⛩ The Espada is made up of ten Arrancars of exemplary strength. Its members are graded by number in descending order, from 0 to 9. This number is precisely tattooed on each of their members to identify them. Alongside Sōsuke Aizen, Gin Ichimaru and Kaname Tōsen, Espada's power rivals that of the Captains of the 13 Divisions.

Their power and authority are the law of the Hueco Mundo. It is they who direct the other Arrancars, such as the Números, the Exequias and even their Fracción, direct subordinates of an Espada, chosen from among the Números. Just as the power of a Captain is far greater than that of a Vice-Captain, the strength of an Espada is far greater than that of an ordinary Arrancar. Aizen himself is confident in the strength of his subordinates, sending them on potentially dangerous missions, such as gathering information in the Real World or seeking out and recruiting a Vasto Lorde.

Ulquiorra and Grimmjow were respectively Espada 4 and 6 in Aizen's army, and thus 2 of the most powerful members of the Espada. These 2 Espadas will meet Ichigo several times in the course of the story, providing us with Dantesque battles. Note that despite his position, Ulquiorra is considered by many to be the most powerful Espada, thanks to his hidden powers.
