Although his sister Nezuko survived the attack, she ended up becoming a demon. Tanjiro hopes to find a cure for his sister and avenge his family. The series spanned 23 anime volumes and 11 arcs, the last of which was divided into two sub-arcs. Each phase of the story manages to outdo the previous one as the story rapidly becomes darker.
Demon Slayer is undoubtedly one of the most iconic shonen anime of the 2010s. The show has just finished airing the Swordsmith Village arc, where Team Tanjiro must face a whole new group of mastered enemies. That said, anime-only fans have always wondered how many arcs there are in Demon Slayer. As such, we've reorganized this list of all Demon Slayer arcs in order.

The Final Selection Arc Episodes 1 to 5
Tanjiro and Kasugai sing at the final selection Demon Slayer kicks off with the final selection arc. As far as introductory anime arcs go, this one quickly goes from zero to a hundred. One minute, Tanjiro is just your average charcoal salesman, and the next, he's picking up a Nichirin blade to fight demons. After enduring a few years of training under Urokodaki, Tanjiro heads for the final selection, an entrance exam for aspiring demon slayers to prove their worth. They pass if they make it out of the mountain alive after seven days. This arc introduced most of the main characters: Tanjiro, Nezuko and later Zenitsu. One of Demon Slayer's best arcs, it also introduced the concept of the Hashira, starting with Giyu Tomioka.
Bow of the kidnapper's bog
Episodes 6-7
Tanjiro battles the swamp demon in Demon Slayer. The Kidnapper's Bog arc, or First Mission arc, follows Tanjiro's first steps towards becoming a full-fledged demon slayer. He undertakes his first mission in this arc to investigate why young women are inexplicably disappearing. The main event of this arc was Tanjiro and Nezuko's battle with the Swamp Demon. It wasn't a higher or even lower rank in Muzan's twelve Kizuki, but the resulting battle certainly proved just how vicious these demons could be. It also showcased the impressive teamwork of Tanjiro and Nezuko, one of the first Demon Slayer arcs to do so.
Tamayo and Yushiro with a floral background in Demon Slayer. Most demons in the series aren't docile and gentle like Nezuko, but Tamayo and Yushiro are two rare examples of demons capable of coexisting with humanity. However, their debut wasn't the only exciting event in this arc. Tanjiro finally had an altercation with Muzan Kibutsuji, which shook him to the core. After that, he met Tamayo and Yushiro, who welcomed him and listened to his idea about finding a cure for demons. However, they are soon attacked by Susamaru and Yahaba, two hopefuls of the Twelve Kizuki who would do anything to serve Muzan. The Akasuka arc may not have many fights, but it's certainly one of the most important Demon Slayer arcs in terms of story.A collage of demons from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Whether in the lower ranks or in a higher moon, demons like Muzan Kibutsuji and Enmu proved extremely powerful or pathetically weak in Demon Slayer.
The Tsuzumi mansion arch
Episodes 11-14
Tanjiro, worried, puts his hand on a young girl's face to silence her. The Tsuzumi Mansion arc was one of the most action-packed Demon Slayer arcs. Tanjiro was sent on a mission to investigate a house where Kyogai, a former member of the Twelve Kizuki, was wreaking havoc. This arc officially introduced the lovable coward Zenitsu Agatsuma and the hard-headed child boar Inosuke Hashibira. Zenitsu revealed his true power against the Tongue Demon, and fans got their first glimpse of Inosuke's potential in his fight against the Horned Demon. Tanjiro's fight against Kyogai was epic, and its aftermath proved the young demon-slayer's boundless compassion.
The arc of Mount Natagumo
Episodes 15-21
Rui looks down in Demon Slayer. Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke climbed Mount Natagumo on their first group mission to eliminate the terrible spider family. These demons were the most powerful enemies they'd encountered so far, and it was enough to keep Zenitsu on the sidelines for most of the arc. Rui was the first current member of the Twelve introduced by Kizuki, and it took everything Tanjiro and Nezuko had to defeat him. In the end, Giyu reappeared alongside Shinobu, the Hashira Bug, without whom the young heroes would certainly have perished. More importantly, this is the first of all Demon Slayer arcs to feature Tanjiro's Hinokami Kagura.
The arc of rehabilitation training
Episodes 22-26
Demon Slayer - all the Hashira together as a group Although Tanjiro and Nezuko played an important role in the destruction of the Spider family, the fact that he travels with a demon is a crime, at least according to the laws of the Corps. After so much teasing of the elusive Hashira, this arc introduced the other seven members. Despite their attempts to denigrate and discredit Nezuko, Kagaya decided there was no reason to punish anyone and allowed Nezuko to live. After that, the main gang was taken to the Butterfly Mansion, where they spent some time recuperating from the previous battle. At the same time, Muzan was preparing his lower-ranking troops for the battles to come.
