Figure Yuta Okkotsu JJK - Jujutsu Kaisen™

Appearance

Gunhee was a muscular old man with gray hair, gray-green eyes, and numerous scars. When he activated his powers, his eyes glowed a brilliant yellow. As a high-ranking official, he was usually seen wearing a three-piece suit.

Personality

Gunhee was a humble, open, and honest man, deeply appreciative of people with strong morals but openly hostile toward those driven solely by self-interest. As a result, he had a good relationship with Sung Jinwoo and was highly respected in Korean society. Gunhee was also a workaholic to the point that his health suffered because of it. He harbored a deep desire to fight for the greater good, yearning to return to hunting and resenting the limitations of his age.

History

Gunhee was once unquestionably the most powerful hunter in South Korea. Unfortunately, his aging body weakened him, and he was forced to retire after only a few years of hunting. The discovery of healing magic gave Gunhee hope of reversing the effects of aging and returning to the field, but to no avail. With no other option, he gave up on reviving his hunting career and eventually became the chairman of the Korean Hunters Association.

Rank Evaluation Test Arc

After learning that Jinwoo had become South Korea's 10th S-Rank Hunter, Gunhee attempted—unsuccessfully—to recruit him into the Association, knowing Jinwoo wouldn’t be able to raid high-level dungeons if he accepted. Understanding Jinwoo’s honesty, Gunhee accepted his reasoning and decided to skip a scheduled meeting with several ministers in favor of sharing a drink with his right-hand man, Jinchul.

Hunter Guild Gate Arc

Wanting to know more about Jinwoo, Gunhee reviewed his file and discovered his troubled past. He expressed admiration for Jinwoo’s determination to provide for his family despite the high risk of death in every raid. However, to his surprise, Gunhee learned from Jinchul that Jinwoo had joined a mining team under the Hunter Guild.

Return to Demon Castle Arc

Two days later, Gunhee attended Jinwoo’s official re-evaluation and helped him enter the building after Lee Minsung’s bodyguard tried to stop him for disrupting the press event.

Upon learning that the ants from Jeju Island had developed the ability to fly long distances, Gunhee bitterly noted that things were looking grim, especially since the international community refused to help. His despair deepened when Thomas Andre declined to participate in the raid without compensation. However, he was soon proven wrong when Goto Ryuji, Japan’s strongest hunter, came to Korea and offered to help recapture the island with a straightforward plan: Japanese hunters would act as bait while Korean hunters would sneak in and eliminate the queen. With no better options and the plan showing promise, Gunhee agreed to Goto’s proposal.

Jeju Island Arc

After Jinwoo returned from the Demon Castle, Gunhee contacted him about the Korean government’s plan to launch a fourth search-and-destroy raid on Jeju Island. Unfortunately, Jinwoo told him he planned to sit it out to take care of his mother, who had just been cured of Eternal Sleep.

During the broadcast of the fourth Jeju raid, Gunhee accidentally crushed the left armrest of his chair in excitement when Jinwoo appeared to fight the Ant King and saved the other Korean S-Rank hunters from certain death.

Recruitment Arc

Once the Jeju Island raid ended, Gunhee attended Min Byung-Gyu’s funeral and learned from Jinwoo that he planned to start his own guild. When a B-Rank Gate later appeared in the middle of a highway, Gunhee called Jinwoo to see if he could handle it and used his authority to bypass standard raiding laws and let him enter the Gate alone.

Ahjin Guild Arc

Following the massacre at Jinah’s school, Gunhee met with Jinwoo to inform him that many countries were trying to recruit him and sincerely asked him to stay in Korea, offering to provide any resources necessary. Seeing an opportunity, Jinwoo asked if he could legally raid high-level Gates alone, and Gunhee promised to make it happen.

After the National Assembly approved Jinwoo’s request—fearing he might defect to another country—Gunhee sent Jinchul to accompany him on his guild’s first dungeon raid and ensure everything went smoothly. When Jinchul returned hours later, visibly shaken and describing the raid as a massacre, Gunhee realized he had been right about Jinwoo all along: the man was an army unto himself. Gunhee was filled with awe at how Jinwoo’s existence would soon change the world.

The Saga of S-Rank Hunters: Go Gunhee - Solo Leveling:ARISE

Double Dungeon Arc

Soon after a sudden S-Rank Gate appeared in Tokyo, Gunhee personally met with Matsumoto Shigeo, chairman of the Japanese Hunters Association. During the meeting, Matsumoto offered to hire Jinwoo in exchange for returning the Japanese government’s share of the magic crystals retrieved from Jeju Island.

Unfortunately for Matsumoto, Gunhee already knew about his plan to use the Jeju raid to wipe out Korea’s S-Ranks, thanks to a receiver found intact on Goto’s corpse. Outraged that Matsumoto had the audacity to talk about crystals after everything, Gunhee furiously reprimanded him and crushed the receiver in his hand—shattering the table in the process. Still, knowing Jinwoo valued power over material things, Gunhee told Matsumoto he should be grateful Jinwoo even considered his offer, regardless of the reward.

International Guild Conference Arc

Several days before the International Guild Conference, Gunhee learned from his team that Liu Zhigang had requested all public information available on Jinwoo. Though shocked by Liu’s interest, Gunhee refused to cooperate and instructed his team to either give superficial data or deny the request outright.

Monarch War Arc

On the final day of the International Guild Conference in America, Gunhee was still working late in his office. Just as he was about to head home, he noticed a mysterious barrier around him and was startled by the sudden appearance of Sillad sitting on a couch at the far end of the room.

Realizing he couldn’t win, Gunhee still refused to go down without a fight and unleashed his powers to buy time for Jinwoo to arrive. Though he managed to hold his own briefly, his aging body eventually reached its limits, leaving him wide open for a fatal strike to the chest. Without hesitation, Gunhee activated his backup plan and broke a massive hole in the barrier, allowing the ant in his shadow to escape and alert Jinwoo.

While his plan worked and forced Sillad to retreat, by the time Jinwoo reached him, Gunhee had already lost too much blood and was on the brink of death. When Jinwoo tried to heal him with the Blessed Water of Life, Gunhee refused and thanked him for his help. Believing he didn’t deserve to be saved due to his condition, he asked Jinwoo to stand with humanity in the coming war against the Monarchs. He then quietly accepted his fate, bleeding out and dying on the spot in his office.

Epilogue

After the Rulers used the Cup of Reincarnation one final time at Jinwoo’s request, a new timeline was created where humanity remained unaware of magical creatures. In this timeline, Gunhee never became a hunter and thus was never killed by Sillad.

Several years after the timeline reset, Gunhee fell gravely ill and was secretly visited by Jinwoo in the hospital. Jinwoo gave him a bottle containing Sacred Water of Life and told him about the timeline they had shared, fighting side by side. Though the story was hard to believe, Gunhee drank the potion—having nothing to lose and ended up living ten more years than he would have otherwise.

Ten years later, as the potion’s effects began to fade, Gunhee found himself hospitalized again. When Jinwoo visited and offered to heal him a second time, Gunhee declined, content with the long life and extra decade he had been granted. Instead, he asked Jinwoo to show him the world they had fought for together. Moved, Jinwoo restored his memories from the erased timeline. Remembering everything, Gunhee tearfully thanked Jinwoo for the time they had shared and sat smiling as his heart quietly gave out and he passed away peacefully.
