Appearance
Hae-In is a beautiful young woman with gray eyes and short blonde hair cut in a bob. She is petite, with a slender figure and a generous bust. During raids, she typically wears red armor and wields a black sword with a silver hilt. When using her powers, her eyes glow with a yellow light.
Personality
Hae-In is a serious, calm, and caring woman, known for her great attention to detail. She patrols the boss's lair during raids to ensure that the miner and transporter squads are neither injured nor killed by dungeon monsters. She is also diligent in her sword training, having continued kendo lessons even two years after reaching S-Rank, and perceptive enough to notice something was off about Sung Jinwoo during their first encounter.
Unlike most high-ranking hunters, Hae-In shows no bias or disdain toward lower-ranked hunters and behaves with humility toward everyone she meets in the field, regardless of their rank. However, despite her generosity, Hae-In is socially awkward outside of dungeon raids. She has few friends and is easily embarrassed, as seen when she was flustered after Jinwoo teased her about the pickaxe incident.
Story
Before becoming a hunter, Hae-In was a high-level athlete whose career was unfortunately cut short due to a serious ankle injury. After retiring from sports, she awakened and became a hunter, becoming Korea’s 9th S-Rank hunter and joining the Hunters Guild as its Vice Guild Master.
During her time with the Hunters Guild, Hae-In was nicknamed "The Dancer" by her teammates because of the graceful movements she made while swiftly slaying monsters with her sword. However, she found the nickname embarrassing and eventually forbade the guild members from using it.
Hunter Guild Gate Arc
Hae-In took part in a raid on an A-rank Gate alongside Choi Jong-In and several other hunters from their guild. After eliminating most of the monsters and partially clearing the dungeon, Hae-In exited the gate with the rest of her team. As they passed by the mining crew, she sensed a powerful presence—Sung Jinwoo. At first, she assumed it was Chairman Go Gunhee, but quickly dismissed the idea, knowing he wouldn’t bother her guild over something so trivial.
Later, while the miners were harvesting mana crystals, Hae-In patrolled the dungeon and noticed Jinwoo, a member of the mining team, approaching the boss room. She warned him not to get too close to avoid provoking the boss and noticed he was holding a weapon. However, when he vanished quickly, she thought she might have been mistaken. As Jinwoo passed by and apologized, Hae-In caught a whiff of his scent and noted that it wasn’t foul like most hunters. She asked for his ID and saw he was registered as an E-rank hunter. Collecting herself, Hae-In told the miner to return to his team, wondering whether his mild scent was due to his low rank. Regardless, she thought he smelled good for a hunter.
That evening, in her apartment, she called a contact at the Korean Hunters Association to gather information on Jinwoo. Initially suspecting he might be a spy from another guild, she was shocked when her contact recognized his name, revealing that her superior, Jong-In, had made a similar inquiry the previous day. However, her contact had no information, as Jinwoo's file was classified. Realizing how suspicious it was for such a low-ranked hunter to have a restricted profile, Hae-In became convinced there was more going on. After hanging up, she lay in bed, thinking of all the hunters she had met—Jinwoo was the only one who actually smelled good.
On her day off, Hae-In visited a raid site where her guild was clearing another A-rank Gate. She looked for Jinwoo among the miners but found him missing. Bae Yoon-Suk noticed her and asked what she was doing there. When she inquired about Jinwoo, Yoon-Suk explained that he had volunteered as a substitute porter for the assault team. Hae-In was shocked that an E-rank hunter had entered an A-rank gate voluntarily. Remembering how she had previously seen him near a boss zone, she grew even more suspicious. Lacking a weapon, she borrowed a miner’s pickaxe from Yoon-Suk and entered the Gate.
Inside, Hae-In discovered the corpses of several High Orcs and wondered how Son Kihoon's team could have defeated them. Sensing a strong mana presence, she deduced it was from a dungeon boss. Realizing Kihoon's group wouldn’t survive, she rushed to help. Upon reaching Kargalgan's throne room, she saw Jinwoo's summoned Shadows massacring the High Orcs. She asked Kihoon's team what was happening, but they were just as confused.
When Kargalgan began to recover and prepared to confront Jinwoo, Hae-In ordered the others to retreat. Woo Jinchul and several Association agents arrived and witnessed the Shadows in action. Hae-In clarified that they were Jinwoo’s summons. Observing Jinchul's reaction, she realized he and his guild master already knew Jinwoo. As they watched Jinwoo fight Kargalgan, Hae-In tried to get answers from Jinchul, but he confessed he knew nothing about the mysterious hunter. After Jinwoo defeated the boss and transformed the High Orc Shaman into a Shadow named Tusk, Hae-In and the others were left speechless.
