Throughout Attack on Titan, fans thought that Paradis Island would be the only setting for the manga and that the plot would focus solely on the Eldians living on the island. However, the truth about the series' world was revealed, introducing many new characters.
One of these new characters is Gabi Braun, Reiner's cousin, who played a key role in the manga's last two arcs. Gabi underwent significant development, moving from wanting to become Marley's best warrior and kill all the inhabitants of Paradis, to allying with the Survey Corps to save the entire world. 10."I shot her! But I only took out a few. Our real revenge for what they did to our home hasn't happened yet! We won't lose to these deceptive devils!"
When Gabi killed Sasha, one of the most beloved soldiers of the Survey Corps, she quickly became one of the most hated characters by fans. When she is brought to Paradis under the false name Mia, she confesses her crime to Niccolo, a Marleyan who had feelings for Sasha, unaware of their relationship. This led to the discovery of her true identity by Sasha's family.
9."I killed one of your comrades. I knocked out a guard with a rock. But this boy, Falco, didn't do it. Let him be your prisoner. You just have to kill me, right?"
After the confrontation with Sasha's family, Mikasa and Armin save Gabi. Convinced at the time that Eldians were demons, she asks them to spare Falco, her close friend, and only punish her. Armin assures her they won't kill her, before Eren enters the room.
8."What makes me different from all of you is that I'm ready. Ready to carry the fate of all Eldians on my shoulders and slaughter all the devils on this island who caused us so much suffering."
When Gabi is first introduced during the battle between Marley and the Mid-East Allied Forces, this quote perfectly defines her mindset at the time. She is ready to do anything for her loved ones, even if it means killing thousands, proving her determination by playing a crucial role in the victory against their enemies.

7."It seems you haven't recognized your sins yet. Have you already forgotten the brutal atrocities committed by the inhabitants of this island against the world?"
As Gabi and Falco escape their cell and encounter Kaya and Sasha's family, Gabi continues to believe in the ideas instilled by Marley, trying to guilt-trip Kaya for crimes she didn't commit, but her own beliefs start to be questioned.
6."Because I am an Eldian born in this internment zone, people looked down on me when they saw me walking in town. I lived through many horrible things here, but that's exactly why I tried so hard."
After seeing her home destroyed by the invasion of Eren and the Survey Corps in Marley, Gabi declares she wants to prove that Eldians are good, while also being motivated by a personal desire for revenge after the death of her close friends.
5."Mister Zeke is organizing an attack against Marley, and now it's you? Why did we fight? I thought that if the world recognized we were good Eldians, Eldia would be free one day?"

As part of the plan to deceive Eren, Pieck pretends to be a traitor, which deeply upsets Gabi, but she eventually discovers the truth.
4."I am the devil. I killed many people. All just to receive praise. That's my devil."
Gabi finally admits that her beliefs were wrong and realizes that the distinction between good and evil is not based on race, but on one's actions.
3."Not only did I drag Falco into all this, but he saved me so many times. I can't run away after all the harm I've caused him!"
Despite her mistakes, Falco always stays by Gabi's side, which she finally acknowledges and wants to help him in return.
2."There were no devils on this island. Only humans. I finally understand how Reiner feels."
After her journey to Paradis Island, Gabi realizes that the island's inhabitants are not the demons she imagined, but innocent people who deserve to live as much as the Eldians of Marley.

Finally, Gabi apologizes to those she tried to kill, pleading for their help to save her family and the inhabitants of Liberio, marking the reconciliation between the two sides in their fight to save the world.