Shared image of Tanjiro from Demon Slayer and Dio Brando from JJBA Clearly, Bleach and Naruto helped inspire Demon Slayer, but a third shonen anime also fueled Koyoharu Gotouge's imagination.
Demon Slayer - Rengoku performing a fiery strike One of Demon Slayer's most exciting arcs, Mugen Train, has been adapted into a movie that fans can watch on Crunchyroll. Rengoku stole the show in this arc as the main trio fought alongside him to defeat Enmu, a low-ranking demon who had fused his mind with the train. He was difficult to defeat, especially as the killers were all in dreamland during most of his attack. At its conclusion, this arc proved to be one of the most brutal in the series. Akaza came to the end and defeated Rengoku, proving the seemingly limitless strength of higher-ranking demons.
The arc of the entertainment district
Episodes 35-44
Hashira Tengen Uzui adorned in rhinestones with double swords on his back The Entertainment District arc took the main trio to the Red Light District, where they had to hide out in brothels to locate the demon wreaking havoc on the city. This arc introduced Tengen Uzui, the Flashy Sound Hashira and his three "wives". The arc had some of the best fights of the series and introduced top-ranking demons Daki and Gyutaro, who demonstrated the true terror of Muzan's twelve Kizuki . This arc also subjected Nezuko to a bizarre transformation where she became strong enough to stun Daki, even though she almost lost herself in the process. Although one of the best Demon Slayer arcs of the anime, the battle with Gyutaro left Uzui unable to continue fighting for the Hashira.
The blacksmith village arch
Episodes 44-55
Mitsuri Kanroji smiling and wide-eyed The most recent of all the anime's Demon Slayer arcs is the Swordsmith Village arc. Tanjiro only goes to Swordsmith Village to have his sword repaired, but after meeting Muichiro and Genya, he has to face two higher-ranking demons. Tanjiro, Nezuko, Genya and Mitsuri have all faced Hantengu, a higher-ranking demon capable of generating emotional clones. Meanwhile, Muichiro battled Gyokko, finally defeating the higher-ranked demon 4. The Swordsmith Village arc also revealed that Nezuko had become strong enough to survive the sun - and Muzan wasn't happy to hear about this unexpected development.
Demon Slayer Tanjiro, Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira Demon Slayer's top fighters, like Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Shinobu, are all powerful, but could become even stronger before their final battle with Muzan.
The Hashira training bow
Episodes to be determined
Demon Slayer Volume 16 cover showing Ubuyashiki and his sister The first of the Demon Slayer anime arcs yet to be adapted is the Hashira Training arc. Hashira Training is a chance for lower-ranked killers to train with the best. Tengen Uzui teaches endurance training, Mitsuri manages flexibility and Muichiro helps killers improve their overall speed. Obanai gives advice on how to become a better all-round swordsman, Sanemi handles strength training and Gyomei helps killers develop their muscles. Giyu and Shinobu don't participate, but Tanjiro finally persuades Water Hashira to join in. It's a pretty brutal Demon Slayer arc, but it's full of entertaining banter and feels like the calm before the storm.
The Infinity Castle Arch
Episodes to be determined
Cover of Demon Slayer Volume 17 showing Sanemi Shinazugawa The Final Battle arc is divided into two sub-arcs, marking the end of the entire series. The Demon Slayer Corps is finally ready to face Muzan Kibutsuji. The Infinity Castle arc is the first sub-arc and is packed with explosive battles. All hands on deck to finally defeat the demonic overlord. The arc features tons of great battles, like Shinobu versus Doma, Tanjiro and Giyu versus Akaza, and Obanai and Mitsuri versus Nakime. Many fan favorites were eliminated in this penultimate Demon Slayer arc, but some of the most despised villains had their tragic stories revealed.
The sunrise countdown arc
Episodes to be determined
Cover of Demon Slayer Volume 22 showing Muzan's final form The Sunrise Countdown storyline is the last of the Demon Slayer arcs, finally bringing this iconic story to a close. There were some intense battles during the Infinity Castle arc, but the Sunrise Countdown arc has a fairly explicit premise: the Corps must defeat Muzan and his regime before sunrise. They do eventually defeat Muzan, but Tanjiro becomes a demon and his former comrades must defeat him. Fortunately, he awakens as a human and Nezuko is also healed. Despite their considerable losses, the main trio had a happy ending. Tanjiro is reunited with Kanao, Inosuke with Aoi and Zenitsu is romantically involved with Nezuko. The latter is probably the most unexpected event in all the Demon Slayer arcs.
