Appearance
Karasu is a tall, muscular, bald man who wears a metal beak-shaped mask over his face, which has a speaker function, as he always speaks in a low voice, but rarely thinks to activate it. He wears a dark feather-covered cloak that leaves his chest exposed, dark pants and a scarf around his neck. His overall appearance is reminiscent of a raven.

Personality
Karasu is a very quiet man who usually speaks in inaudible mumbles, hence the loudspeaker function of his mask, which he needs to activate to make himself heard by others. He doesn't seem to like people who react negatively to his mumblings, judging by the veins that bulge on his forehead in anger when Pinkbeard questions him.
Skills and competencies
As an elite officer of the revolutionary army, Karasu occupies an important position within the organization, and as commander of the Northern Army, he exercises authority over all the soldiers in it.
Demon fruit
Karasu has eaten the Susu Susu no Mi, a Logia-type Demon Fruit that allows him to control soot at will; the creation of sooty ravens is his main use, and in this form he is able to perform actions over a wide area, including stealing all the Pinkbeard Pirates' swords at once. Each raven is capable of carrying a medium-sized person on its back, and Karasu seems to be able to deliver newspapers to other revolutionaries, as well as communicating his creations to other interlocutors.

He can also create obelisks of soot, which he uses to attack his opponents.
Haki
Karasu has the ability to use both Weapon's Haki and Observation's Haki.
History
Dressrosa Arc
With Sabo, Koala and Hack having completed their mission on Dressrosa, Karasu and a few others came to take them back to Baltigo. Karasu flew to Sabo in the form of a group of crows. He told her they were just waiting for him to leave and took her to the ship, where they set sail.
Arc Rêverie
Karasu and the other commanders Lindbergh, Belo Betty and Morley arrived in the Kingdom of Lulusia to protect it from Pinkbeard's pirates. When Pinkbeard wondered what Karasu was saying, the executive glowered at him. Betty asked him and Lindbergh to lend a hand to the citizens, whom she had encouraged to take action. Karasu, transformed into crows, managed to steal the pirates' swords without difficulty, and they were quickly defeated. The commanders then headed for Momoiro Island to meet with the rest of the army about their forthcoming declaration of war against the Celestial Dragons. On their way out, Lindbergh pointed out to Karasu that he had forgotten to activate his loudspeaker.
Later, Karasu infiltrated Mary Joy with Sabo, manifesting as a flock of crows that frightened King Sterry in the process.
Karasu successfully infiltrated Mary Geoise with Sabo, Morley and Lindbergh. Morley then installed them in an underground shelter with his power, while Sabo became indignant at Kuma's fate.
Wano Kuni Bow
We catch a glimpse of her silhouette when Blackbeard explains that the Revolutionaries have stormed the Reverie in an attempt to rescue Kuma, and are confronting Admirals Ryokugyu and Fujitora in Marie-Joie.
The Revolutionaries managed to escape with Kuma, but were separated from Sabo.
Egg Head Island Arc
Back on Momoiro Island, Lindbergh and the other revolutionaries were relieved to learn that Sabo was still alive, despite the newspaper report that he had murdered Nefertari Cobra. As Dragon went to interrogate Kuma, Sabo called the other revolutionaries and denied having killed the king. Sabo tried to report what he'd seen to Pangea Castle, but the world government cut off the signal and destroyed the kingdom of Lulusia.
Later, the revolutionaries were repairing Kuma when he got up of his own accord, ran to the coast and propelled himself off the island.
Karasu then took part in Mary's attack alongside his companions.

Trivia
- Karasu" means "raven" in Japanese.
- His name is mentioned in the credits of Episode 738, whereas it is not revealed in the anime until Chapter 904. This may be a coincidence, given that Episode 738 only features ravens.
- Karasu resembles the Vulture, one of Spiderman's recurring enemies, notably because of his baldness, his beak-shaped mask and his relationship with birds.
- The mask Karasu wears resembles the mask worn by plague doctors.
- His outlaw streak in relation to the World Government and crows is in common with the character of Itachi Uchiwa and his crow, and Karasu is the name of the puppet created by Sasori and belonging to Kankuro in Naruto. Sasori and Itachi are both members of Akatsuki, an organization as dangerous to the Five Villages as the Revolutionary Army is to the World Government. The Akatsuki symbol is a cloud that evokes the sky, and Karasu uses an animal that flies in the sky.
- Karasu's voice is so weak that he needs a megaphone to speak, which resembles Melk the 1ᵉʳ, from the Toriko anime. He has such a weak voice that he has to use a special stone to amplify his voice so that others can understand him.
- His unnamed Demon Fruit is somewhat similar to Tamago's Tama Tama no Mi in that both possess traits belonging to all three Demon Fruit categories, making it difficult to classify.
- Both fruits have bird-related powers.
- Karasu loves sausages, but hates chicken.
- Oda revealed in the SBS of Vol. 91 that his favorite hobby was volunteering.
