Levi: The Indispensable Pillar of Attack on Titan
If there is one character who propelled Attack on Titan to the heights it has reached today, it's Levi. From his explosive introduction where he takes down a Titan and puts the main characters in their place, Levi immediately established himself as the undisputed leader.
Levi is stronger than any other soldier; he is charismatic and knows how to lead people. However, this doesn't mean he is arrogant. He is deeply supportive of his team and truly cares for them. Almost every action Levi takes is iconic enough to be framed.

10. "If you had chosen to keep your hands clean, Jean would be a corpse on a cart right now."
The scouts had to face the Military Police lackeys, overthrow the Fake King, and defeat Kenny. In the end, almost all of them sacrificed their lives to reclaim Wall Maria. These soldiers were trained to kill Titans, not humans. When Armin had to act and was filled with regret, Levi cleared his doubts by explaining what would have happened if he hadn't acted in time. It might not have been the "right" thing to do, but it ensured their survival.
9. "It's just my opinion, but when it comes to teaching someone discipline... I think pain is the most effective method."
Levi grew up in a harsh environment. His mother died by his side, and he was powerless to help. Aside from Kenny, a bandit, he had no family. Everyone was consumed by their own problems. This taught him to be resilient and to swallow his tears when suffering. Before kicking Eren, Levi knew exactly what he was going through. He was the only one capable of teaching Eren proper manners through the medium of pain.
8. "Don't misunderstand. It's not that I don't trust him. If he betrays us or goes out of control, I will take him down without hesitation."
As much as he values his allies, Levi is never afraid to take initiative. He embraces the concept of "kill or be killed." Consequently, when the Military Police soldiers were pursuing him, Levi didn't hesitate for a second to cut them down.

When he stated he would kill Eren if necessary, it wasn't just to win the trial—he was dead serious. Levi is humanity's greatest anti-Titan weapon alongside Eren.
7. "But I think... it's time to let him rest."
Season 3, Part 2, represents the peak of Attack on Titan. It was a roller coaster of intense action, world-building, and sacrifice—the most notable being Erwin's suicide charge. But what followed was even more heart-wrenching: the decision to resurrect either Erwin or Armin.
This scene was flawless. From the voice acting to the weight of the choice, every fan likely shed a tear. For the first time, Levi held someone's ultimate fate in his hands. He said goodbye to his old friend and finally released him from this hell.
6. "Zero casualties, don't you dare die."
During the fierce battle against the Beast Titan at Wall Maria, the situation shifted every second. Levi and Erwin were responsible for the lives of every scout. That’s when Levi ordered his soldiers not to die. He has seen enough pain and loss for a lifetime. Regardless of the tough exterior he maintains, Levi always cares for his soldiers. He would throw himself into danger so that others wouldn't have to.
5. "Some scouts' lives are more valuable than others, only those crazy enough to accept that join us."
Beyond his efficient attitude and ruthless personality, Levi is also highly skilled at getting people to talk. Anyone can use torture, but getting inside someone's head and manipulating them into revealing the truth is something that goes beyond an ordinary soldier. Captain Levi knows his trade well. Many soldiers sacrificed their lives for Eren simply because he was a Titan shifter.

After saving Eren from the hands of Reiner and Bertholdt, Erwin's arm is devoured by a Titan. He was in a room with Levi when Hange arrived with Conny. It is revealed that Titans might actually be humans. In that moment, regret sets in. For Levi, Titans were evil monsters he was purging from the world. But to think they were actually humans forcibly transformed—his moral compass was deeply shaken.

During the slaughter of the scouts by the Female Titan, Eren hesitated to listen to anyone and was on the verge of transforming. Captain Levi gave him the option to choose freely whether to fight alone or trust his comrades. But whatever he did, he should make sure not to regret his decision afterward.

Kenny was a father figure to Levi. He was the only person he could call family, and Kenny made sure to toughen Levi up—teaching him how to fight and survive. His death naturally impacted Levi. So, when Historia and the others played a prank on him, Levi reacted playfully and thanked them for their support. They were his new family, and he would do anything to protect them.

He thus dispelled all doubts, so as not to blame himself for Erwin's passing.
