Kaigaku is a supporting antagonist in Infinity Castle Arcof Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba . He is a demon affiliated with the Twelve Kizuki, occupying the position of High Rank Six replacing Daki and Gyutaro after their deaths.
Kaigaku was a former Demon Slayer and Zenitsu Agatsuma's main disciple under former Thunder Hashira,Jigoro Kuwajima. However, at some point during Hashira training, Kaigaku went on a mission and encountered the top rank one, Kokushibo, quickly surrendering to him to save his own skin and later becoming a member of the Twelve Kizuki.

Appearance
As a human, Kaigaku is a muscular young man of medium height with short, spiky black hair, with two thick locks framing his face, and a pair of dull, cold turquoise eyes framed by thick, arched eyebrows. He has a hostile face, which is always set in a semi-permanent snarl.
After becoming a demon, he acquires many demonic traits such as four black, flame-like markings on both sides of his cheeks, elongated fang-like canines, pale, sickly skin, sharp, blackened fingernails and pointed ears. On becoming a member of the Twelve Kizuki and rising to the rank of Superior Rank Six, his eyes are engraved with the kanji for "Superior Rank" and "Six".
When he was still human, still training under Kuwajima, he wears a black kimono with a white collar, worn loosely to expose his chest and magatama necklaces around his neck. When he became a demon slayer, he wore the Corps' standard uniform consisting of a black gakuran-like jacket, a pair of equally black tattsuke-hakama pants held up by a white belt, tucked into a white kyahan wrapped around his ankles, and a pair of tabi and zori socks.
When he became a demon, he wears his signature kimono attached with a blue obi over his Demon Slayer uniform, which has yellow flame-shaped markings near the chest. His forearms are apparently wrapped in a kyahan-like material . He also wears several neck and wrist collars with green strings holding together blue magatama-like pendants that were yellow when he was human.
Personality
Although seemingly impetuous and arrogant, Kaigaku is in fact cowardly and selfish. Like many orphans living on the streets, he grew up resorting to theft and other immoral means to survive. He even sacrifices the lives of all the orphans in Gyomei's care to save his own skin. This has led him to develop an intense form of self-preservation, often doing what's in his own interest at the expense of others.
At some point after that, Kaigaku met and became Jigoro Kuwajima's disciple. Because of his great talent with a sword, he was poised to become the next Thunder Hashira . However, unlike other orphans who join the Corps , Kaigaku has never developed a desire to kill demons or protect people. When confronted with a stronger opponent, Kaigaku quickly surrenders. What's more, he seems to have developed a sense of hypocritical self-importance. He called Zenitsu Agatsumas worthless for having neither dignity nor perseverance, and was put off by the idea of succeeding Jigoro with him. Kaigaku also seems to have a twisted perspective of "good" and "evil", believing that those who judge him well (i.e., say he's worthy) are good and those who judge him poorly and think little of him are evil. What's more, he also has an inflated ego, seeing himself as special and gifted.
In the end, after being beheaded and at death's door, Kaigaku remains unrepentant and is glad to know that at least Zenitsu would die with him. However, Yushiro arrives and begins to mock him, saying that he will receive nothing since he has never learned to give, and Kaigaku's fate was sealed once he decided to let his desire swell and take control of himself. Seeing Yushiro save Zenitsu, Kaigaku screams in anger as the rest of his body disintegrates.
History
Kaigaku was an orphan and a thief who had to eat scraps and steal to survive. He was one of the orphans cared for by Gyomei Himejima at his temple. After being caught by the other children for stealing the temple's money, he was hunted at night and met a demon, whom he then let into the temple in exchange for sparing his life.
Kaigaku developed the conviction that strength and survival were the only things worthy of respect, and was willing to crawl and beg for his life if that's what it took to survive. Eventually, he was taken in by Jigoro with Zenitsu, learning Thunder Breathing. He became determined to become Jigoro's successor and the new Thunder Hashira . Jigoro, however, insisted that he and Zenitsu would become his successors, despite Zenitsu's weak and timid nature.

During his battle with Son of the Spider Family. Zenitsu recalls a moment in his training when Kaigaku reprimanded him for wasting Jigoro's time, which he had respected, because of his constant whining and cowardice. When he called their trainer "Gramps", Kaigaku threw him a peach and demanded that he never try to act with him.
Hashira training bow
During Hashira training, Zenitsu learns that Kaigaku has become a demon and that Jigoro has committed seppuku to atone. Kaigaku had the misfortune to meet Kokushibo and, after witnessing the immense power of the Superior Rank, knelt before him and surrendered in order to save his own skin. Inside Infinity Castle , he and Zenitsu search for each other. Kaigaku is finally decapitated by Zenitsu's Honoikazuchi no Kami technique. Kaigaku comments with frustration that their master favored Zenitsu more for teaching him a technique until Zenitsu admitted that the technique was his own making in order to fight alongside Kaigaku on an equal footing. Kaigaku notes that Zenitsu was about to die of severe exhaustion, only for him to be saved by Yushiro in the final seconds. Kaigaku's head screams in anger as he disintegrates.

General capabilities: As a member of the higher ranks, Kaigaku is extremely powerful. Combined with his swordplay skills as a skilled demon slayer, Kaigaku is an extremely deadly demon. Electrokinesis: Complementing his Thunder Breathing breathing style, Kaigaku's Blood Demon Art gives him special electrokinetic abilities that enable him to generate and manipulate lightning bolts and black electricity from his flesh and blood. This lightning-like art of the bloodthirsty demon creates a special effect that cracks and tears the flesh of its target while burning it, greatly increasing the lethality and offensive capacity of its attacks.