Shortly after, Jinwoo was escorted out by Jinchul and Association agents. Hae-In had wanted to speak to him but missed her chance when Lee Bora questioned why she was holding a pickaxe. Embarrassed, she wondered if Jinwoo had thought it was strange too.
Jeju Island Arc
In preparation for the Jeju Island raid, all S-rank Korean hunters began training at the Association gym. Hae-In, resting next to Lim Tae-Gyu, noticed Jinwoo standing on the balcony with Gunhee and Jong-In and sensed that the atmosphere around the new S-rank hunter felt different. Surrounded by so many powerful hunters, Hae-In found the overwhelming stench unbearable and covered her nose with a handkerchief.
She later took part in a mock battle against the Drawn Sword Guild’s Japanese hunters alongside Tae-Gyu, Dongwook, and Yoonho. While her teammates were quickly defeated one by one, Hae-In easily overwhelmed Kanae Tawata and rushed to help Yoonho, only to be intercepted by Atsushi Kumamoto. Sensing him sneaking up behind her, she instinctively struck him fourteen times, drawing blood. Unfortunately, this enraged the Japanese hunter, who responded with murderous intent. Before their fight escalated further, Jinwoo stepped in and scolded them, reminding everyone it was just a mock battle.
Soon after, Goto Ryuji challenged Jinwoo to a duel. Hae-In and the other S-rank hunters watched from the sidelines. Initially worried if Jinwoo could handle Japan’s strongest hunter, she remembered how he had recently defeated an A-rank boss and dozens of High Orcs. When Yoonho asked if the presence of so many hunters was affecting her, Hae-In admitted she couldn’t keep covering her nose, especially on Jeju Island. She also asked Yoonho why he didn’t stop Jinwoo from fighting. He replied that normally he would, but like Hae-In, he was intrigued by the outcome.
While Dongwook remarked that Jinwoo was holding his own, Hae-In quickly realized that Jinwoo wasn’t just defending—he was forcing Goto to escalate. As the duel intensified and both started attacking with intent to kill, Hae-In and Yoonho stepped in to subdue Jinwoo, while Goto’s allies restrained him to prevent an international incident.
On the day of the raid, Hae-In boarded a tandem rotor aircraft with the other Korean S-rank hunters and a rank-A hunter tasked with filming the mission. She asked Yoonho if he had seen Jinwoo before takeoff, but he hadn’t. Later, she watched as Jong-In cleared the drop zone of ant monsters, allowing the team to jump and begin their mission to kill the Ant Queen.
After Jong-In erected a fire barrier at the nest’s entrance, Hae-In and the others discovered the egg chamber. Before Jong-In could incinerate the eggs, Hae-In pointed out a hatched egg of unusual size, indicating that a powerful ant was on the loose. Despite this, the hunters focused on defeating the Queen.
Hae-In’s raid team defeated several of the Queen’s royal guards. They were soon healed by Min Byung-Gyu and resumed their advance, slaying all opposition. Hae-In sensed a strong mana odor ahead and deduced it belonged to the Queen and her guards. Yoonho confirmed that only eight guards remained, a manageable number. During the battle, Hae-In saw Yoonho transform into a beast.
While her teammates engaged the Ant Queen, Hae-In fought off the Royal Guards. After eliminating them, she rejoined the fight and delivered the finishing blow by decapitating the Queen. Soon after, the hunters were alarmed to learn that the island’s ants were returning to the nest, implying that the Japanese hunters had failed to hold the rear.
But the true danger became apparent when the terrifying mana pressure of the Ant King descended upon them. Hae-In collapsed to her knees, unable to withstand the overwhelming aura due to her heightened sensitivity. The Ant King inspected the Queen’s corpse and roared in rage. As Hae-In struggled to rise, he targeted her and struck her in the ribs with immense speed, slamming her into the cave wall and knocking her unconscious. The other hunters were left to fend for themselves as the Ant King continued his assault.
Recruitment Arc
After the Jeju Island raid, Hae-In was seen training at a Kumdo school under the guidance of Song Chi-Yul.
