⛩ Gon Freecss is nearly twelve years old, and dreams of becoming a "Hunter" (a "hunter" in Japanese). Hunters are elite adventurers who can be bounty hunters, chefs, archaeologists, zoologists, vigilantes, or consultants in various fields. His father, Jin Freecss, whom he does not know personally, is one of the greatest Hunters of his time. It is also to find him that Gon wants to become a Hunter.

However, the Hunter Exam, which takes place every year, is extremely difficult and perilous. It is said that one in 10,000 candidates reaches the location of the trials and that every 3 years, only one candidate becomes a Hunter on their first attempt. During the trials, it is not uncommon to be injured or even killed by monsters, traps, or even other competitors...

During this exam, Gon will meet various characters, both friends and enemies: Kurapika, whose sole goal is to avenge his clan, the Kuruta clan, slaughtered by the Phantom Troupe; Leorio Paradinaito, whose declared aim is to earn money to finance his medical studies; Kirua Zoldik, 11 and a half years old, son of an elite assassin family, the Zoldik family, who does not want to follow his family's path, participating in the exam simply for the love of challenge; Hisoka, whose great passion is to fight against very powerful warriors; and many others...
