Appearance
Igris is a tall knight with a purple aura, clad in jet-black armor from head to toe. He wears a tattered black cape and has long red hair that flows out from under his helmet. His left eye bears the scar inflicted by Jin-Woo during their battle, although in the anime, the scar appears on his right eye.
Personality
Igris is loyal, respectful, and chivalrous, often kneeling before his master after completing a battle. A recurring gag is his habit of bringing back the heads of his enemies to Jin-Woo, which became an issue when Iron started copying him. Like Jin-Woo, Igris disapproves of Iron’s antics and is often annoyed by his reckless behavior in combat.
Despite his love for fighting, Igris values education. This is shown during his conversation with Bellion, where he insists Suho should focus on school rather than training to fight. He holds Suho in high regard and appears both happy and thoughtful when the boy manages to defeat him during a training session.
History
Igris once served the Shadow Monarch Ashborn during the ancient war against the Rulers. When Ashborn decided to step down and find a human successor, he tasked Igris with testing that successor in battle when the time came.
After Jin-Woo acquired the Shadow Extraction skill, he successfully used it on the Blood-Red Commander Igris, earning his loyalty. However, finding his original title too long, Jin-Woo simply named the shadow “Igris.”
Though he was Jin-Woo’s first major shadow extraction, Igris initially played a minor role in the story. His position as Jin-Woo’s strongest shadow was eventually surpassed by Tusk and then by Beru. However, following Jin-Woo’s rebirth as the new Shadow Monarch, Igris regained his full powers and was promoted from Elite Knight to Marshal.
Abilities
As a Marshal-grade shadow, Igris is immensely powerful. He is one of Jin-Woo’s most formidable shadows, rivaled only by Beru and surpassed solely by Bellion. The Frost Monarch Sillad declared that, with his restored power, Igris is a more formidable opponent than Beru. Even Jin-Woo’s son, Sung Suho, recognizes Igris as an extraordinary being.
During his service under Ashborn, Igris was known as one of the “Two Wings” of the Shadow Army.
Master Swordsman: Igris is a highly skilled swordsman with eons of battle experience, making him the most proficient blade-user in the Shadow Army.
Superior Intelligence: Igris has a sharp intellect and often acts as a mentor—not just to Jin-Woo, but to other shadows as well. His strategic and tactical mindset gives him an edge in combat.
Hand-to-Hand Combat Mastery: He is highly skilled in unarmed combat, once nearly defeating Jin-Woo if not for a surprise attack at the last moment.
Immense Strength: Igris displays overwhelming physical power, managing to hold off the Frost Monarch singlehandedly long enough for Jin-Woo to return to the battlefield.
Incredible Speed and Agility: Igris moves at incredible speeds with acrobatic grace, easily outmaneuvering opponents and striking with unmatched quickness.
Dominator’s Touch: He can manipulate and move objects without physically touching them.
Communication: As a Marshal-grade shadow, Igris is capable of verbal communication.
Regeneration: Igris can continuously regenerate from damage as long as Jin-Woo’s mana is not fully depleted.