Ahjin Guild Arc
Hae-In visited Jinwoo’s guild office to join his guild. Her request puzzled Jinwoo, as she was already a member of a prestigious guild. When he told her the guild's name was "Solo Player," she found it odd. Jinwoo tried to dissuade her from leaving the Hunters Guild by mentioning breach of contract, but Hae-In was firm in her decision, confident she had enough money to pay the penalty. She even agreed to a lower salary in the new guild.
It turned out her real reason for joining was to get closer to Jinwoo, having developed feelings for him. Upon waking up and being transported by plane, she was greeted by Gunhee, who informed her that she had been transferred to a hospital and that Jinwoo was the one who saved her. Having faced death, Hae-In began to reflect more deeply on her feelings for Jinwoo—the one she wanted by her side until the end. However, she couldn’t bring herself to confess, too embarrassed at the thought of being rejected. Unaware of her emotions, Jinwoo assumed she might simply be tired of her current guild and decided to at least let her take the entrance test for his own guild, which involved defeating one of his summoned creatures.
As the Hunter Association's facilities were more suitable, Jinwoo brought Hae-In there using Shadow Exchange. However, Hae-In had no weapon with her, prompting Jinwoo to ask if she still had the pickaxe she wielded during their last encounter, which flustered her. A substitute weapon was eventually found among the reserve weapons in the gym. Jinwoo chose Igris, the knight wielding Baran’s sword, as her opponent. He deliberately avoided selecting Beru, fearing the ant might traumatize her. The duel with Igris ended in Hae-In’s victory. Finding the fight too easy, she requested that Jinwoo summon Beru.
At the beginning of their duel, Beru attempted a sneak attack, just as he had done on Jeju Island when he was still alive. Thanks to her past experience, Hae-In managed to block it. Nevertheless, Beru overwhelmed her by dodging all her attacks and pushing her back with a roar. Jinwoo offered to stop the fight, but Hae-In insisted on continuing. Feeling insulted that she did not acknowledge the difference in strength, Beru’s attacks became fiercer. Hae-In kept her distance and attempted a counterattack using her Sword Dance technique. Her blade shattered upon contact with Beru’s body, but she used Light Sword to recreate her weapon. She managed to pierce Beru, but this triggered his primal instincts, and he nearly destroyed her.
Hae-In was saved by Jinwoo’s timely intervention. After scolding Beru, Jinwoo once again asked why she was trying so hard to join his guild. The hunter remained silent until he directly asked if she was interested in him, to which she shyly replied yes.
Later, back in her apartment, Hae-In rolled around in bed, blaming herself for revealing that she might have feelings for Jinwoo. Apparently, after learning about her feelings, Jinwoo had rejected her application to join his guild. She felt embarrassed about the situation. Even though her interest in Jinwoo made sense—he had saved her—she began to question herself and lamented how everything was going wrong. Reflecting on how Jinwoo had prevented her death on Jeju Island, she admitted her survival was technically due to Min Byung-Gyu’s healing powers. As she thought about the deceased healer, she suddenly recalled a faint memory from when she was unconscious: her soul drifting in an abyss, held by Byung-Gyu’s shadow. The late hunter had begged Hae-In to warn Jinwoo about the dormant powers within him.
While browsing social media, Hae-In saw a photo of Yoo Soohyun posing with Jinwoo and Yoo Jinho, announcing the creation of the Ahjin Guild. The image made her tremble with anger.
Double Dungeon Arc
Hae-In later arrived at the Ahjin Guild’s parking lot. Jinwoo, who had just parked his truck, noticed her even though she tried to hide her face and walk away quietly. He caught up with her and asked why she was avoiding him. At first speechless, Hae-In explained that she had left her car in the parking lot the last time she came to the guild, which was true. Still, she had other reasons for approaching Jinwoo, wishing to speak with him privately. She had personal questions about Soohyun, particularly about her relationship with Jinwoo. Eventually, she passed on Byung-Gyu’s message. Upon hearing it, Jinwoo immediately brought her into the guild’s office.
The emptiness of the office made Hae-In ask about the situation. She was told the vice-guild master was away. Being alone with Jinwoo left the S-Rank hunter visibly unsettled. Returning to Byung-Gyu’s message, Hae-In shared her memory of seeing his soul, how the deceased hunter had described his transformation into a Shadow and his loyalty to Jinwoo. Byung-Gyu had asked her to warn Jinwoo about his powers and to mention his true army.
