Vegeta is one of the strongest and most popular characters in the Dragon Ball universe alongside his Saiyan rival, Goku. But unlike Goku, Vegeta always feels the need to boast about his superiority and power - he is the prince of all Saiyans after all.

In the aftermath of Freezer's defeat and the destruction of the planet Namek, Goku disappeared. Rather than wait for him to return, Vegeta took it upon himself to search the galaxy for his fellow Saiyan, though he returned to Earth with nothing but frustration.
Vegeta was frustrated not only with his inability to find Boku, but also with the fact that Goku had surpassed him in strength. He was so angry that he was ready to smash everything on the first person he saw when he returned to Earth, Yamcha. Of course, Vegeta would have easily defeated Yamcha, but he was hilariously stopped by his future wife, Bulma, who insulted his hygiene and forced him to take a shower.

Cell was one of Dr. Gero's artificial creations along with the androids. But unlike the androids, Cell was created from the cells of the most powerful beings in the universe like Goku, Piccolo and Vegeta.
Although the different cells gave Cell each warrior's special ability, such as Piccolo's ability to regenerate body parts, they did not necessarily give him traits based on physical appearance. Therefore, when Vegeta was informed that his own cells were inside Cell, he was offended that the monster turned out to be "so ugly" and considered him a waste.

Android 18 may be an artificial being with a pretty face, but that doesn't mean she should ever be underestimated. However, Vegeta, with his newly attained Super Saiyan form, thought that he would easily be able to master her as he had done with Android 19 and 20.
Initially, Vegeta was able to keep up with Android 18 and even advised him to surrender so that he could turn her into a device. Unfortunately for the Super Saiyan, Android 18 was much stronger than the others he had faced before, and she ended up defeating him instead of him turning her into a toaster.

When the scary Saiyan duo, Nappa and Vegeta, arrived on Earth, it was Nappa who first showed the Z-fighters his power. Although he had no problem facing Piccolo, Gohan and Krillin at the same time, Nappa was easily defeated by the new Goku.
Upon his humiliating defeat, Nappa asked for help from Vegeta, who instead threw his wounded comrade into the sky and killed him with a single blow. In doing so, Vegeta showed his cruelty, calling Nappa a disappointment at being defeated by someone like Goku.

Hercules, a.k.a. Mr. Satan, is known as the world's martial arts champion even though he is much weaker than any of the Z-fighters and villains. Yet Hercules continues to maintain his reputation and is even considered "the protector of the Earth" by civilians.
But to those who know the real truth, Hercules is less a hero than a fraud. During the World Tournament, Vegeta's young son Trunks was scheduled to face Hercules. Vegeta laughed and said he knew of "stronger houseplants" than Hercules. Perhaps he was referring to the Saibamen, which grow from seeds, just like plants.
