her Infinite Dimensional Fortress debut by playing her biwa, summoning the lower ranks for a meeting after Rui's death. She doesn't utter a word.
Arc Quartier of Plaisirs
Nakime plays her biwa again to summon the higher ranks to a meeting after the deaths of Daki and Gyutaro.
When Akaza asks her where Muzan is, she replies flatly that he hasn't arrived yet. She is also asked where the First Superior Moon is, to which she replies (after Akaza and Doma's fight) that it has always been there; she was the first to arrive.
At the end of the meeting, Nakime again plays her biwa to separate the upper ranks and flatly refuses Doma's offer, cutting him off by sending him back to his temple.
Bow Pillar Training
Nakime, now the new top rank 4 replacing Hantengu, is with Muzan. Using small eye pets, she has tracked down the Demon Slayers and determined their locations and hiding places. Honoring Muzan's compliment on her rapid growth, she uses her technique to locate Kagaya Ubuyashiki.
Infinite Dimensional Fortress Bow
When the Army of Demon Slayers arrives at Ubuyashiki Manor to try and stop Muzan, they are all transported into the fortress and separated from each other by Nakime.
Obanai Iguro and Mitsuri Kanroji are the first to meet her, but find it extremely difficult to deal her blows due to her control over the environment.
After Kokushibo's death in Chapter 176, Nakime is the only remaining Superior Rank and the last member of the Twelve Moons.
Later, at the start of Tanjiro and Giyu's battle with Muzan, the latter reveals that Nakime has successfully "defeated" Obanai and Mitsuri, crushing them both to death using the pieces of her fortress. However, she is taken by surprise when the supposedly dead duo launch a surprise attack against her, still very much alive, and angrily asks Nakime what she is doing. Muzan is shocked to learn that Yushiro has completely taken control of Nakime's vision, and with it, the fortress, which he begins to use against the Demon Lord in revenge for his murder of Tamayo.
Muzan immediately begins to counter Yushiro, using his own mental powers to regain his last superior rank, triggering a fierce battle of wills between the two demons. This mental battle causes the castle to spiral completely out of control as the two fight for dominance, and, just as Muzan seems to have gained the upper hand, Obanai and Giyu launch an attack on the demon lord. He has no choice but to counter, causing Nakime to lose his grip as he tries to defend himself and repel the Pillars with his own attacks.
Soon realizing that he can't take Nakime back and fight the Purifiers at the same time, Muzan uses his powers to kill his last higher rank by crushing his head, preventing Yushiro from using the fortress against him and allowing him to concentrate fully on killing Tanjiro and the remaining Pillars. As Nakime doesn't immediately disintegrate, Yushiro manages to use his body to push the fortress above ground to protect the slayers.
Capabilities
Overall capabilities: As the new holder of the Superior Fourth Moon title, Nakime possessed enormous strength. She was able to use her abilities to defend herself against Obanai and Mitsuri, two incredibly strong Pileirs, simultaneously, without either of them even being able to scratch her.
Eye Detachment: Later, after obtaining the higher rank 4 and presumably receiving more Muzan blood, she displayed the new ability to create and detach several eyeballs from her body. This enabled her to spy on others from a distance. With this new ability, she managed to find and locate the positions of almost every member of the Demon Slayers army, as well as the hidden mansion of Kagaya Ubuyashiki, who had gone to great lengths to conceal his location from even the highest-ranking members of the army.
Talented Biwa player: Nakime was an expert Biwa player, attracting the attention of others when she performed while still human.
Blood Power
Fortress manipulation: Nakime possesses the ability to manipulate and create a seemingly infinite castle simply by playing her biwa. She can create and shape rooms, such as an open room filled with giant pillars where the fight against Kokushibo took place; a small garden where the fight against Doma took place; a corridor leading to several other rooms where the fight against Akaza took place. Nakime can also use this ability offensively, shaping rooms into gigantic pillars and driving them into enemies to crush them. By attaching and rooting her hair to a nearby wall inside the castle, she could control the positioning of the castle as she pleased: moving and changing the positioning of various rooms and walls as if they were her own limbs. This, however, probably rendered her immobile.
- Portal creation: Nakime can also create portals in the form of doors. She can also use her portals for both offensive and defensive purposes, displayed when she created a portal to nullify Mitsuri Kanroji's attack. One of her main tasks was to serve as a means of transport for other higher ranks when sent on missions, and presumably to help Muzan move around the country undetected.
- Spatial Manipulation: Nakime can manipulate space within her castle to a certain extent. She can use this ability to teleport everyone in her fortress to any other location or even outside without having to create portals.
Fighting
- Mitsuri Kanroji and Obanai Iguro against Nakime
Anecdotes
- The name "Nakime" contains the kanji for "call, cry" (鳴 naki) and "woman, female" (女 moi).
- Nakime has many similarities with the former lower rank 6, Kyogai. They both use a Blood Power that allows them to freely manipulate a specific structure at will, have a musical instrument to use their individual techniques and received their epithets based on these instruments.
- She was one of Muzan's favorite top ranks, as he thinks her ability is useful.
- Nakime's name was mistranslated as "Nasume" in the official English version of Volume 12.