After meeting with Jinwoo, Hae-In returned to her apartment to take a bath. Unbeknownst to her, one of Jinwoo’s assigned Shadows accidentally let him glimpse her naked body.
Later, when Jinwoo learned a Double Dungeon had appeared within a C-Rank Gate and decided to enter it alone, the Korean Hunter Association sent out a call for help to the most prestigious guilds. The Hunters Guild responded, and Hae-In was among the hunters dispatched to investigate the dungeon.
Monarch War Arc
While training in swordsmanship with Chi-Yul, Hae-In received a call from Jinwoo asking if she wanted to stay with him, which she accepted. They then went to an amusement park, where, due to their identities, they attracted a lot of attention from visitors. Hae-In asked Jinwoo why he had wanted her to come along. He replied that she was his only friend, referencing what he had heard her say when she tried to save him in the Double Dungeon. Hae-In blushed, realizing he had overheard her words. She tried to ask him what had really happened in the Double Dungeon, but Jinwoo remained vague, promising to tell her everything once he had fully come to terms with it.
Soon after, the couple was surrounded by excited fans, but Jinwoo’s Shadow Knights kept them at bay, allowing the two of them to enjoy the park in peace. Hae-In fully savored this moment of calm, not remembering the last time she had such carefree fun. Since the amusement rides were too slow for a Hunter, Jinwoo took her for a ride on Kaisel, followed by a quiet night spent stargazing.
After spending the night outdoors in the woods, they headed to a hotel for a meal, accompanied by Kaisel. During this meal, Jinwoo received a call from Jinchul warning him that a powerful humanoid beast was wreaking havoc near the Korean Hunters Association in Seoul.
Hae-In watched Jinwoo's battle against the Monarchs in Seoul via a live broadcast and was horrified to see him seemingly killed after being fatally impaled.
Final Battle Arc
Shortly after Jinwoo killed the three Monarchs pursuing him, Hae-In stood ready in Seoul alongside a massive army of Hunters gathered from around the world, prepared to face any threat that might emerge from the giant Gate looming over the city.
As Antares and his dragons devastated Canada and advanced slowly toward the United States, Hae-In was seen at an airfield with several Hunters deployed to reinforce the North American front lines. She received a call from Jinwoo, and the two acknowledged how busy they had been to see each other. Before hanging up, Hae-In made Jinwoo promise that they would meet again later.
On the battlefield, Hae-In was seen standing atop a pile of monsters she had slain, alongside several other Hunters. After Antares’ death, she continued to fight the Monarch's remaining forces, impaling a monster through the neck during combat.
Epilogue
While fighting the Monarchs’ monsters in the streets, Hae-In witnessed the blinding light of the Holy Grail of Reincarnation activated by the Rulers. As the light engulfed the world, time rewound to ten years before the Gates first appeared on Earth.
In the new timeline, Hae-In lost all memories of being a Hunter. Jinwoo, having returned to Earth after defeating all the Monarchs, saw her walking past the glacier where he was meeting the Rulers' emissary. They exchanged a brief look, with Jinwoo holding true to his promise and setting out to reconnect with her in this new life on Earth.

During her youth, while competing in the preliminaries—which she won at the cost of a leg strain—Hae-In, frustrated by her injury, eventually met Sung Jinwoo. Though her memories had been erased, her mana sensitivity remained intact, as she noticed his scent was even more fragrant than before. After Jinwoo healed her leg, she asked if they had met before. Jinwoo proposed a wager: if she could defeat him, she would get an answer. She accepted, and the two spent a lot of time together afterward.
Several years later, Jinwoo and Hae-In got married and had a son, Sung Suho. It is implied that Jinwoo restored her former memories during their dates, which she later explained with some exasperation especially regarding his Shadows and their views on Suho’s future, notably Igris and Bellion.
Hae-In and her guildmates, led by Jong-In and Jinchul, arrived at the mysterious gates of the Double Dungeon. She sensed that the mana behind the doors did not belong to Jinwoo. Upon opening the gates, the group was shocked to find the dungeon matched the infamous description, with giant statues and a strange hall. Their surprise deepened when they encountered the Architect, who slaughtered their fellow hunters and declared they were to be sacrificed to the new king. The statue was capable of killing multiple enemies with a single blow. Hae-In attempted to confront it directly, but despite using her Sword Dance technique, she was completely overwhelmed by the Architect’s superior combat prowess.
