S Jin-Woo Figure - Solo Leveling™

Story

At the dawn of time, when light and darkness were the only things that existed, the Absolute Being divided the light to create the Rulers and the darkness to create the Monarchs. The Monarchs were born to destroy the world, and the Rulers to protect it, leading to a devastating war between the two factions.

Eons later, when the Absolute Being was cast down and killed, the Rulers used tools containing fragments of Its power to hunt the Monarchs, eventually managing to capture the Monarch Legia alive. This shifted the balance in their favor and gave them a solid chance of winning the war. Aware of this, the Shadow Monarch, Ashborn, extended a hand to the remaining Monarchs and offered his aid. Having no other choice, the other Monarchs reluctantly accepted him as an ally.

Unfortunately for Ashborn, even though he managed to stabilize the balance of power and maintain the war, his overwhelming strength made him a feared figure on both sides. Eventually, two Monarchs—Rakan and Baran—betrayed him and ambushed him with their armies. While Ashborn easily defeated both and killed Baran in retaliation, his shadow army was nearly wiped out.

Determined to take revenge on Rakan, Ashborn went into hiding to rebuild his army, which allowed the Rulers to win the war and forced the Monarchs to flee into the gaps between worlds. However, soon after, Ashborn returned, and Antares, the most powerful of the Monarchs, willingly welcomed him back, as the other Monarchs were still weakened from their defeat and needed time to recover.

Centuries later, the Monarchs attempted to conquer the human world to rebuild their armies, while the Rulers tried to stop them to save humanity from certain extinction. Their efforts failed, and the Rulers used a tool created by the Absolute Being—the Cup of Reincarnation—which could turn back time by ten years with each use, giving them a second chance. Unfortunately, this only prolonged the inevitable: no matter which side won or how many times the Rulers turned back time, the human world would always be destroyed.

Jeju Island Arc

Several days after the S-Rank Gate was cleared on Jeju Island, Rakan discovered traces of the Shadow Monarch’s power and went there to investigate. Along the way, he met Sillad, who had also picked up Ashborn’s trail, and they agreed it was time to resume the battle against the Rulers.

Japanese Crisis Arc

Several months after the Jeju Island raid, the Rulers offered Legia an opportunity to escape by creating an S-Rank Gate in Tokyo. Unfortunately for him, he was never freed and was killed by Sung Jinwoo, the vessel of the Shadow Monarch. At the same time, the Monarchs began hunting the Rulers in the human world and killed Christopher Reed, the most powerful hunter in America and one of the seven vessels of the Rulers.

International Guild Conference Arc

Several days before the International Guild Conference, the Monarchs kidnapped and killed Jonas, the strongest hunter in Brazil and another vessel of the Rulers.

Monarch War Arc

On the last day of the conference, Sillad killed Go Gunhee, Korea’s second-strongest hunter at the time and another Ruler vessel, not without discovering that the Shadow Monarch had found his human vessel and turned against them. Realizing this turn of events could jeopardize their plans, the Monarchs gathered to decide their next move. Eventually, three of them—Rakan, Querehsha, and Sillad—chose to try to kill Jinwoo before he could fully absorb Ashborn’s power. The other two—Tarnak and Yogumunt—refused to help and instead waited for Antares' return.

The three Monarchs then invaded Seoul to lure out Jinwoo and kill him. Although they managed to defeat Thomas André and even kill Jinwoo, they failed to confirm his death. Thanks to the intervention of Sung Il-Hwan, they were also unable to stop him from ascending to the throne and acquiring the full power of the Shadow Monarch. As a result, they failed their mission and were effortlessly slaughtered by Jinwoo.

Final Battle Arc

Soon after Jinwoo killed the three Monarchs who had pursued him in Korea, Antares learned from Yogumunt that the Shadow Monarch had betrayed them and wiped out most of their forces. Undeterred by the losses, Antares decided to deal with Ashborn’s vessel himself and ordered his surviving siblings and their armies to prepare for battle.

Several days later, Antares and his allies descended into the human world through a massive Gate in Canada, cutting a wide swath of destruction across the country to draw out Jinwoo, massacring millions in the process. Unfortunately, they failed to realize that Jinwoo had already prepared a counterplan. As a result, he was able to eliminate both Yogumunt and Tarnak without even fighting them directly, leaving Antares as the last remaining Monarch.

Unwilling to fight Antares in Canada, Jinwoo chose to move the battle to an isolated island in Japan where no one would be harmed in the crossfire.

Upon arriving on the island, the two clashed fiercely. Although Antares managed to gain the upper hand relatively easily, he didn’t realize in time that Jinwoo was using the fight to distort space and summon his allies from the Chaos World. Caught off guard, Antares was instantly overwhelmed when the Rulers suddenly appeared in the human world in their true forms and impaled him with their spears from all directions, killing him instantly and ending the war in victory.

Epilogue

After the Rulers used the Cup of Reincarnation to turn back time at Jinwoo’s request, all of the Monarchs—except Baran—were resurrected with their memories intact. To ensure the events of the previous timeline would not repeat, Jinwoo began hunting down and killing the Monarchs one by one. Though it took him 27 years, he eventually slaughtered them all and returned to the human world whole, allowing the Rulers to win the war once and for all and leaving him as the last Monarch alive.

Highlights

As one of the two races created by the Absolute Being, the Monarchs are among the most powerful entities in existence, second only to the gods. Their overwhelming strength, combined with their extensive combat experience, makes them nearly unmatched in battle. Only the Rulers are capable of matching them on the battlefield. They are also far stronger than the average S-Rank Hunter—even National Level Hunters stand no chance against them—and each Monarch commands millions of soldiers.

Solo Leveling : qui sont les deux mystérieux personnages présents sur l'île de Jeju à la fin de l'anime ?

All Monarchs possess the ability called Spiritual Body Manifestation, which allows them to assume their true forms and access their full power. They can also create portals and use them to travel vast distances and between worlds.

Weaknesses

Lacking an organic form and possessing a mana-based biology, Monarchs cannot easily enter the human world without suitable human vessels—a trait they share with the Rulers. Unlike the Rulers, however, the Monarchs fully possess their vessels and take over their bodies. While this allows them to exercise their full power in the human world, it also means they will die if their human vessels are destroyed in battle.

Succession

As revealed by Antares in Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, a magical beast can succeed a fallen Monarch—either by being chosen by the Absolute Being or by a priest serving the deceased Monarch. After the Absolute Being was killed by the Rulers, they entrusted the task of choosing successors to their priests.

To complete the succession process, a potential successor must face a legendary eight-headed serpent called Nidhogg and sever one of its heads. This is no easy feat—as Esil only managed to cut off one of the serpent’s heads with Suho’s help when it came time for her to succeed Baran as the Demon Queen.
